Oh you go girl!! When I first learned to spin I belonged to a guild and thus did lots of demos. I much preferred those that were not requiring some type of period cloths. Yes I love the history, but I want people to realize there are those of us who still spin our own yarn and weave cloth.

Hi Trish, I don't usually comment but loved it when you kindly, but directly addressed the Wool 'n' Folk question. I'm not in the US but I got so tired of the relentless gossip about this less than satisfactory event. I understood people's disappointment and concerns, but the volume on this was ridiculous. I liked your sensible stand. Oh, and my spinning and appreciation of fibre has developed so much over the past few years thanks to you. All the best. Kris

Thank you so much. It was not attractive to see so many people who weren't even there jumping on the situation like hungry wolves and all just to make some money or chase some clout. I don't think I could look myself in the mirror exploiting things like that, but I'm from a generation before social media I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️

    You know I love a long video. ❤ I hope you don’t mind a long comment! 😂
I see fauxlags for sale at fiber fests and on Etsy. I used to sell those before I had a drum carder, but found that batts travel better, so I stick with those.
I know what you’re saying about that drive to create. I feel like all my ideas are a bursting river backed up behind the dam of Not-Enough-Time!
Don’t feel bad about the screws in the base of the EEW…I did the exact same thing. 😂
About supporting makers, financially… For me, this is a no-brainer. Just because the product isn’t necessarily something tangible, it’s still your time it’s still your knowledge, and I am still benefiting from it. Plus, I love supporting artists, so that there’s not just more art in the world, but that I continue my belief that maybe one day I can be among them.

I love the way you put it that it's not a waste to use good quality supplies if you're learning. I use that same argument to buy good quality art supplies for my son but I've never applied it to my spinning. Thanks for connecting those two points!

I think that's why I don't worry about my small batch spins...I know they will get used in "something". I've found that advent, hat and sock patterns are perfect for these. I think the longer fibers come off more cleanly...and making sure you have a good long fiber layer on as a base before you add anything short helps. I just like a diz for pulling fiber off my combs. I thought it looked familiar lol, it was fun getting and using that starter bundle. I still have some left cuz I saved it to blend with other things because I liked the colors too. I've still only used RIT on fabrics.

I am going to contradict Trish on Rit dye. Before I do , Trish's experience with Rit dye is the normal thing. For whatever reason , maybe they changed formulas, but I have always exhausted the dye when I dye wool. I haven't had run off when I wash the yarn after using Rit. I haven't had fading or run off even when I didn't heat set the yarn. I have done this with more than one color so I don't understand what I do to cause this experience. So you mileage may vary but it is worth a try with Rit dye. Oh and their black dye will never give you black. It gives a funky green that is pleasant but not black.
