    Plastic grass should be outlawed, not encouraged. Not only does it enhance the heat island effect, but it is yet more plastic that ends up as microplastic in the food chain, and in our guts and our blood stream.

      Hi Peter,
      Thank you very much for your contribution to a vital conversation that we as a society must have, and actively encourage on an ongoing basis. The widespread outlawing of things that some non-qualified citizens think that harm our bodies and the environment is a slippery slope don't you think? Should cars that emit harmful gases be outlawed? Should non-filtered water be outlawed? Should we outlaw road markings for fear that its degradation will end up in our waterways? It's a slippery slope and with everything in life; there are trade-offs. Tuff Turf are contributing in reducing environmental impacts where we can; by making sure as much of the turf and related products remain out of landfill. We as a company are set to become the only Turf recycler in Australia with our new Turf recycling facility in regional Victoria. Recovered materials, including plastic, sand and rubber, will be reused in the installation of synthetic turf, and surplus materials will be sold back to the market.
      Thank you again for engaging in this important conversation Peter, I wish you well.

      Hi MrAshanz, thanks for the kind words :) To infill your turf surface you can use any fine, dried sand - we use a Kiln Dried sand to ensure it easily reaches the base of the fibres.

    Crushed rock to 60mm depth followed by crusher dust 5mm to 20 mm depth for the sub base.
    Any recommendation for size of crushed rock? I want to get this right.
    Do you recommend a weed mat underneath the sub base? Thanks

    • @TuffTurfAU
      @TuffTurfAU  Před 4 lety

      Hi Wayne, a 20mm particle size is sufficient for the Crushed Rock. This forms the bulk of the base so you're right in wanting to get it right. We don't install any membranes or matting when we build a base. If your property is at the base of a hill and is prone to abnormal amounts of water sitting in the area, adding a weedmat between the substrate and the crushed rock and/or between the Crusher dust and the turf, you can. For most typical installations it will only add unnecessary cost.

    What size grade in fill sand would you recommend?

    Needs to be far more detailed or refer to your product sheets that have info like minimum temperature for the tape

    • @TuffTurfAU
      @TuffTurfAU  Před 10 měsíci

      Thank you for your feedback! I agree that this should be routinely updated. The tape shown in the video has been superseded, and temperature is no longer a concern, as it is not bitumen-based.
