    Carol is a breath of fresh air, the child of a famous parent who doesn’t bad mouth her parent. Carol also seems like a charming person to talk to whoever was her parent.

    As an Australian who was partly educated in the UK (Cambridge) I started watching this thinking I would click onto something else after a few minutes; but I was hooked and greatly entertained through to the end.

      Maggie’s dad was a grocer with a small shop in Grantham. Her husband however was avery sharp cookie and did make a pile of dough.

      I find her quite ordinary, she just repeats what's been said to her by her father and advisors. She doesn't go out of her way to empathise. Thatcher's legacy = blood on her hands but Carol has zero curiosity about people might think that. It's the
      Conservative strategy to just simply block out what you don't want to hear.

      I suppose, she's not allow any questions that matter.
      No guilt whatsoever!!!
      Others supposed to feel sorry for their ancestors keeping slaves but it's ok for Carol Thatcher to ignore the carnage her mother had caused!!
      People with CJD still suffer the consequences of her mother's actions!
      But this subject is banned from TV!
      We are learning from the NK how to manage our country by censorship!

      Did she do anything good for children for example during the years at the number 10? Raised any money for the poor, disabled or for schools, any kind of charity work as she has had an opportunity to do so much, being where she was!!
      The answer is No!! Nothing!

    That was absolutely fascinating. I could have gone on for another hour listening to her and her unique life. I very much enjoyed this, many thanks indeed for the interview. She is one of those whom you would love to be sat beside at a lunch. Well done. My takeaway line is the one she quoted of her father: whales don't get killed until they spout. So lovely to hear from her.

    "Admired the way she juggled it" what beautiful perspective! As a working mum (no one ever says working dad ha ha) in the late 90s and 2000s it is a constantly a juggle! What a refreshing interview this is - and she lived in Australia, I never knew this, cheers for the lovely chat.

    I saw Mrs. Thatcher attending an outside event in cold weather ,where she was shocked to see little children standing waiting for it to begin.
    She encouraged then to jump about to keep warm ,showing by by example .Even thought it made her look foolish ,a grown woman in professional clothing complete with her favourite handbag ,she didn`t care ,
    Her thoughts were with the childrens` wellbeing .

      I dont know if this was the event you are referring to or a different one but I clearly remember reading about on one of her state visits abroad Mrs Thatcher was horrified to see small children dressed on a freezing day in skimpy costumes about to perform some kind of dance to greet her. Apparently she said via her translator "You either get these children some warm clothes immediately or I am leaving now!"

      She was racist towards a guest , as I recall, used some old fashioned language, maybe didn't mean to offend, but some words and terms belong in the past and aren't acceptable and as a fully grown educated person she should know that, and noone owes her a media career.

    Love the way Carol explains everything to the lucky journalist. Who actually hasn't really got very interesting questions. Matt should have asked for more suggestions. Instead of relying on old media stories.

    What those slimy excuses for men did to MT was absolutely grotesque… Hesseltine was a deeply unsavoury character - it was wonderful to watch him and all the other toads so unsuccessful thereafter. They will all be remembered as prime examples of cowardly traitors and this will be their earned place in history. I think
    Maggie will be remembered increasingly well in the annals of British History.

    Mrs Thatcher got us out of trouble many times. She was wonderful in the EU, the other members had a respect for her. Carol is a real Dear! X

    Absolutely fantastic it brings back memories of my father, he thought the world of Margaret Thatcher, the amount of arguments he had with people sticking up for her I lost count, living in Leeds !! I was young I’m now 56 and absolutely still have a soft spot for Carol. If could have one wish in life would be to spend a day with Carol would be utter brilliance

    Mrs Thatcher was and still is my HERO , she has put UK on the Map and an example to the world. That is why her legacy will be here forever.
    She certainly will be my HERO as long as I live.
    Carole comes across as a very respectful daughter

    This is absolutely the truth….. I literally thought of Carol yesterday wondering what had happened to her following the SCANDAL of her referring to a v v popular toy I had and loved back in the ‘50’s. Eventually the cancellers will cancel themselves because there will be literally nothing left.

      I owned one too and loved it! We now live in the modern age where they try and make us awful people of that time,but I believe we have a better understanding of how the world develops. We had no hate as they like to think we had in those days!

      @@maggiem.1539I can only assume you love those grotesque toys, because you weren’t blessed with an abundance of melanin. I was born in the 1960’s, and that depiction was regularly used as a racist insult and slur throughout my childhood. Intersectionality only exists for a minority of women. The sooner BW realise, and accept that not all women are their allies, and that some of them are just as racist as their men, the better!
      What a breeze it must be to only have to concern yourself with sexism!

      I’ve never understood this. I had such a toy but it was no more real to me than the stuffed dog my sister had and in the innocence of childhood you don’t make those connections

    Haven't heard about her for many years. She's in good form. Australia is a wonderful country to live from my experience. i miss it terribly.

    This lady is a credit to her family. A very delightful to listern to. Sad so many are not practical like this person.
