    Found this video very helpful. Thank you for covering the east Bay Area because I’m moving to Fremont in a couple months and you’ve helped navigate it! Great job 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

    Hey! I think your channel has a lot of potential, I hope you get very soon the subscriber base that you deserve.
    Idea for a video: "buying a car in the bay area". I know it sounds dumb, but foreigners (including myself) have zero clue about the California rules, and even where/how to find a good car dealer. I'm sure that as a local you've got plenty of insights to share.
    Cheers!

    El Cerrito/Albany is a really nice area of the east bay, and very convenient for everyday living.

    One thing you have to keep in mind when buying a house in the East Bay is fire risk. There are many areas that insurance companies will simply not cover. Also many of the cities in the East Bay have trash public school districts so make sure to do your research if you have or plan to have kids. One thing I noticed he didn't mention was crime rate. In Oakland, in the cheapest places to live, you have a 1/65 chance of being a victim of a violent crime.

    Can you talk about how bart works (fares) and other public transportation alternatives ?

    • @livinginthesfbayarea

      Hi Alejandro! You can check out Bart fares here: www.bart.gov/tickets/calculator There are quite a few other public transportation options. Check out this site to see them: bayareatransitmap.com/

    Interesting map of price per sq.ft. I want that same kind of data for crime rate, high temp in summer, and low temp in winter.
    I felt you didn't discuss the elephant in the room which is the high property crime rates in some parts of the bay area and anyone visiting or planning on living here needs to know this information.

    • @livinginthesfbayarea
      @livinginthesfbayarea  Před rokem +3

      Yes, I've thought about making a video related to crime in the area, but the subject is pretty complex and nuanced. It's hard to get accurate data because many people don't even report property crime in the bay area. For now, it's easier for me to have these conversations on the phone with people, but I will probably end up making a video about it in the future. Thanks for watching and for your feedback!

    • @alansnyder8448
      @alansnyder8448 Před rokem

      @@livinginthesfbayarea I don't understand. Why is it complex and nuanced? EDIT: [I see getting the data is hard. Agree.]
      These are facts people should know, especially if they come from a safe city like Singapore or Tokyo.
      2019-2021. 300+. Highway Shootings.
      Within SF property crime is spiking related to drug users paying for their habit and professional criminal groups which take advantage of lax law enforcement around shoplifting and drug use.
      If you are an elderly Asian resident some parts of Oakland can be very dangerous since you could be singled out for an assault by the local gangs.
      Why is that so hard? People deserve to know these things.
      I think the best way to convey this information is just like you showed the cost of housing per sq. ft. in a heat map. This will let people new to the area know where their car could be broken into, and which areas to avoid if your personal safety is a concern.

      There was another shooting on I-580, and an 8-year-old child is fighting for his life right now.
      Several months ago a 2-year-old was killed in I-580. People need to know about these things.

    The most desirable areas and the highest cost per square foot areas are intentionally located far away from public transportation. I live in Danville/Alamo and we don’t ever want Bart to come here.

      BART (or other subways systems) are a double edged sword. Very convenient but also invites alot of homeless, drug-addicts, gang behavior. This is why North Bay is so expensive, no subway system but very close to SF.

    • @hjdhbcfjjb
      @hjdhbcfjjb Před měsícem

      So, how then do you explain the fact that Orinda and Lafayette have Bart stops, and yet they are beautiful, expensive, and low crime towns? I understand that Alamo, Danville, and also Marin have strategically denied Bart access, but the reasoning has less to do with the facts, and more to do with snobbery and fear.

    Stay away it's expensive and u get indoctrinated into one of the bay companies. It's not a lifestyle it's more of getting sold on living with constant road repairs. The traffic is so bad you have to pay to use the car pool lane or have 3 people in your car. Or by a Tesla or fuel efficient car. Even then let me tell you around 7 am the traffic starts. San Jose to Fremont well cops slow down traffic like every day. Btw without accidents ahead. Traffic control. The high way has as many pot holes as there are pot heads in the ahead.
