    So I recently started a pet sitting job a few weeks ago. At a new client’s house this morning, I discovered 4 of these litter robots and had never used one before. The first thing I did was hit empty lol. I then found your video and was able to correct the situation. Thank you so much for making this video- I feel a lot more prepared for the next time!!

    Perfect video! I’m cat sitting now for 4 months and the owners are 9 hours ahead of me, so it’s better to be able to figure this out rather than waiting for a reply tomorrow. Another quick question: when the tray underneath is ready to be changed, will the ready light change or go off?

    • @Floppycats
      @Floppycats  Před 2 lety +1

      Here's what LR's website said:
      "Litter-Robot flashing blue light
      You’ll most commonly notice a flashing or blinking blue light on your Litter-Robot control panel. This blue light is called the Drawer Full Indicator, which means that the waste drawer is full (or approaching full) and needs to be emptied. After you have emptied the drawer and installed a new liner, hit the Reset button on the control panel-the light should return to solid blue, indicating the unit is ready for use. If you have a Connect unit, you will have to hit the Reset button in the Whisker app.
      Note: Sometimes the waste will pile up on one side of the waste drawer and activate the Drawer Full Indicator even when the drawer is not very full. In this case, you may need to shake the drawer to level out of the waste, then hit the Reset button on the control panel. "
      I usually just emptied mine every trash day. So I didn't let it get full. But when it's full, it will stop cycling. You could also just check waste drawer every few days to see if it's full.

    just got my model 3 and it is for two sibling cats; one male and one female. The big boy, at 19# got in right away. The girl was more cautious.
    Assembly was intuitive but my only grief is that there was no manual included in the box ( or a DVD) and was difficult to find on the website. This manual is many many pages long with the operation set up deeply imbedded. Saving trees I asume but would have also emptied my printer ink cartridge.. The website also had no "contact us" which I thought was odd. So this video was helpful and thank you.
    So far, we are very happy. We stopped watching tv for now and now watch the cats, because they don't follow a script....

  • @Floppycats
    @Floppycats  Před 3 lety

    In this video, I show you how the Litter-Robot 3 works, what the Litter Robot does and what the buttons on the machine do.
    0:01 Introduction to how the Litter Robot 3 works
    0:35 How do you empty a Litter Robot? What does the empty button do on the Litter Robot?
    1:40 How to start Litter Robot 3 smart litter box from scratch
    1:59 What is the best litter for a Litter-Robot? Natural Clumping Cat Litter
    2:43 What does "cycle" mean on the Litter Robot 3? And this part shows "What does litter robot do"?
    5:37 What do buttons on Litter Robot mean?
    In the fall, when I was away for the weekend, coaching field hockey, I had a cat sitter check on my Ragdoll cats, Charlie and Trigg. As you guys know, we have two Litter Robot IIIs - a Grey and a Bisque Litter Robot III.
    …but as you also know, we have 5 litter boxes - the two LR IIIs were just two of those 5 and thank goodness they were! Although I had told my cat sitter it wasn’t necessary to touch the LR IIIs - in an effort to try and be helpful, she pressed the “Empty” button on the side of the Litter-Robot, which consequently, emptied out the entire contents of the litter that was in there, leaving the globe in the empty position and therefore making the Litter-Robot unusable.
    When I got home, the globe is turned upside down from the cycling and there is no where for the cats to do their business. Had I not had my other litterboxes, there could have been a lot of clean-up for me!
    So I thought it would be a good idea to do a quick video to show cat sitters how a Litter-Robot works or if you have a LR III and will be going out of town for Spring Break, maybe this video will be helpful for you to show your pet sitter.
    In this video, I show you how the Litter-Robot 3 Open Air works and what the buttons on the machine do.

    Hi, Does the litter robot 3 connect function without connecting to wifi?
    Do you have to use wifi for it to work as a self-cleaning litter box?
    Im not sure I will have my wifi on 24 hours a day...

    • @Floppycats
      @Floppycats  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, it will still work as our Bisque one does (the one without WiFi) as a self-cleaning litterbox, as long as it is plugged into an outlet. If you end up buying one, just FYI, you can save $25 off your purchase through this link: bit.ly/3nvtZCo

    Does you cat sitter sleepover or come once, twice a day or every other day. I have one kitty and find myself flying down to Florida to help out my folks. So it automatically starts cycling after the cat uses it and leaves?

    • @Floppycats
      @Floppycats  Před 3 lety

      No. There is a waiting period. I think the default is 7 minutes after the cat leaves, it cycles (scoops litter). But you can change it to longer than 7 minutes if you want. So that gives litter time to clump and dry.

      No problem - just take the bag out of the waste drawer - and dump the contents back into the globe of the Litter-Robot. Then reinstall the bag - czcams.com/video/I0KlLwdB1kc/video.html - put the waste drawer back in. Then hit "cycle" to get it to cycle normally.

    • @Floppycats

      It won’t cycle for 7 minutes or so (or more - you can set it) after cat has left Litterbox. It will also stop mid-cycle if it senses your cat’s weight. But if your cat has the runs you probably want to look at diet.

      As far as your original question - the Litter Robot will have a timer - so you could have it cycle 30 minutes after your cat leaves the box or however long it would need for that crap to solidify with the clumping litter. Otherwise, it will smear all over the inside. I wouldn't suggest an automatic litterbox until you get his system in proper working order.

    • @Floppycats
      @Floppycats  Před 3 lety +1

      yes, always plugged in - unless you want to unplug it for some reason, that's fine - it's just not going to cycle. and no, it has a weight sensor and a timer - so as long as your cat is 5lbs or more - it will detect the cat, then when cat leaves, it will detect it leaving, then the timer starts - i think the default timer is 7 minutes after cat leaves, it will cycle, but you can increase timer amount, if you want.
