Yes, although xmods were something I never had (I was a young adult at the time.. living my best life haha)

@@TomleyRC I didn’t have Xmods kit either growing up, but had gotten a kit for my son, just as they were phazing them out. They were pretty cool, but to get upgrade kits equal to what you get in this HeX kit, I would’ve had to spend so much more money.

@@BangForYourBuckRc I had the blue Honda Civic variant from back in the day. I was 12 and my dad got my brother the RSX for our birthday from Radio Shack. While they were not hobby-grade per se, they had tons of customization and brought me into the hobby. Great times.

Most of the fun I have with RC centers around building them. With the trend going more towards the RTR side of things, its good to see a builders kit still available for kids to get started with.

I like this video a lot, something about your accent, smooth tone and the fact that I love R/C's and I'm just in ahhh about these cars. Never thought an R/C could be changed so easy, even as a kid you could do it. I just had one with 4 body pins and interchangeable bodysuits, this has everything!

When I was in this age category we only had mini slot cars. There was a massive wooden track in town. We rode our bikes there to test our slots against the rest of the town’s early tweekers!

@@rambomacleod2927 i think you are the one who outed their self. He was referring to tweaking his slot cars, tuning them and upgrading them. He wasn't referring to tweaking on speed like you and your buddies use to do apparently.
We had X-Mods cars probably 17 years ago or so. Most of the upgrades were sold separately. I bought my wife a WRX with all the fixings.
My 13 year old loves RCS and building them. Finishing up a Tamiya Super Hot Shot right now. Looks like an awesome Christmas gift to get us through the 5 months of winter! And he has played with Hex bugs so this works great. Thank you!

One of the few times I'd rather enjoy watching a video on an RC car then actually drive it. Looks like fun building it, but I cannot justify the price here in AUS. Very well done video, I liked how you changed the parts while keeping the car in the same spot.

What an awesome toy! When you introduced this I was worried it might just be a case of great idea but with poor execution and then seeing how the red car drove to begin with I was thinking it was a fail. However the 4WD conversion made all the difference. I want to be a kid again so I can open the big set on Christmas Day 😂 The tuneability is really what would excite me the most although it is also important the car is fun to drive.

The thing that impressed me the most was how you able to get those rolling shots from the car at 9:45. This is pretty cool I will probably get this for my nephew!

Definitely a rebirth of the X-mod. Definitely like the tunability/customization options. Still, for just a little more money I would probably pick the Carisma GT24 Subaru over this... with the 8000kv brushless motor and 2s lipo that comes stock, those things scream!

That's exactly what I was thinking. I still got my mustang and acura rsx models. I bring them out once in a while for nestolgia sake, wish they had a lipo battery though. They eat aaa batteries for breakfast, lol

this actually shows why my preference of car for race is not a short car, but neither too long, and preference of control and steering over speed. goes for RC, irl and videogame cars alike.

They were around when we were kids, they were called X-Mods. Usually bought from Radio Shack here in the States!

Dude! My nephew and me was the first in the area to get our hands on a red and white Toyota supra xmod from radio shack back in the day. This looks awesome!
Reminds me of Zip-Zaps I loved as a kid. They were made by radio-shack back when they were THE electronic place to shop. Sadly you can’t find them much anymore.
Wow, they look really good! It would be nice to have had a servo for the steering, but for the price you can't really complain. Very tempting....

I genuinely hope that these become huge! Great price point, looks like decent quality, now we just need replacement or 3rd party parts. I really miss XMods, I had the copper 350z and the Transformers Police Mustang, loved them both, think they were stolen though, they just disappeared out of my stuff years ago.

We had Zip Zaps in the smaller scale. My kids have these and enjoy changing them from street to drift.
I bought an MN99 for my nephew to learn how it works and to learn how to handle screwdriver etc... this would be better option as its indoor oriented :)) great video, thanks :)

We had these when we were kids. You could get them from Radio Shack. I'm 46 years old. My brother and I would change all the parts around between the cars. They still have the same type of remote gun we had when we were young.

deff a x-mods rework. very excited to see how these work out! seen it at target and now regretting not getting a kit
xmods are what made me fall in love with rc. i still like 1/28 scale the most because you can use bodys off of typical model kits if you retrofit them. mini z is terribly overprices but they are great cars although ive never owned one.
Just got mine out of Goodwill brand new for $25USD, can't wait to build it!!!

Like the other comment said it's either the same team or inspired by the bods who made Xmods back in the day! I had the Celica converted to 4wd with full lights and underglow with a bigger motor had a few body kits and wheel sets for it! Imagine the orange one in Fast 1 painted white! Sooo wish had kept it now though!

my dad got me one off these ffrom radio shack back in the day but it was way smaller like a picker racer and you could change all the gear out and bodies and make them quickers and shit this video got me excited im buying one.

I was shocked when I looked at the price of model kits.....back when I was a kid, $2.00 for an ok one, $3.49 for a really good one. I'd shovel someone's walk in the winter for a dollar and do 2 or 3 and off I'd go to the department store.....

My yellow skyline was maxed out and then got stolen.
Still got my blue Scooby, yellow skyline, silver supra and orange 350z
if you look at the chassis they are different too. But the same idea.....
They also have a purple truck which is pretty cool
