However, to taste the best of our food you must go up in mountain villages where you will really find heaven on Earth in regard to food especially during summer when locally grown goods are available. By the way raki in my country is generally made out of grapes. Now, for commercial purposes they make them from just about anything but grapes are the name of the game and grapes are generally with seeds. Korca beer is best there. Hope you had a taste of it too. I have the accent mimic condition also...I used to spend time in Albania off and on for years and would be speaking with an accent within a few days of being there. When I would return to Canada it would take a minute to shake it off.

To tell the truth, the Turks and others have taken the recipes of the kitchen from us, because the Albanians are older than the Turks and any other country in the world, when the Turks came to Anatolia, they ate eggs in a pan with kid goat meat, all the Turkic tribes these they had a drink, sherbet, milk, they didn't even have tea in ancient times, the Turks learned to cook when they conquered the kingdoms, cities, they tried to get cooking recipes, Albania was at war with all the superpower empires in ancient times, but these foreign kingdoms and empires were born after for a long time when the Albanians existed before them like this in the scheme of taking names from others, while the others took them from us when they invaded our country. In ancient Europe, the tribes and kingdoms only put chickens, rabbits, pigs, veal, or some kind of soup with boiled water and potatoes on a spit. Europe also used stewed apples for perfume, and today you are going to Turkey. Those kitchens that exist today are still not their kitchens. because they only have kukures kebab, kid meat, lamb with bread, but the Albanians made these before the Turks came to Anatolia.
Tirana is great, so much happening it will make your head spin. I ate at this restaurant 2 days ago. Right on the edge of the street, no space wasted. Paulie, you are beautiful! You could pass for Audrey Hepburn. The beer here is the best. Something about KOAN is totally perfect. The fish was good, I don't care for octopus or squid, don't like chewy stuff. Tirana has my attention, so exotic. The people are the nicest in the world. Even though primarily Muslim, I don't get that vibe or any hostility in any sense. These people are just out of repression from Communist rule and just want to be free and accepted. Like the SWAMP in Wash, DC, there are lingering aspects of Communism here that will take a long time to get rid of.
