My daughter went through the I am trans, non binary fase. It was a nightmare. Started when she was 12. The school started calling her another name and pronoun. I didn’t know what to do. She had a therapist that have me suicide stats speech. I just didn’t budge. I kept having conversations with her, even though she hated my guts. I took her out of therapy and I became her therapist. She is now almost 16 and she has changed so much and her head is in a much better place and she loves who she is and she is very thankful that I didn’t let her go on a path of self destruction and irreversible damage. ❤❤❤ keep loving on your children, don’t give up. A bad therapist is worse than no therapist. I am now getting the hell out of CA with my children.
UPDATE 01/29/2024: Hi ya'll! Thank you for the kind and supportive replies. We did move out of CA at the end of November 2023, to Texas and we are loving it here. The schools here are so different and VERY supportive of parents.There is no BS of asking the kids what pronoun they woke feeling like that day. Really, none of the nonsense of doing things behind parent's back. I was really concerned if my kids (both teens) would like it here and they absolutely love their new school. To my surprise, the school, at least where we live, is quite diverse and kids are respectful. At least the ones I have the pleasure to meet. The fight is not over. The country is heading to a dark place if things don't change drastically. I truly worry, what kind of world our kids are gonna encounter when we are no longer here to help guide them. Bless ya'll!

My grandson is in the fifth grade and he came home and told us there were more than two genders. I have a bachelor of science in nursing so I gave him a biology lesson and then told him what a male, female and hermaphrodite is. I told him that if you are born a female you are a female and if you are born a male you are a male and that a hermaphrodite is a birth defect. I explained what hermaphrodite is. I also explained to him what transitioning is and what the surgery actually is that is done. He understands now. This nonsense should not be in our schools.
And these facilities abuse the children sexually, mentally and physically.
I think your timing was fortunate. In my experience (limited, though it is) ten year olds are very practical. And, they still believe you. And you were able to explain things in a matter-of-fact way.. He's lucky to have you.

There are no human hermaphrodites, which is an organism with both male and female reproductive organs.
There are people born with sexual development disorders or differences
as a gay male i struggled with wondering if i was supposed to be a girl or something because i was naturally effeminate. I’m glad i accepted myself as a more feminine gay man and didn’t go this route growing up.
I always loved the effeminate males in my life, not all were gay either. Many so called "straight" guys can also be pretty femme, and we just fit! I'm a bit of a tomboy, with girlie girl moments, and wanted to be a boy when I was a teenager, because women's lot seemed so shite! (not to mention seeing my own Mom be abused and not in the best headspace, made me not want to be a woman as well. Grateful I never transitioned, but seriously, still wish I were a dude sometimes. :))

I went through this garbage w/ my oldest daughter. Parents, don't budge, stay firm. It'll pass, but it's not easy. You'll have everything from social media to teachers working against you. Be prepared to be the bad guy, to be hated. You won't hear "thank you" when it finally passes, but you can feel it when she hugs you. Stay strong & God bless.

It’s a disgrace. These medical professionals are abusing kids and need to be prosecuted and put in prison for child abuse.
As a therapist in CA, I am SO HAPPY that logic is finally prevailing. It’s a slow process, but I would NEVER ignore a child or adults trauma etc and slap a label like trans as some kind of panacea. It’s truly disgusting and sad that many of my colleagues don’t realize how they’re being manipulated by a larger agenda and putting themselves at risk for being sued.
My daughter identified as trans from ages 13-16 and we heard the same thing from doctors and psychiatrists. Affirm or your daughter will be suicidal. Nope. I knew my daughter and knew she was a trans-trender like all the girls in her friend group. Before Covid lockdown we knew ZERO trans people. Now I know 11 in my own small town and they’re all girls. One is already taking testosterone. This is insanity. During freshman and sophomore year my daughter went by a different name and pronouns at school and they didn’t say a word to us.
Thankfully my daughter desisted from this madness. She just had to grow up and mature to realize it was a cult. She goes by her birth name at school with peers and teachers. We never affirmed this bullshit. Get your kids off of their phones and social media and set boundaries or you’ll lose them to this madness. Thank you, PBD, for continuing to share this with the world. Everyone needs to know what’s going on. I’m a Democrat and will also be voting Republican in 2024. Enough is enough!!

Thank you for sharing! The trend is ridiculous and schools are perpetuating this. My son said on the first day of middle school each teacher asked, “what are your pronouns?” I wasn’t happy with that but what can we do? I realized this year that I’m socially conservative and I just can’t support the trend.
I am a 70 year old bachelor, childless, never paid much attention to any of this. I had NO IDEA how deep this is and how far its gotten. I am speechless, horrified.

During the pandemic I got my first experience of meeting someone from the alphabet community. It was a family friends child. She said she was lesbian, then few months later said she was non binary (when it became cool) She wanted her mom and everybody else to call her "them/they" I was frustrated. I told her I will call you by your name only. I'm not playing along in your convoluted fantasy.

It’s taken me a day to comment on this. I’m a mother of the most incredible, hard working, compassionate, loving trans son. He transitioned at 30. So a little different than the kids, however, it started at around 16 or so. I supported his decision because he was an adult and I saw how difficult his life was as a woman. That being said. I will love him and support him for the rest of my life. That being said. I wish when he was younger I would have had more education on this, a podcast like this where I could have known more. I was a hardcore liberal at the time and I fell into that scenario with the Dad. I felt like I was more respected because of how supportive I was and I went to all of the pride events, marched in the parades…at the time I thought it was fun. I didn’t see or refused to see what I’m seeing now. I honestly didn’t recall seeing a lot of children. I can’t tell you how much this podcast affected me. I’m a conservative now. March 2020 changed that for me. Actually it was a podcast you did with a lady who worked with Fauci that was taken down. That’s where my “transition” started from hardcore liberal to it’s time to think about this with an open mind.
I’m watching my friends from those days praise the kids who are doing this, encouraging them. They have no idea the harm that they are doing. They are so wrapped up in trying to be supportive that they can’t see how this will affect these kid’s lives. I am scared of how the testosterone will affect my son as he gets older. How menopause will screw with his mind. I am taking my functional practitioners certifications to help him and others because I know it’s going to be a very hard road and doctors don’t know and don’t care. These counselors and therapists only tell them what they want to hear.
I do want to say that I hope people who listen to this understand not all trans are pedophiles, bad people, or people they should hate or fear. That scares me for my son. It’s tough to hear people talk that way because I fear for his safety as the world is trying to normalize transgender and force the acceptance of it with children and adults. Like everyone there are good people and bad.
I’m still not sure if this is coming out the way my heart and mind are feeling.
Parents, protect your kids and ask more questions. Be present in their life and do not allow these schools, teachers or society dictate how you parent or live your child. They need you. My son needed me and I did not do my job as a mom correctly. I don’t know if it would have changed anything but I should have been more present and knowledgeable.
I’m proud of the panel you had on today and for the education and raw truth they brought to your audience. I just pray that our Country stops being so divided and manipulated so we can truly help our children wisely and provide the right resources. To let them know they are perfectly made how they are.
I have so many thoughts on this. Maybe it’s worth a book or podcast…I just see it from living it and the growth I have had myself.
I would encourage all parents to listen to this podcast. The more you know, the more you can step up and help your child, another parent, and your community.

I'm a housewife who listens to podcasts constantly as I do my work. This is one of the best and most important podcast episodes I've ever heard. It takes bravery to speak up against a rabid machine, I admire these guests for their courage.

I was SHOOK when Luka shared that she had a double mastectomy at the age of 16!!!!! I hope the settlement from lawsuit that she filed when she was 21 was HUGE!!!!! I was sickened that the "doctor" would even consider performing such a surgery on a minor. In our country we can't vote until 18 years old and in my state (Michigan) we aren't allowed to purchase alcohol until the age of 21. AND anyone who thinks, believes, feels that an individual should be able to have their body multilated before then is clearly NOT looking out for the best interest of our youth!!! Our country should ABSOLUTELY outlaw any type of surgery or hormone replacement therapy until the age of AT LEAST 18 years old! Pat ~ I LOVE your show!!!!

Age of Maturity should be applied just like alcohol, tobacco and driving a vehicle.
It is sick. I just can not accept that there is no special agenda behind all of this. Insurance companies do not approve treatments needed for the elderly. Or even refuse to cover hospitals' stays for children because they consider that treatment unnecessary. But they would pay for a double mastectomy on a healthy teenager 🤯 mind-blowing. If those surgeries were not covered by insurance, it would cut the amount in half.

I knew at the time when “parents” started wanting to be their children’s friends that this wasn’t going to end well. But I never could have ever imagined that this was the devastating end. Maybe when all is said and done parents will go back to really parenting again (insert disclaimers) and realizing that some times you absolutely must be the bad guy. That saying no is important developmental lesson for children.

My twin and I were abused at age 4-5 and we were the most effeminate boys growing up. We're both (mostly) well adjusted straight guys with families now. I'm so glad this wasn't mainstream for us growing up!

As a social worker in the state of California I am disgusted by our legislation and the people affiliated. The fact that so much emphasis and so many resources are pouring into scrambling the brains of children is unthinkable and indoctrinating them with trans ideals is insane. We have serious, mental health crises and serious addiction crises that are not being addressed in our state, and in our country and the resources are certainly not there! Yet we have the financial means to pull children away from their homes and put them in the residential facilities so they can hack off their genitals? This is a egregious. There aren’t even meaningful functional words in the English language to define what’s going on.

This is a very personal question, so I don’t expect an answer, but do you see yourself staying with the job in light of this legislation and political leaning? Keep up the fight. I used to live in Cali. I grew up in Sacramento. My wife and I took our two boys to Idaho to protect them after SB277. My wife fought so hard against it with the thousands of parents that came to the Capital and we saw legislators absolutely snub us and laugh in our face. I don’t regret moving, but there are just as important fights here in Idaho.

My area of work is helping developmentally disabled children with real pervasive conditions so I will likely remain at my job for some time. However, my son is a toddler and we absolutely intend to enroll him in private education- however CA is getting scarier and scarier by the minute. I love California. I think it’s a beautiful place with a lot to offer. However, it’s been infiltrated by socialist psychopaths that are medicalizing children in a way that is unprecedented. So honestly, I cannot speak on my future, and what we will certainly do.

All of us as parents need to unite and fight against this evil that’s bound to destroy our youth at an exponential rate. This is sick and needs to be stopped. Host more shows like this and share it as much as possible.

As a Mum, I found listening to and watching Luka, extremely painful. A beautiful young woman - with the deeper voice from the testosterone - she is truly, a physically beautiful young woman - and so intelligent and forthright - and she was mutilated by a bunch of lunatics, while her Dad cheered them on. The guy who was supposed to protect and cherish her. The guy who is supposed to be her role model as to the kind of man she should want to marry and have kids with one day.
I cannot imagine the pain this poor young woman has suffered, physical and emotional - all I want to do is give her a big hug. She seems to be in a good place - and despite not knowing her whatsoever - I feel so proud of her for coming out the other side of this. But, at the end of the day she undeniably deserved so.much.better. May you have a phenomenal life, Luka - I truly wish the very best for you.

I went through this with my granddaughter. It was terrifying and I’m a psychiatrist nurse.
She gives me so much hope.
Her strength, courage, and tenacity are life changing level inspiring.

So try to look at it the other end life aint perfect amd shit happens science isnt always real or factual either so Who knows why we cant just try to have clean drinking water and no plastic pthylates in our food because there is sewage aka feces in your tap water whether you like it or not!.

My niece started high school and within 2 weeks she declared that she was non-binary. No mention of anything like this before - no one can tell me that this isn't being pushed in schools.

I listen to almost all PBD episodes and this one hits me like a rock. The 3 guests are all very authentic, articulate and informative. It just hit me, this whole Trans movement is led by a force of evil at some level. To go along with a narrative that a kid body is wrong. True trans are extremely rare but this movement is turning into a lucrative business led by probably psychopathic cult leaders. I hope parents join force to wake up and fight back. Republican, Democrat or Independent we should put our kids safety first and fight evil.

There’s a TON of money behind this movement coming from very wealth trans and gay men. Jon Stryker whose family made their fortune in medical devices is a key player. Also the Pritzkers in Chicago, heirs to the Hyatt hotel have given tons of money to medical schools and to non profit advocacy groups that are pushing this into public schools and changing state and federal laws to support trans policy. Read Jennifer Bilek’s 11th Hour blog. She’s done an excellent job following the money.

I had no idea these things were happening!! It's criminal and evil and outrageous. It sounds like the people transitioning have no clue what's about to happen to them. Then they're shunned when it all goes wrong. I feel sick after watching this because of all the suffering it causes.

To anyone who is detransitioning and thinking about suicide I would like to tell them do not give the satisfaction to the people who are behind this. I can't pretend to know what these people are feeling but again don't give that satisfaction to the people who are pushing this agenda. You all must live and join the fight so that you may be able to protect the Next Generation from these atrocities.

I think that part of the problem is that we aren’t teaching our kids how to deal with struggles. I was surprised at how many of my children’s friends didn’t even do chores. Self confidence comes from facing challenges and working through it. I know this is a small piece but you can’t give your child self esteem just by telling them that they are wonderful.
The fact that these de transition people are abandoned by the people who helped them transition is disgusting. If anyone is in this situation I can assure you that dam near any sane person that is not in this “trans” world will welcome you with open arms if you need a friend..don’t be afraid to be honest and reach out for support.💯✨❤
Give it ten years and detransitioned will outnumber the advocates as they wake up to their adult realities.

What a great episode. Thanks for this. My EX sister in law suffers from this "look my child in trans" personality. She announced it when he was 7, and 2 years later, he was a boy again, after 2 years of Facebook posts of being trans. Luckily, after she announced this, my brother started taking him and doing things with him like baseball and football, boy scouts, boy things....I think that helped bring him back. This was not my brothers son, she re-married and had another child and his real dad left them and remarried and started a new family and forgot about him. Oh, and she was bi-polar, they have one kid together, he's much older, she lost custody of him to my brother because of her mental issues.
Thank you so much for this very emotional and enlightening conversation. We have different medical, psychological, and emotional supports in Canada, but I'm sure some of the issues are similar.

I’m a music teacher at a private school of rock in the PNW. Teens are being bombarded with this today. I’m determined to find the knowledge, vocabulary and courage to be a loving advocate for mental health rather than caving to to popular insanity masked as love and acceptance.
Stand up and tell them they are wrong. There's no right way to be a boy or girl. A girl can be as "manly" as she wants. She is still a girl . A boy can be as "girly" as he wants. He is still a boy. The only people we should be transitioning are people who are truly intersex and have both. Fully functioning boys or girls are perfect the way they are. Anyone who wants to change them should be arrested. They are taking a perfect human making them undatable, unable to reproduce and destroying there lives. They are predators. They are lying, they won't date a trans kid without real sexual organs. They are creating freaks. Freaks never live good lives no matter how accepted. I love kids with down syndrome or disabilities, but why would I ever want to force someone through surgery to become one. No matter how much I love and accept them.
We’re in the pnw transferred from Florida. Our kids have been bombarded with this rhetoric that we never experienced in Florida. 😩😩😩😩. They love school and their friends. Luckily we talk to our kids about these things They get to have both my husband and I to focus and guide. I couldn’t imagine the discussion of whether they’re boys or girls

They can be suspended or expelled for disagreeing with the authority at school and called a bigot. Causing a whole different kind of trauma. As a 15 year surgery assistant/tech, these surgeries are crazy. Its so dangerous. These surgeries should absolutely be banned. A surgeon that needs this kind of business would be very questionable indeed.

I'm not in the medical field, but I've heard that these surgeries are often performed by surgeons who are subpar in their original niche (usually plastic surgery) so carve out a brand new niche for themselves in gender reassignment surgery and get $$$$. Any truth to this? And how scary is it, that a plastic surgeon, NOT a urologist/gynecologist, is reconstructing genitalia?? It's such blatant malpractice!
My wife had breast cancer and needed a double mastectomy and reconstruction and had 18 follow surgeries total from complications with infection on the expanders twice, it was a nightmare, I can’t believe KIDS are willingly doing that with no medical reason and more so can’t believe any parent would sign off on mutilating their child
@imnotbenavery9220 sorry to hear your wife's condition. Medical malpractice, infection rates, hospital caused injuries etc are greatly downplayed. While our medical advances in America are spectacular and fairly amazing there are deadly risks. A post op infection can ruin you. I guess people focus on what they want the end result to be but not the possibility of failure on the way.

This was brilliantly done. I remember working at a hospital here in Nashville and the kids would complain about their parents wanting them to be trans and to be gay and they didn’t want to be. The doctors make staff call the kids by the name the kids come up with. They make you play into this sick fantasy.
why would the kids come up with different names if (as you stated the sentence prior) theyre the ones who were vocally disturbed by their parents wanting them to be trans against their will?

The kid will be(example) 12 and their real name will be Sarah and want to be called something like “Asher” and against the parent’s wishes the doctors will force staff to say Asher instead of the child’s birth name

I have two male friends, who are gay, that had abusive relationships with their MOTHERS. Both stated in separate conversations that they probably wouldn't have as they put "become gay", if not for that. One of them stated he didn't think he was gay as a small child or young teen. But because of the horrible relationship with his mother, it turned him against women, basically. It is quite intriguing when you get into deep conversations with people and learn the possibilities of why they are the way they are. Relationships between parents and kids is more conforming on the psyche than I think we give credance to.
I've had 2 different gay people (one male, one female) talk to me about how they were SAed as a child and will never know how much it contributed to their sexuaI orientation. Which is a good point. I wonder what percent of LGBTQ have a history of abuse as a child.

As someone who had a dysfunctional relationship with my mother (she left when I was 6 months old), in addition to my older sister who was toxic, I can relate to fearing women.
It didn’t make me go gay at all, but I def am triggered by certain behaviors of women. I’ve only found about 1 in 5 women I date don’t have the characteristics my mother has. It’s debilitating trying to find love….

Totally agree, this really unpacked the issue and discussed it in a much larger way than I've seen discussed previously. A lot of disturbing things are occuring and I'm glad this is being talked about, because this is super dangerous in the long term to anyone that cares about their childrens wellbeing.

I always enjoy pbd podcasts but I have a daughter in college and 5 boys ranging from 15 to 3. So this one was scary as hell. When that lady was talking about being a democrat and how we have so much in common regardless of political persuasion, it gave me chills. That's the type of attitude we should all have and if people would stick together on an issue they cared about we could really change a lot.
It's all so very divisive...turn blue against red , black against white...Evil
The group that is running the show is beyond every distraction out here. They create the division, with the issues.
