Love your spray booth LOL! đ€Łđ€Ł
Kevin, you are the best. Two things:
1. The property you're looking for when gluing up tires is called... drumroll please... "capillary action"!!!
Leverage the little runnels/grooves on the inside edges of your wheels. A small drop of glue into said groove will be actively pulled around the entire circumference of the wheel by, you guessed it! Capillary action! It doesn't take much glue at all (*another common misstep that I am constantly making - Too much glue!*)
2. The important shit --> I've been in and out of this hobby for what feels like a hundred and thirty billion years. Much like you, I consistently run across groups of actual grown men who would throw tantrums over toy cars. I'm talkin' conflict and infighting, joining and dropping from various RC groups as if they were gangs, and literally taking their tiny trucks home early in an angry huff. It is... hard not to laugh.
But... While hilarious, this behavior also ruins my playtime. When I found your channel, I found another guy who just wants to have fun playing with his toy cars and trucks (*and tanks... and boats... hovercrafts... umm.. drones, planes, battlebots, rc insects-well shit... I think I have a problem*). To take this hobby even SLIGHTLY seriously, let alone to get your feelings hurt over it.... is unreal and something I just cant wrap my head around.
Thank you for spreading the message that the RC hobby only has room for one defining metric: Are we having fun? Then we are doing it right! Thanks, Kevin!!!
one thing you should do for the tires is scuff the rims bead with sand paper to get better adhesion just like you did for the paint. that way the glue has a rough surface to stick to instead of a smooth surface.
That's a great idea, never would have thought of that!
The WL TOYS speed buggy (IMO) keeps spinning backwards because the rear is heavier than the front. Thereâs also not enough traction on the front tires. The wheelbase is also too short for the amount of torque. Try adding a rear wing with MORE drag and the wind will keep the rear pushed back. Even try adding a front wing with fins to keep it aligned through the winds.
Kev, thanks to you I have a tire shredding Felony and a money-funnel Hoss, and I couldn't be happier. You're in my Will.
Best mobil paint booth ever!! đ I purchased your Ebay course. Iâm checking in out!!
I'm pretty sure Mammoth knew it had failures, how could they not? lol. Anyway, Kevin, you're an animal. I love the "Todays In Talbots Shop" videos. We used to have a hobby shop named "Talbots Hobby." When I first found your videos I thought you were the owner of the hobby shop. đ
You probably went there everyday to try to find the "owner" đđđ who for some reason has a British accent in the US?!
hopefully they have reprinted the parts in nylon
@@lucasvanhamburg4937 Hopefully they stop going the cheap route and have a mold made for injection.
Printed wheels will not survive.
That car had so much potential I almost bought one. The motor idea was brilliant but terrible execution.
There is a guy on youtube that made 4 wheel drive, 4 motor brushless car.
I was searching for Sabertooth esc and found his build. Many one off metal parts used throughout. Each wheel has a Hall Effect sensor. Diy traction control with python code, maybe?
I like how you talk don't change that. It gives passion and make the video to sound and appear alive.
Quiet Kev doesnât seem into what heâs doing. Loud Kev seems like whatever heâs doing, itâs his favourite thing to do!
Loud Kev is my favourite!!
I absolutely love the racing content. Ty heaps for the exposure.
I like seeing a bit of racing. Nice to have a club where everyone is more chilled.
Would be fun to see some studded tires on ice and snow this winter. Mix up of rwd and 4wd.
Got those heat and air units in our cabin here in the USA. They are amazing and so quiet you only notice them running if you stand next to it and hear the motors moving the fins. Thanks for the updates!
We don't have'em in the UK because we haven't needed'em. 85% of homes here have natural gas central heating. Fear not tho, now the climate's finally going bananas and Putin's blowing up euro gas infrastructure, they'll be selling like hot cakes!
I'm expecting the "blah blah blah" at some point but it still, somehow, surprises me and makes me laugh every time. đđ Excited for the Kyosho truggy too!
2:07 I went out and won a couple of races and now I'm getting worse and worse...that's called beginner's luck lol welcome to the club my boy!
That quad motor was a cool concept would definitely be cool to see a v2! Thanks to you again for helping to get me back into the hobby, I'm picking up my Kraton 8s EXB roller on Sunday >:)
Honestly Kev as an Aussie it's always blown my mind that Brits don't have split Air Con systems.. I've got 3 at home! There's no way I'd live without them especially in summer..
As an American I think it depends on if it's old or new construction. Old stuff Is built around central mostly so they just keep it.
Same here in NZ. Heat pumps all new builds have them.
Thatâs an easy oneâŠ.money!
@@JW-si5so Unless they're over the top expensive there you can get a split system, 3.5kw for 700 dollars or so.. Funnily the people I often hear say they've got no money have a cigarette hanging out their gob or drink a shit load of piss..
We only have 2 days of summer in the ukâŠthe rest is rain and ice đ
Epic paint booth bruh! All these years I didn't know where I should be doing my painting! Now I know!
Thanks for the new idea on paint booth. The last Thunburg Clip was especially well done. Made me laugh
Super glue drys hard and brittle. Try using a product called Plumbers Goop. Drys flexible and sticks to almost anything. As another commented below, scuff up the wheels same as you do for paint. It will help adhesion of the glue.
3:40 try swapping the front diff for one that has a higher gear ratio making the front wheels spin faster therefore pulling the car rather than pushing the car
Kev to keep it from spinning out, widen the track width of the front on project cheap 100mph and narrow the rear. This allows for one side of the car to still be traveling âstraightâ or directly in-line, even if the car sways back and forth some, works greatđđ»
Same as on my FK2 Type-R - front track is wider than the rear đ
2:15am and here I am watching Kev content, lovin itđđ
Once you get your buggy set up to where you're turning consistent laps the main key is throttle control and breaking into turns 'TIMING" especially with 2wd and finding the fastest line and trying your best to stick to it every single lap. During heat races you always gotta keep in mind your not racing the contenders you're racing the clock. Trying to battle during heats does nothing but slow you down and more chances of you crashing = loosing lol
Love the racing content đ„ Keep it coming đđ»
Always good video content and info. I especially love the back seat paint booth. I like how they change up the race track. To keep things interesting. Well done sir. đđ
New paint booth Kev..lol âšïž đ get a nice buzz driving to the market. Lol
For the project worldâs fastest dirt cheap RC car you should put vertical stabilizers on the back to help it go straight
To glue tires, I like to use a rubber band around the tire to keep it closed, and I lift a part of the tire with my thumb and give it a good gluing. I also put a bead around the edges.
Damn, that is a paint booth on another level!! lol!
âPaint boothâ how do you keep a straight face kev! đđđ
Agree with you kev, Air to air is very popular here in Orkney and Shetland, it's more efficient and much cheaper than air to water for heating, plus you also have cooling and it filters your air, I have it in my house, dirt cheap to run, The rest of the country it's like it pretty much doesn't exist
Kevin.
To help stop a car from switching ends add a vertical fin from about the middle to the rear of the car.
Formula one and Le Man's cars have used them for that purpose. đđ
When wasn't enthusiastic about what he was doing he literally sounded like a history teacher
LMFAO... I love your paint booth. WOW, lol.
i think that more quiet and detailed explanation part was nice too
Also Kev, your doing great out there racing man and I'd also look into changing your cars set up. My local Track manager is a Associated team driver and he has all the set ups for different driving. On Associateds website there is a tab if you search your car that shows different set ups for your cars spec
Tyres are a big part of the racing setup, but its hard to get it perfect by only changing tyres. Look into geometry changes. Roll centres and link angles make a huge difference!
Very cool Kev. I'm not sure what the done thing is these days but a little extra weight up front usually helps with 2wD....unless you've done that already.
You need to put battery's, and everything in, and look closely when you lift the front to make sure both come off the ground at the same time, repeat for rear, then recheck front, and rear again. Run the less tow in in the rear, and zero tow in front, about 1/2degree or negative cambor in front. Center trim check how it drives, and adjust mechanically to straighten if it veers too much, electronically if it's not bad. This has worked for me pretty good.
I like your mobile paint booth, Kev. Brilliant. đ€Ł
Hahaha the paint booth đ€Ł kev that tickled me
Kev. Check the difs on the Project 100mph car. If the front and rear tyres are doing a slightly different speed it will never go in a straight line. Maybe refurb the difs and make sure they have the same grease in each.
I nearly fell asleep when you just spoke normal đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł BOOM that better, shout đđ»
The level of sarcasm across the ocean is epic đ
I truly like when Kev goes.
BOOOOOOMMMM.
Try to get the center of mass further towards the front of the car. In rocketry and rc planes, having a the right cg is important for stability.
Kev i've been having the same issue when trying to speed run a modified WLToys. I even put a gyro in it. My next move is to increase the WT in the rear diffs and see if that works.
I love the paint booth lol heated with filtered air even lol
'Paint booth' OMG your killing me đ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Love the paint booth đ
âŒïž 100Mph cheap WL toys. Try gripper lower shore value tires. Make sure that the front and back tire diameters are the same (to make sure the rears do not over run the front). Lastly a little wider rear may help. đ„đȘđ»
Kevin... I had a thought .... For your 100 mph buggy.
It you were to find a way to get a set of wheels that have some OFFSET...
That way the wheels sit inside more.. meaning a smaller gap between the front tires... Make the front as much skinnier than the back.. as possible...
With some offset wheels it is possible..
That SHOULD help.. SHOULD... but that's not guaranteed obviously.. It should theoretically though
Kevin, the heater you have there is a 'heat pump' and they are excellent. However they become very inefficient once the temperature goes below about 5C and in freezing temps they are worse. That's why they aren't as popular in the UK. Plus to heat a house you a few units and an outside unit for each indoor one. It could end up more expensive than gas central heating to run, but then that was when gas was cheapâŠ
Well just had a mini split system installed in the us for $7800. Lowest bid for conventional heat pump system was $1200. Cost less. Ductless to bedrooms wall unit in living room. 3 bedroom 1700sq
Once you mix them properly with electric or others then you can get some efficient heating for sure
Kev the cheap 100mph car has to much positive camber if its spinning like you stated. Setting the wheels with negative camber helps
compensate for the camber change while cornering. Try front toe straight as possible & rear toe both in about 3/4 degrees.
adding a few degrees of toe-in will take some of the edge off of steering response but.. will improve on the straights đ
â€đđ WaFFle WAffLE WaffLE! đ€Șđ Tires đ You Most definitely got the Right Stuff Kevin! Your Positive Energy is always uplifting and inspiring and always puts a smile on my face đđ
I would ask around for racing setups. Also, it takes a alot of practice and trial to find a setup that works for you. But at the end, consistency is paramount in racing.
Good thing with scroll zone HVAC System, Kevin. I hope your energy bills in the UK are to be 'affordable' this winter. Maybe a home built drone to fly into the maniacs Dacha?
The mobile paint booth đđđđ
You must be the only guy who's real car collection consists of a monster truck, Lamborghini.....and a Rover?! đđđđđđ Love it
Makes me think of little Rabbitsđ hopping along chasing one another...đ€Łđ€Ł Hopalong Cassidyđ to mutch power for those little cars. Dial it down a little bit and maybe it'll take the corners better..
Love the paint booth
Get yourself some Bob Smith industries tire glue. Awesome needle thin tip and medium flow. Works great, no mess!
Love the paint booth Kev đđ
I got a 13000BTU unit, that day it was 40c you wouldn't have never even known it was summer outside in my home lol
Dude your paint both đis awesome!
Fuel tube on the rear shocks on the little speed car to limit the travel on the rear shocks which will stop the front from lifting above the back and making the front go all light and then want to swap ends when you make a tiny input of the steering or the front wheels move
Tire wheel boooooooom! Perfection! Keep âshoutingâ we love you!
I added a mini split in my garage. Best investment ever!
Lmao, the paint room! đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
love that ur paint booth is ur rover haha
love your spray boothe đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Kev! On your sosige rc car you should try band the tyres on those aluminium rims with metal ties. They are stuuupidely strong and i guearantee they will hold the tyres on the rims and combined with glue... think were onto something!
The paint booth ! Iâm â ïžđ€Ł
For the right grip you have to adjust the balance of the car to the tires used. If you have too much or too little rear grip on a set of tires you need to change the pill inserts on the rear of your car. Other things can be done as well, but will affect steering more violently.
Iâd be happy to help you out if you want, should be an easy fix. Just drop me a line.
with that car always swapping ends, tow in on the rear can cause the rear to be loose. maybe try having the rear dead with no tow. If you haven't tried changing the front end, tow in should make the front steer less and keep it going straight. might work, worth a try
Value packed episode, T.I.T.S. this week. Thanks Kev!
Awww the poor Rover-gini is a paint booth now. đ
Try using gel super glue takes a lil longer to dry. You can control the flow better and use a little isopropyl alcohol, after it drys to remove any excess glue but there's not going to be a lot unless you use a lot. If you try it let me know what you think. đ€
This is just an idea but your cheap fast rc might be swapping ends because the rear tires are expanding at speed more than the front tires. The larger diameter causes the rears to over speed the fronts and thus wants to swap ends. Try using the same sized tires (tyres on your side of the pond) on the front so that they all stay the same diameter when they expand. I think you or Raz tried to gear the fronts on one of your cars to âpullâ the car along. You could also try putting the tires on front to back and see if it still does it. Rear on fronts and fronts on rear.
I like to keep a few different rolls of tape around the different sizes inside the roll of tape some of them are perfect for gluing tires you take the tape roll and push it down around the edge of the tire and it holds the tire down around the whole bead while you put the glue on the inside then you just let go of the roll of tape and the tire snaps back around the whole bead
Hahahaha awesome paint booth!
Paint booth HAHAHA terrific!
Damn, Greta was on one in this vid! Also agree on air con, 3 years ago I couldnt work from my work shop at home and decided to get an aircon unit, best thing I ever bought.
Hi Kev,
Maybe 100mph car is trying to spin because Gyro is working in the opposite way.
You can switch compensation direction by double clicking receiver button (while car is on). Good luck:)
Love your channel bud my Wltoys 104002 has gone 84 mph it will do 90 mph this weekend straight as an arrow glad to help you figure it out you can check it on H and W rc racing channel theses car are very picky but once there set there a dream to speed run almost no steering
Tire sauce, helps with grip alot and you can get stuff for foam
The paint booth!!!!!đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
âThe paint boothâ. Too funny
I've switched to the thicker gel like glue for tires. Easier to control it, while the thinner glues run out everywhere like water.
i would love to see you get a trx4 mini when they come out and i want to know if it is any good. keep up the good work kev.
Looking forward to seeing the Kyosho build đ
What in the world painting on cardboard in the car. That was hilarious đ
That rival mt10 looks amazing at @2:33
Nice paint booth đ
Nice pink barbie jeep upstairs.đ€Ł
Tow out with more camber out 3degrees at least.. it looks dumb but it will run str8er.. works on erevo..vxl 6s brushless .. Crazy yeah racing.. đ
Your suspension looks like it's squatting on the right side when you put it down on the track as well like you have less shock oil, bad shock oil, different grade of shock oil or bad shock oil. The springs or the setup of the springs could be out as well.
The paint booth đđđ
Kevin? I am from Sweden, here evecrybody have that air/air heatet and it is awesome. I have No electric radiators What so ever. You UK peeps have too much reliabilitet into gas, but it is time to change that with you đđ
The best (and cleanest) way to glue tires is to buy them pre-glued like I do! đ
