    I love my 22. I had a guy on a Harley roll up beside me at a stoplight and as per usual I smiled and waved hello. He gave me a nasty look and just started revving his noise machine. “Okay” I said we’ll just click this over into Sport mode. Light turned green and my front tire came off the ground, his bike was making a ton of noise but barely moving and about 3 seconds later he was already at least 20 car lengths behind me and another 3 seconds and he was just an ugly dot in my rear view mirror. I wave to ALL riders, not all Harley riders snub me but it is ONLY Harley riders that won’t wave back. Every other type always waves back.

    The 2018+ GW is factory limited to 112mph. It will do 112 going up a really steep hill no problem but not one mile faster and that's like half throttle. Supposedly someone came up with a crack for the ECU that got rid of the limiter but they only sell to racers. Like some folks have noted here, better make sure your tires are in good shape before you do any land speed records on one of these cows. I saw a rear tire at the shop last week that detonated at speed. Dude was lucky to walk away with his life. Tire's aren't cheap but they are a great deal compared to a funeral.

      So it has exactly the same top speed as my Honda Ridgeline. Same way electronically limited of course.

    • @jamesbottger5894
      @jamesbottger5894 Před rokem

      I've heard if the speed limiter in the ECU is overridden and the bike is taken in for service and the bike is still under warranty the dealer could void the warranty. Running motorcycle tires (at least on the rear) would not be safe at speeds in the triple digits. A Z speed rated car tire (especially a run flat) would be much safer. GWs are so hard on rear tires, and not all that much easier on the fronts...that's why I roll double darkside...

    • @GrandpaWazi
      @GrandpaWazi Před rokem

      You can get around the speed limiter by using a SpeedoHealer and limit the gauge so it cant read any higher than any number below 112. Your bike will stop reading at your set point but continue to pull. Use your phone GPS to show true speed at that point.

    • @Mike-uh2gw
      @Mike-uh2gw Před rokem +1

      @@GrandpaWazi The problem is it's not plug and play. You have to splice it in and no way I'm going to cut my wiring harness up on a bike I will be selling. If it was a connector, I would have already bought one.

I'm not one to contend for my position with automobiles so I just backed off a little. After the traffic had settled down, I rolled on some throttle to catch up with my brother. As I slowed down to match his speed I glanced down at the speedometer and noticed the needle dropping through 100. Very impressive power and speed, and that's a 2012 bike. Had my '21 6-speed up to roughly 111mph the other day on two quick pulls (with the windshield in both positions). It was super windy with an awful side wind out on the desolate valley road I tested it at.. So I really wouldn't have wanted to go much faster than that anyway given the conditions. Once I get new tires put on the bike and have a calm day, I'll probably give it another shot to see if I can achieve anything quicker, to see where the speed limiter really lives. Either way, that's plenty fast and largely unnecessary. I'm plenty happy cruising at 80mph comfortably here on the open roads of Utah. I definitely didn't buy this bike with the intention of it being a crotch rocket, but I still think it'd be nice for it to achieve 120-130mph or so, but I guess that's a pipedream from what I've heard about the limited speed on these bikes. Even many passenger cars today are capable of at least that... Oh well, no big deal. It's unlikely my bike will see anything over 100mph more than a few more times while I own it anyway. I'm extremely happy with it just the way it is.

      @@jdbmoto Yeah, huh? It seems a natural transition... I have found quite a lot of Wing drivers also have FJRs as their other go-to bike, and like myself, they stepped up to the wing but couldn't part with the Feej... and then the comfort issue begins to be noticeable and they sell the "smaller" bike. My next bike in the stable will probably be another V-strom 650. Great bike for my riding position and plenty of power for my slower but cargo-carrying adventures. Once took mine from Salt Lake City to San Diego for a scuba weekend, and I was loaded like the Beverly Hillbillies. Ten and a half straight hours and I was there. would have been nicer on the Wing!

    I own a 2021 goldwing touring DCT. I've seen roughly 110-115mph on this bike in sport mode. It's quick, but not super fast. if you want the bike to go fast you have to stay out of 7th gear. Otherwise the bike becomes gutless. Touring mode is plenty fast for me, and I don't find myself using sport mode too often. The other bike I ride is a 2009 vmax, and comparing the two bikes would be pointless. Honestly the goldwing handles like a dream around 75-95mph! Normally I think diesel for motorcycle would be novelty, but in this case getting something that made 80 mpg and doubling that range would be pretty good, because even my 250cc at WOT doing about 75 mph with a 3 gallon fuel tank easily beats your range at around 280 miles (you should be empty at 225.5 assuming every last drop is spent), which is bad when a street legal dirt bike with knobby tires is cruising further than a really good touring/sight seeing bike.
