I was the happiest I've ever been when these songs came out, when I was doing my PhD. The Ting Tings are really my band.
Very interesting, Richard! I remember in college, one of my gen ed courses was an English class. The professor LOVED Supertramp. He would mention them almost every class, and I think he even worked it into a course and had us listen to them LOL. This was in 2007 or so, but I thoroughly enjoyed music of the 70s so I actually had a few of their albums myself. Many of the students learned about them in that class, it was cool to see.
I don't know if I have a "band" per se... I've liked many artists over the years. When I was in my teens I loved Moby, Porcelain really spoke to me. Now in my 30s I actually really love Steeley Dan. I am inclined to say if I had a band it'd be them, but who knows how I will change and what will really resonate with me in a decade!

aah 2009, where everything was easy and we had just 4 different bathrooms
I remember seeing this song for the first time by accident at about 5:45am on Rage (The absolute best time to discover new music on TV in Australia). I was 16, in Year 11, and just about to leave the house for my Sunday morning open shift at my local Woolworths, it would have been about August/September 2008, because I remember it was still freezing as fuck outside (I was living in Canberra at the time so yeah). Normally I'd show up to work in a zombie like state because why wouldn't you in those circumstances, but this particular morning, I had gotten this song stuck in my head and it made that shift go so much more pleasantly than normal.
For some reason I even remember trying to memorise the dance for a while?
My son really wanted this cd, so I bought it for him. He had me listen to THIS song exactly. I 😍The Ting Tings right then & there. 🪝on the whole cd myself. Yeah, they should be out here for us again. 1st video I watched this morning while having my coffee, & was dancing in my seat before I got through the ☕. BETTER than caffeine!!!

I didn't realize until this moment that the Ting Tings were behind so many catchy songs I've heard.
I remember listening to this when I was 8 and it had just come out. I sat on my dad's lap as he showed me the music he liked and this song has been played throughout my life. Now, after turning 18 and heading off to uni, my dad made me a CD with all of these old songs on and I honest to god started crying. This song is the ultimate nostalgia for me

First heard this a week before i started 8th grade. Like August 2008. They played for the first time on 106.7 or 98.7 Los Angeles rock stations. I had just finished getting my classes for the school year was leaving with my mom and i turned the radio on and this song was about to start playing. "New song by the Ting Tings." Damn. I remember this exact moment. And everytime i listen to this song, it reminds me of that moment in time. Right before my 8th grade year. Seems like such a long time ago.
Cool story. I also loved them at first beat. Not exactly remember when but i remember it was the 2nd single: 'That's Not My Name' ... i sent an email to all national radios asking to broadcast them! This album is so absolute perfection that i bought it on highschool with some savings i had xD
