These new elite specializations look awesome. You know what could be more awesome, being able to save our build. Just like in gw1.
Yes please! We need build templates.
For each gamemode. I like how your WvW build auto changes to what you previously used in WvW but we need multiple in each gamemode.
Especially with another set of elite specs coming, swappin builds will prob be even more important.
And guild capes
spinotic PLEASEEE THIS IS IMPORTANT
spinotic yeah like a character page where you can save your build and your armor/weapons sets so you can save inventory slots. That will encourage to use different sets of builds and stat gear....aaaaaand capes as long as possible. And also the firebrand to use an actual tome instead of empty hands with papers floating around....
Yes I agree, i miss saving my builds and loading it conveniently
This kind of videos are realy entertaining!
It honestly shows the work and the thought they put behind the game!
2:24 Gw2 ASMR
ThePandaFrenzy
That sound is incredible👌🏼
*Communes with this vid of power"
I especially liked the insight into audio design at 2:11 as I don't think it's given the attention it ought to be. Sound is huge part of why I personally enjoy certain elements of gameplay and why I don't enjoy other elements. Whether it's the beautiful teleport sound of phase retreat, the channel of mass invis or the burst of mind wrack, the audio has a big impact on satisfaction when playing, and personally I'd say it has a bigger impact on me than the visual effect or even sometimes gameplay mechanics.
Having said that I do have to comment on the updated sound effect for Alacrity recently - it is... painful sadly and really puts me off playing chrono unless turning the effects volume down. Would be nice to see this sound effect changed for something less headache inducing. In addition I am a little apprehensive about the sound of the phantasmal axes for the axe ambush skill - listening to the preview videos by various content creators, the phantasmal axe projectiles sound... well, irritating I suppose? Like someone shaking a high pitched rattle, which is more than just not satisfying but a bit unpleasant.
Anyway just thought I'd feedback on those two sound effects because other than that I love mesmer and have an interest in the sound effects for this class. :)
Yep, I'm hyped.
0:50 2:24 mesmer, 1:11 holosmith, 1:26 3:58 scourge, 3:13 weaver, 4:40 everyone else :( feels bad man
I would love to work with them. Everybody looks so passionated about what they are doing. That's why we love the game as well.
The video is really well filmed and edited, the video editor did a really good job! Also, of course, very excited about the expansion! Can't come fast enough
The sound designer(s) are just the best, my god how underrated they are on this team! I looooove the intricate sound design on the mesmer skills especially. Can't wait.
So excited to try these all out!
Really enjoyed this video! I love hearing what different designers have to say about their experiences in various parts of the game, and it was super cool to hear from one of the sound engineers about the kind of thing they go for when designing a specific set of abilities. Would love to hear more from them, seems like they have one of the coolest jobs at the company.
Really looking forward to play it! Love the game, and these sound good, thank you for putting so much effort in the game!
Xpan looks exciting. All it's missing now for more hype is buttcapeless medium armor. :)
You guys are just awesome! All the hard work and dedication in making each specialization feel different and exciting is just a marvel to behold! I can't wait to try out Holosmith! 💜
well done, looking forward to more videos like these
already hyped to try out all the new specs
Messing around in the audio department actually looks pretty cool.
Can't wait to try them out
non of the dead eye was mentioned feelsbad =c
maybe we are lucky and they pull the plug on that one.
Still got more screen time than soulbeast, they have never talked in depth about it, deadeye has been given a lot of time in interviews.
Love these videos Anet - keep up the good work guys.
I loved this trailer what a great little interview thing honestly one of the best you've done guys. (huge karl mclain btw, u go dude).
Main ele here. Please don't forget classic specialisations, make them viable aswell, don't force us choose elites. Keep the good job, love this game and new coming expansion. Cheers!
Hyped to see a spellbreaker Vs spellbreaker
I love this game, and I am so glad that after years of playing it that the game is stronger than ever.
Cool stuff :) ty guys can't wait!
Just reached level 70 on my Ranger!
I'm getting there slowly.
I'm excited! For all specs tbh(maybe even mostly for the professions I dont main particularly) Cant wait! ^^
Dervish and Paragon Scythe weapons and land base Spear weapon we can still wait for that to come
i think all weapons that are left for warrior wouldn't suit him so i was thinking of on land spear. that would be great
A Net, never leave the world! Please more videos like this please.
do we get new combo fields too? im still bothered by soulbeast not seeing pets. anyone excited for deadeye? with action camera maybe we can relive some more FPS action
Holy Molly, the amount of effort. This game is awesome!
Love the Mesmer sounds.
This video looks awesome. I understand it's a cinematic, but it's much more detailed and bright and feels different to my normal gameplay.
For example, the enemies and players feel like they have weight. When they fall or dodge, etc.
It feels way much better. Any settings I could tweak?
Looks like Mesmer and Engi got the most development attention this xpac, should be interesting to see if the other specs pale in comparison
Really good job.
Balancing a game is probably up there with the toughest jobs, respect :D
FEELS GOOD MAN
any other players worried that they never mention or talk about the deadeye like they just didn't care fro it or put much into it
My understanding is this: They are trying to subtly bring back the build customization of GW1. In GW1, you could use ANY other profession as your secondary, but were limited in how powerful your spells/skills were. Specializations are their solution.
Specializations are ok but certain specs feel better than others. For example the mirage seems much more unique and full-fledged than the deadeye.
Plinious And the HOLOSMITH looks the best of them all. But what's your point? Thieves have never had it as bad as engineers have. While thieves are an easy profession to pick up but hard to master, engineers have always been hard to pick up and EVEN harder to master. Now when another profession is BETTER than your thief you cry foul. God, you can never please some people...
I don't play as thief. But it's clear that elite specs are not balanced.
Plinious I'll agree with you there.
Plinious Thats just preference
I would argue otherwise. While some feel more fleshed out it's probably because your comparing the same things. Mirages mechanics are more fleshed out and newer but their new weapon is basic. On the other hand deadeye rifle is completely unique and a more defining element to their new spec rather than the mechanic
Interesting!
When are we going to get Guild capes? we had them back in GW 1 ):
Giving the option for Necros to have a support/party based role (while removing every other viable role)
Really hoping you guys talk a little bit more about Deadeye at some-point. I'm a little worried the e-spec was designed with only giving fan service the countless "rifle thief when???" forum posts in mind without actually considering what role it'll play in most content. Extremely looking forward to finally having powerful support on Guardian with Firebrand, though.
Good job guys game is amazing,i said good bye to Wow 3 month ago and started gw2,am telling myself where i was before, why i did not try gw2 earlier )) keep up the good work game fantastic ty for that
It doesn't matter what they do with any new patch, upgrade, expansion, etc. despite their best intentions, no matter how much background work went on to make sure everything runs smooth from the get-go, there's always... ALWAYS... pre-and-post-patch lag, and you can guarantee that something with this many mechanics in the engine will always go inadvertently haywire, especially if it's not related to the expansion/patch at all. It's just the way it is with this game, and always has been. =)
Looks epic xD... must buy.
Interesting that they mentioned that they have to think about how the changes affect the core gameplay. Warrior and its own elite spec Berserker would like to have a word with you all.
Anet...Thank you...
I just had 1 question..if a firebrand use their tome..can he still use his weapon skill?
The tome skills do replace weapon skills until you've spent them.
Awesome Anet! 😏👍😎
Nice office.
Cool! :D
I have a question. I want to buy an expansion for the game, and since I live in Turkey, it gets expensive because 1 dollar equals 3,5 Turkish Liras. And I'm asking that should I buy HoT now or wait for the Path of Fire to come out?
Edit: I am a thief-mesmer main
UGH- What I would give to work here one day DX
Will be able to see other peoples profiles/ builds?
What does ArenaNet do when they finish working out a game? Do they make updates? Plan a new expansion after the release?
Theyre constantly working on stuff, ie Season 4 of the LW
They continue to support the game with a new story update, and new maps, every 3 or so months.
I like these videos
It would be a good idea to create a new weapon (Lance), many would find it interesting to use the guardian with spear and shield or something similar, do not you think?. Regards :)
I'd like these types of videos after some "Balance" updates
What is the max lvl is
The specializations were also going to "significantly change the profession you were playing", and look how that turned out.
All in all, it's just typical marketing, but it looks great.
wish Necro would use torch as a mainhand.. spice it up a little.
2:49
What spec is that?
0:11 LIGHTSABER?!
are they ever gonna add new weapons to the game or give the classes access to other of the old weapons?!
Thief in a 3rd expansion should wield a greatsword and be called assassin. A homage to gw1 resembling a katana wielding ninja😊
Wait a minute..
Last scene. Why is there a holosmith..
with a hammer? o.O
It creates weapons with it's holo-powerz.
No soulbeast showed in the video, or even talked about :[
yeah that sucks
Because it's just another condi focused trait line and weapon. There's nothing TO talk about.
Serendipity Kitty wroooong there is alot to talk about with the soulbeast. For example How does the vanilla traitlines work while they don't have their pet out?
Actually when you think about it, in terms of elite specs, soulbeast probably has the MOST to talk about in comparison to other elite specs. As QuagganBacon pointed out, there's the topic of the old traitlines (especially beastmastery) and how they work with this new system. There are a TON of traits that could be rendered useless if they just don't do anything with a merged pet.
I didn't think they would go into detail regarding this anyway, but they could have at least shown us some more animations and talked about the idea behind it a bit. I believe they at least mentioned every other elite spec.
I don't think they talked about thief, but they at least showed a clip of it :P
Funny Ranger was not mentioned ONE DAMN TIME.
3:37 dudes watching a pubg stream on the far left monitor LOL
I feel like this isnt the same approach for EoD elite specs... and that saddens me.
Low key best mmo tbh
4:30 world boss confirmed? Maybe?
They confirmed world bosses on announcement. Plus we have the legendary bounties, which are basically mini world bosses.
Out of curiosity, is there someone like Wooden Potatoes out there, but with a lower voice? It's "nitpicky", but I find high registers less pleasant to the ears.
Don't mess up Karl. The Boogaloo is watching you
Soul beast? Where are you??
i can already smell the comments from the middle of the video: nothing on soulbeast? pffft.
WEAVER HYPE
They didn't mention the Soulbeast once. Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that Rangers are getting shafted?
I have that feeling, but I also haven't seen any other videos talk about the soulbeast. It could be at the point that they don't have enough to show... but considering the playable demo for elite specs is this weekend... doubtful.
TarrekonHigh 2 different developers mentioned things about Mesmer and nothing about your class. As a on and off player it always feel like Mesmer, ele always get favoritism
Translation of subtitles to Portuguese in the game. When are we going to have it?
We played an excellent game, that we do not know the story and what we are doing. We only want subtitles in Portuguese, do not need GM or audio.
Regards,
Thank you.
u can also just learn english
I'm BRAZILIAN, my friend, my language is Portuguese and I'm very proud. English is not the official language of the world.
ok lol
Now Wooden Potatoes can make his content about specs :D
Yep, 40 minute video recapping what was said here!
HYYYYPE
So hyped. Wasn't high on HoT but PoF is looking amazing
Can we use the elite specs from HoT with the new elite specs? i mean mix them both in the same build !
Nope.
If you open up the Traits and Specializations panel in GW2 right now, you will see that the Elite Specialization is only "featured" in the bottommost of the three panels.
That is to indicate that you can only have one. The complexity of adding two Elite specializations together would be insurmountable and pretty much just impossible.
Nope; they confirmed that right from the get-go with the first batch. Elite specs are mutually exclusive; you can only use one at a time, no mix and matching them.
i have a very big problem with the german "translation" of the scourge...
you basically named it "pestbringer" (yes, the german name is actually PESTBRINGER)
pestbringer means something like plague bearer, and that obviously has NOTHING to do with a manipulator of sand and lost souls... please rename :X
Maethen Dias Considering it appears to be the next condi specialization for Necro, I think the name is very appropriate. Sand is not the only thing you'll find on a desert.
dem camera panes
I would play this if I could recover my damn account. :)
I just hope the holosmith doesn't turn out like scrapper....
You mean a PVP beast?
He means completely worthless in PvE.
I agree it is awesome for pvp but, when it comes to pve it was lack luster I played since launch on engi and the scapper didn't feel like a breath of air at all when heart of thorns came... I just hope the Holosmith is very balance and a nice breath of fresh air for pvp and pve...
Почему нету Русской локализации??? Планируется ли она вообще?
heh this game looks better than pay to win Black desert :p
9/22/17 can't get here soon enough, so many choices! My Ele Main is definitely 1st for the Weaver Elite Spec! I am so hyped for PoF!!!! ;)
shut up and take my money!
does anet hate thieves or something? they barely talked about them in this video and they seem underpowered in raids.
condi daredevil is among the top end dps in the current raid meta.
Talked about them more than ranger! I don't know how I feel about the thief elite spec. It most def provides a new playstyle, which is the goal of elite specs I guess.
Balthazar demands you take the 24 hour timer off the crafting of certain materials.
Will these require 1000 hero points so I'll never unlock them?
I still feel that spell breaker is kinda bland
An elite spec based on the remnants of an order that died out because they were surpassed. It can have rich lore, but you can't expect much flair from something that's had its nostalgia goggles surgically implanted. Sunspears disbanded because they were no longer relevant = spell breakers aren't relevant.
the didnt even mention soulbeast, ranger the bastard son of GW2. RIP soulbeast, wrose specialization in PoF
What's great about Guild Wars is that there are already 9 different professions that already play very differently from each other.
-- No.
I can't wait! The Renegate is so awesome.
"It feels like it's significantly changing de profession that they're playing" thief still one target
(Mesmer main here)While elite specialisations are awesome and add unique flavors to the professions, Be sure to make them optional. Vanilla professions should always remain a competitive option. (Clarification. This next bit regards builds for all professions in general and what is seen as meta) Also, Anet. DPS is nice but you need to take a step back and make changes that benefit people who prefer to tank or support. Raids for instance are a full DPS meta requirement, and I'm not saying that because my team failed, it's because being a tank that relies on condition DPS isn't going to get any love from people who just want to get to the end as quickly as possible. There is a common belief that Anet favors raw DPS metas while tanking and outlasting is becoming less of on option rebalance after rebalance.
You DO know both Ranger and Elementalist became almost exclusively supports in HoT, right?
AzureRoxe I know, but I'm saying that support and tanking isn't as much of desired option for raids and competitive things than raw DPS. This goes for all classes
Karl Malone I disagree, and the popularity of high raw damage builds is what I would like to bring to the argument. There are gearsets that are vastly neglected and skill trees that are underused because they just cannot synergize with any build that delivers the quickest and easiest victory. Which should not be the goal at all. Quick isn't fun. Downing someone near instantly because you delt out high four figure damage points constantly isn't fun. The best matches are those that last longest. Two of my guild mates had an HOUR long duel in the guild hall arena once before anyone was downed. That's because both had builds that were meant to outlast rather than overpower, the looser was the one who slipped up first. And I believe that is what should be true no matter what build you use.
Karl Malone You seem to be taking this personally. Don't. But my argument is that the raw DPS meta isn't preventing anything, I'm saying it's preferred over other build options because it produces more.
Not necessarily. The way they presented and built elite specializations (heck, even the name "Elite" kinda shows it) was so they would compete with the *other* *elite* specs, not necessarily with the baseline class. Anyone who is leveling, whether they bought the game or not, will have the five "basic" trait lines available to them. Once they reach maximum level, they can get their >elite< specs, special, powerful lines that you can only use one of, while you can use any of the baseline ones.
Next year I want 2 pets specialization for Ranger.
