I think hearing, "I'm finally Korean I have the eyes", might be the most ignorantly racist thing I've heard. A man could be mixed and have no visible attributes of an average Korean man but that doesn't make him any less Korean. Why is it so bad to say I'm a white English man who loves Jimin from BTS and Korean culture? Why isn't that enough? 2 of my cousin's married into Korean families and I attended the weddings and quite a few parties since and Koreans are much more then physical appearances and the way they speak.

you see the thing is him transitioning into being a korean is soo bad in itself (esp since he's white) because being a minority group, and transitioning into a different race/culture/ethnicity, i cant even put it to words. The struggles that they go through as per being in that race/culture/ethnicity is something that he would never have to experience and never would and honestly its disgusting because being part of a minority group isn't something you can switch and change like its an accessory. Don't even get me started with him trying to be Jimin, because that's just identity theft and honestly must be sued for that. However, in terms of lawsuit since he only claimed the name and idk never said he was Jimin from BTS, i feel like even if they did sue him he would find a way out.

He claims to have lived in Korea for 9 years (yet i can pronounce better than him {not a native}) and Frenchy Morgan did expose him when they dated about him trying to stay "current" for clout. E.g. Black Lives Matter protests and stuff just to seem decent. I feel like he knows what he is doing and is loving the attention but there is a chance that it could be a delusional attachment.

Fun fact, Jimin straight up threatened to sue Oli London due to Oli apparently harassing Jimin commenting and texting Jimin things like “oppa (means daddy in Korean) Jimin is mine” now Jimin actually found Oli’s whole thing humorous at first as a joke but when it continued, the comments kept coming in and even his own bandmates started to tease him Jimin had threatened Oli with legal action if the harassment of texts and mail/packages didn’t stop coming Jimin even saying that it made him “uncomfortable”.
Just a quick thing, and I'm not trying to be rude here so please don't take it as that, but oppa doesn't mean daddy, it's a term that a woman would say to address a man (a friend, or an idol in this instance) who is older than them. Hyung is a similar term, but is used by a younger man to address an older man, you'll hear it a lot in male kpop groups when they address their older members. So he's not calling Jimin daddy, he's using the incorrect term and being creepy as fuck about it. I geniunely hope he and Jimin never cross paths

Like I'm so frustrated with all of this. Kaitlyn Jenner used to complain about transphobia towards her all the time and now she's thrown other trans people under the bus. Then we get weirdos like Oily London doing increasingly crazy things for attention and in the UK Rishi Sunak is getting rid of legal protections for trans people and I'm absolutely sick of this, and people wonder why the transgender suicide rate is so high, it's because of twats. This all started with JKR, ever since she opened her gob it's been a relentless attack on transgender people who just want to live their lives in peace, the idea that trans people are trying to get into public bathrooms on purpose is just obsurd because public bathrooms are literally gross and full of germs. I'm the child of a trans person and I'm honestly sick and tired of people making out that trans people are trying to get involved in other people's lives. They aren't. They just want to live their lives, they didn't choose to be transgender and honestly people like Oily London should be shot.

@@Liamm032 Being a therapist can be super stressful because you have a bunch of people confiding in you about things and you're not allowed to tell anyone else about it. So having your own therapist as a therapist you can relate to them and talk about what you need to talk about because they understand it and you don't have to reveal any information you're not supposed to. Also, I'm studying to become a therapist and I currently have a therapist. She helps me deal with more personal problems. But she also gives me advice on my career. Without her I might self combust. But I also have a couple people in my life I can confide in even though they aren't therapists. Basically, everyone needs a therapist. Therapists are great. I don't think it would start a chain reaction of therapists needing therapy, I think the second therapist would just need to have a glass of wine every now and then.

I think the problem is here is that he’s basing his identity on aesthetic and surface level aspects of Korean culture. He’s nit picked the ‘best bits’ of the Korean culture and think that’s enough to be Korean. Like Daz said, if he really wanted to be Korean, he should fully immerse himself in the culture and earn his place in the community. Having appreciation and respect for Korean culture can be considered flattering, but claiming you identify as said nationality with such vanity I don’t think constitutes that nationality’s adoration.

One of the main issues is, is that this isn’t even a genuine love and admiration for the South Korean culture. It’s a specific obsession with a niche part of it (Kpop - BTS - Jimin).
Does it matter, at the end of the day, What his reasonings are? We don’t ask trans/fluid people to explain themselves in a manner we perceive as sufficient, Why does this matter?

Personally, I think that if this guy had just kept it to himself and not gone around making youtube videos and going on tv about it then I would have no problem and it would get much less hate and probably wouldnt actually hurt anyone. The way I see it now this is hurting someone. I cant begin to imagine what this makes jimin or other kpop stars think or what it makes korean people think but it cant be broadly good. I agree with daz in that this is definately a serious mental health issue that actually need looking at and he needs it explaining to him that he could actually become a korean national by going there and applying for a citizenship.

My opinion does not have a massive amount of evidence behind it though so may be wrong. I am basing almost all of my opinion on this video and a couple of quick google searches for videos of doctor phil and the videos the clips are from
Me, a Korean American that’s also half white that was bullied severely growing up in America bc I went to a Christian school full of white people to the point I attempted unalive in 7th grade. I’m shocked. They made me feel less human because I was mixed and that I was mixed with an Asian race. They called me Kim Jung Un, Psy and other names.

I have a friend who is Korean, and he’s also transgender. He saw this guys’ videos and was absolutely horrified at the blatant cultural appropriation. And not to mention the fact that he’s acting as if he’s transgender. “Coming out” “transitioning” and during PRIDE MONTH. As if this is something related to the lgbt community??? Absolutely not. I’m not Korean nor transgender, but I’m gay and have had my fair share of people demeaning my humanity because of that. In the US there’s still 30+ states that allow people to get off with killing gay & transgender people without consequence, yet people like him are allowed to walk around and spend thousands of dollars pretending to be another ethnicity. Absolute insanity.

To liken himself to a transgender person…I have no words. In short, experiencing debilitating gender dysphoria from a young age, and fetishising a group of people in the years after moving to their country and thus changing your appearance as a result, IS *NOT* THE SAME THING.
I feel as though he’s undermining the experiences of transgender people by likening his own warped sense of thought and experience to their lifelong gender dysphoria.

The difference between trans people transitioning and oli “transitioning” is that trans people and people identifying as other genders doesn’t hurt anyone. Oli’s surgery’s might have never hurt anyone but when he posted it online that changed. He perpetuates south Asian fetishisation, a disrespect of a culture and an obsession with an idol that makes other fans of said idol look bad. Whilst deciding you feel better being referred to as they/them does not affect cis people in any negative way.
