    3. Poles are set straight up
    4. Poles are set down the toe line

      If the top of the center alignment stick is a fist away from the body then it must be driven into the ground at an angle because the bottom of the stick is clearly further from the player. The missing down the line view is crucial. I’m really surprised that you uploaded this without it.😢

    This video has transitioned my swing like nothing before it (and there has been a GREAT DEAL before it)! I practiced this only to find how much easier my swing rotation has become and I'm 69! I can rotate just fine within the context of this drill - perhaps not as much as a younger golfer but I've still got lots of ROM for this drill. I played 9 holes just to test the results. It was IMPRESSIVE. The best part is it took all the info overload away, took all the physical tension away, simplified my swing and the results were astounding. The sound my contact makes is "cleaner". Seems like SO much less effort and yet more distance. ?!? AND, it was SO easy to hit all my clubs straight!! I'm SO excited to get out there this week on my men's league day. Thank you kindly gentlemen!

    This seems like a keeper. Although, it would be good to offer some guidance on the path the held long alignment stick takes (or in other words where/when the stick misses)...
    Comments from my drilling with this setup, @cogomogolf, please advise if this is wrong:
    • On takeaway, the lead side of the held stick should go OUTSIDE the lead in-ground stick. (Initially I was trying to take this INSIDE and nearly fell over)
    • On the downswing, the trail side of the held stick should go INSIDE the trail in-ground stick.
    • If you're an early extender (ahem), then you'll have to work hard to have the trail side of the held stick miss the trail in-ground stick. IMO, this is where the magic is: you have to contort yourself to make that happen (which in this case is a good thing)
    • If you're an over-the-topper, then you'll have to work hard to have the lead side of the held stick miss the lead in-ground stick.
    The held stick that I used was approximately my body height, give or take an inch. The guidance in the video (a couple sticks taped together) is ambiguous. Obviously, holding a super short stick would not reveal any flaws, and a very long stick would make the drill impossible.
    Does this jibe with anyone else's experience with the drill?

    Eric, How bend should my upper body be? Where can I find the inside structure? Thanks.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před rokem

      Hey Carlos!
      If you drew a line through your spine/back line at setup, you want to tilt your shoulders down about 90° to that initial spine angle line. This allows the golfer to keep their head centered.
      90° to the back line is a good checkpoint throughout the bag. Replace the amount of forward bend (the amount that you are tilted over towards the golf ball) at setup with side tilt in the backswing.
      So if you are 30° bent over towards the ball at setup, tilt your shoulders 30°ish. Since you are bent over more or less with different clubs, that will change that. So with a wedge where you are more bent over at setup, there is more tilt automatically in the backswing. You are less bent over with the driver, so 90° to that line will be less tilted over in the backswing.
      This video talks through more details on this topic and I think it may help clarify it for you:
      czcams.com/video/itMUrdHkHm4/video.html

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před rokem

      Hey Kevin!
      They work together beautifully!
      Make sure the pelvis is tucked under at setup (stick 1 fist away AFTER tucking under)
      Trail hip stays back in backswing and then fires through without working in toward the ball
      Which part do you see different/unsure about?

    • @sacpike
      @sacpike Před rokem +1

      @@CogornoGolf I kept thinking of what JT articulated about how some people move their butt back too early in the backswing, which is as bad as having a bad posture setup. I am wondering if it makes sense to also have an alignment stick close to, but touching my butt as part of this drill or if this drill as outlined by Trevor covers that. Thanks for quick response. Love the content.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  Před rokem +1

      For sure....you CAN do that.
      In reality if you draw a line up the back of butt line at setup in the backswing we more or less want that to just stay on that line
      Not in toward the ball (worst option) not really back away either (a little OK) but not too much also bad

    If you could, please please put up a short video showing us the down the line view with all 3 sticks, showing the good move, the 'slide left and tilt', and the 'over the top'. It would made the lesson so much clearer. Also, on the backswing Trevor's upper torso moves to target side of the centre line (the 'counter balance'?) whereas yours goes the other way. Is that a 'must' move or is that optional?

    Did you notice the difference in Trevor’s left heel move/lift during the backswing compared to your left foot roll/flatness? Thoughts on this? Also, it would be really helpful if you did a video that ties together everything you guys have been working through. Thanks for your great instruction Eric!

    Don't early extend with that or you'll need pd treatment.

    No drill that is done without a club can be called the best drill ever. I guarantee 90% of people that watch this could do this drill until the cows come home and still early extend when swinging a club.

      Thanks for the feedback Conor---I understand your perspective.

      I would say if you rehearse the movement slowly 3-5 times and then get the same “feel” slowly with an 8-9 iron repeatedly and daily or as much as possible when making a swing change you will ingrain the movement.

      As long as you learn club face awareness and combine that with this drill you’ll be golden. Throwing a frisbee with your left hand while in your golf stance really would help you max out these two drills

      I would say most amateur golfers do not focus on the importance of how your body turns vs using your arms to hit the ball. This drill kind of redirects your focus and in turn lets your arms hang on for the ride. Hope that made sense….LOL

    It looked like he had to really exaggerate leaning forward in his example. When I’m over the top, it doesn’t look anything like that.
