The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is a collegiate athletic conference in the United States in which its fifteen member universities compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA's) Division I, with its football teams competing in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest levels for athletic competition in US-based collegiate sports. The ACC is considered to be one of the six collegiate power conferences, all of which enjoy extensive media coverage and automatic qualifying for their football champion into the Bowl Championship Series (BCS). With the advent of the College Football Playoff in 2014, the ACC will be one of five conferences with a contractual tie-in to an "access bowl", the successors to the BCS.
Founded in 1953 in Greensboro, North Carolina, by seven universities located in the South Atlantic States, the conference added additional members in late 1953, 1979, 1991, 2004, and 2013. The 2004 and 2013 additions extended the conference's footprint into the Northeast and Midwest. The most recent expansion in 2013 saw the additions of the University of Notre Dame, the University of Pittsburgh, and Syracuse University. In 2012, the University of Maryland's Board of Regents voted to withdraw from the ACC to join the Big Ten Conference. On November 28, 2012, the ACC's Council of Presidents voted unanimously to invite the University of Louisville as a full member, replacing Maryland.

ND played a great game.....this was old-fashioned Clemson-type game......this could have been. the title game, but it was a battle in the storm....mud, blood and the beer.....American culture and two great football greats.....great game Irish....I'm Clemson, all graduates....my father attended ND.....war!!!

Clemson just installed a state of the art drainage system on the field prior to the season. The field looks perfect even after being flooded with rain, not a blemish !!
I'll never forget this experience hill side of Clemson's sideline 30 yard line. One of the greatest experiences in life,but an absolute gully wash had to use 4 wheel drive just to get out of the parking lot, shoes, socks pants, everything was soaking wet that's with a Pancho on. Wouldn't change anything about It.
Ps I couldn't talk the whole entire next day.
I was at this game, easily the most memorable game in the 14 years I have been going. The rain, the 3 quarter shellacking, the ending, everything was awesome.
Shellacking? The game ended 24-22 on the last play.
@@kbrewski1 yeah Clemson took their foot off the gas the last bit of the game for sure (as Dabo is famously known to do, much to the chagrin of the fans), but the game as a whole was completely one sided really through three quarters. I think if Dabo keeps all of the starters in its probably a 3 or 4 score game.

Its not a shellacking when you hang on to barely win in a driving rainstorm at home due to a failed 2 pt conversion on the last play which would have sent the game to OT.
The game is 60 min. The ONLY reason Clemson got out to a big lead in the first 3 Q was lost inopportune fumbles by ND, turnovers pure and simple.

Kizer outplayed Watson 321 yards pass to 84
ND thrashed Clemson during the entire 4th Q, mounted a great comeback in extreme and adverse conditions, and if Kelly doesn't have a brain fart trying to run the ball on the 2 pt conversion, ND ties it and with momentum had a good shot to win in OT. Don't try to respin the game, it takes away from the importance of the win.
@@kbrewski1 Also by 'three quarter shellacking' I was referring to the fact that Clemson was up by 21 points until they took their foot off the gas and sort of gave up because they thought they had the win sealed early.

Being an ND fan, I have full respect to Clemson. I really don't see how they're NOT gonna win out 'till the playoff. Look how much they're dominating now, and we only lost by 2 IN DEATH VALLEY. Hopefully the Irish will have a good ol'-fashioned rematch with them in January. See you then, Tigers ;)
Well, no playoff for us. But I wish the Tigers luck. Hopefully we'll give the Buckeyes some good old-fashioned revenge from ten years ago and get to 11-2. That'd be a pretty good season in my book

That was right before we got flooded in the Midlands.
ND made a great comeback but went for 2 at the wrong time. I can understand going for 2 down by 8 points to cut it to 6 because that sets you up to potentially win with a TD while still leaving the door open to tie with 8. But going for 2 down by 12 to cut it to 10 with so much time remaining doesn't make a lot of sense. Should have just kicked the PAT there to cut it to 11 and then started thinking about going for 2 on the next TD.
I wish the other leagues did this. Especially the pac 12 and Sec. Allow free games on youtube.

It's funny how Max Redfield gets run over on two consecutive plays (34:35) but then each time stands over Artavis Scott and Wayne Gallman, bowing up, as if bragging to everyone that he was able to still make a tackle after getting run over, lol. Notre Dame really should have won this, or at least tied it and sent it to OT. Terrible play call on 2 pt conversion. But a gallant and tough fought game on the road in that hostile environment in a driving rain storm to take it down to the last play. If ND pulls that out, who knows how that season could have turned out. Might have catapulted ND to the playoff and delayed Clemson's rise a year or so. Frustrating yet this is why Notre Dame plays a tough national schedule, for games like this.

Notre Dame's Defense did everything they could to keep them in this game. That offense played terrible all game, dropped passes, fumblitis.... That play call for the 2pt conversion at the end there was a TERRIBLE call. Chip Kelly is a poor excuse for a head coach.
