In the early 70s,Metro Shopping Center had a grocery store,a women's & children's clothing store,a men's clothing store,a barber shop,a hair salon & looked like a good place to shop. I was a child riding in the back of the station wagon as my parents drove the car across the I-55 bridge so I've never been there.
Rehabbing the plaza will not incentivize people to shop there. Crime, Crime, Crime is the problem. Why through tax payer money behind a project that everyone knows will not work? Fix the potholes, hire more police.
THAT IS GREAT BUT IT IS GOING TO TAKE MORE THAN THAT TO RENOVATE THAT SHOPPING CENTER.

Seems like the local politicians have dropped the ball on this plaza for a really long time. Glad to see the new politicians are taking care of it.
We used to shop at the grocery store all the time, but it was the donut shop for me. And I think there was an arcade in it once.
