    Great video! I’m 6 months into my Evo X ownership and was looking to do my own oil change. This video is exactly what I was looking for to give me a clear and simple step-by-step overview on how to get it done!
    You’ve got a new subscriber as a thanks!

      First of all congrats on your evo purchase! It really is a fun car! Glad to be of help and I’ll try to upload more videos as I am able to scrounge up more money for mods 👍🏼 thanks for the sub! 😁

    60-70 USD, bro, should I cry? I live in South Tyrol, Northern Italy. They always charged me at least 120€ just for the oil, without the labor. After the first oil change, I bought a scissor car jack and did it myself on the Ralliart. Still enjoyed your video, nice work.

    • @JeffSongCars
      @JeffSongCars  Před 29 dny

      Wow that price is steep over there! DIY is always the best option for oil changes. Are you going to be doing any other mods yourself now that you have a scissor car jack? Thanks for the support 👍🏼

      @@JeffSongCars Yes, my second car is a 2013 Audi A4, which still has a 3.0 Turbodiesel engine. It needs quite a lot of engine oil, but at least it’s relatively simple to change. Only the automatic transmission is a pain. I also do the oil changes on my father's Lada Vesta (quite rare, but at that time importing Russian cars was cheap; it has around 80k miles on it and has never had a problem) and on my brother's Fiat Punto. I quickly saved the money for a car jack, especially because a typical Step-Tronic oil change for the Audi A4 costs literally 650€, which is around the same in USD. The scissor car jack was around 1800 USD; it's an SF-K2800 Autolift (a German brand that does the job very well).
      Still, the Lancer is my favorite. There isn't too much inside that could break down, and with the AWD, it's perfect for here in the Alps. It's just so fun to drive on snowy roads. It needs care and is not the most fuel-efficient, but it's worth everything I spend on it. My second option was a Subaru Impreza WRX with 230 hp, but Subarus here are just too mistreated and would have needed a gasket and timing belt change. Meanwhile, I got the Ralliart in perfect condition-I've never seen anything like it before. The first owner literally did 14 oil changes in 60k miles, all signed by a Mitsubishi garage. You could tell from afar that someone took great care of it. I just had to buy it.

      @JeffSongCars  Před 29 dny

      @sad_wrangler8515 wow lots of very different cars! It’s always fun working on different types to see which are more efficient and you can use that info the buy cars in the future. I agree that the fuel efficiency isn’t that great on our cars but definitely is a fun car to drive. That scissor lift sounds like a very good investment and I’m thinking I might need one too haha 😆

    Dang Jeff you're brave running no undertray cuz I'd be hella paranoid on Cali uneven Streets/Fwys. I myself use Mobil 1 extended performance oil and filter from cuz they always have great promo rebate prices so I stock up on supplies.

    • @JeffSongCars
      @JeffSongCars  Před 2 lety +1

      Hahaha I'm always super paranoid about something flying up but I try to drive as carefully as I can 😂 I usually buy the oil from Costco when they go on sale but this time around there was a special on Amazon and I got it for like $18-$21 for the 5 quart and couldn't resist 😄

    @vga-kingmrc3619 Před rokem +1

    had my X coming up for 7 years and still love it, the undertray is a bit of a pain but hey ho. If you want to use the best oil go for the Millers CFS Nanodrive +, best thing you can do for your evo. Here in the UK we get 99 pump gas, these things love higher octane.

    • @JeffSongCars
      @JeffSongCars  Před rokem +1

      Thanks I'll definitely take a look at Millers. Wish we had 99 over here, all we have is 91... but then I heard on the channel gears and gasoline that the rating system is different? I have to start on car work again its been a while haha itching to get my hands on tools. 😂👍

      @vga-kingmrc3619 Před rokem +1

      @@JeffSongCars Sweet, yeah millers is made in the uk, i belive there are suppliers that sell it in the US. Its proper stuff, used in motorsport ect and for road cars.
      There has been a few tests on the millers, one of them being, the cfs nanodrive being used for 20000 miles in a jaguar 3.0 turbodiesel and still being in grade after that mileage, another is a high performance vxr engine used for race with 30k miles, engine striped and was like brand new. there is also the transmission oils too witch have won awards. all tested and proven.
      Regarding the cfs nanodrive and nanodrive + they are true synthetic oils witch are group 4 and 5 base stocks 100% synthetic, with a triple ester formulation.
      Yeah you guys use a slightly different way to measure octane, your 93 will be our 98.
      i feel ya there buddy, ive got top mounts, front cv boots to change and an ac hose. fun times lol.

      @@vga-kingmrc3619 Wow those results are no joke if they're all still in grade after that many miles! Got an instagram with your car? I'll add you haha 👍

    i usually leave the drain plug out when changings the oil filter as the oil filter still restricts some old oil from coming out. also when the oil filter and and plug is removed I usually i put a little bit of new oil to push the drabs of old oil out then i put the new oil filter on and put back the drain plug ... don't wany any old oil in the engine.
    but that's just me :p

    • @JeffSongCars
      @JeffSongCars  Před rokem

      Hello, I usually Jack the car up by the frame itself. I use an extended low profile Jack that I got from harbor freight and the jack stands I put it where the little metal things are. The places I put it are shown at around the 2:06 mark. 👍🏼

      Damn... that's the worst thing to happen hahaha especially after destroying the filter with other tools 😅. I usually just use a huge wrench to twist it off but if you want to spend money buy a filter remover tool 🤣👍
