    Thanks for the idea! Made it for 22 bucks including 8 bucks for screws. Cheap and durable. 👍

    Nice. Ive been interested in making a way to place the bike in the bed of my truck. I thrower over the tailgate and use towls and bungee cords. This easy set up would eliminate all that.
    Thank you!

    I made the vehicle ramps out of 2x12 stringers and they easily lift my 2500 ram and Jeep....much better than anything you can buy. I guess I'll consider this too ;)

    What if you put front tire slotted board on top of the tool box, made it about 8 inches deep. Put eye bolts on the sides for bungie cords.
    Putting the front tire in the slot means you can close the tail gate. Deeper slots keeps the bikes from falling over. Making a U shaped from that wraps around the tool box will keep everything in place.

      That could work but I was trying to keep the toolbox still accessible. I probably should have mentioned that in the video.

    Nice, You could extend your wheel rails to exceed the tailgate and put a 2x4 across from the underneath which could also act as a support. I'm in the process of building something for my Scott Plasma 6 Triathlon bike for my Honda Ridgeline cheers

    Make it short enough to be able to close tailgate when there are no bikes in truck.

    Another good option is to get a bike tailgate pad so it doesn't scratch the tailgate.

      Maybe but the ones I've seen are kind of expensive.

    I'm going to make this and mine is going to be a project with changes as well. Reason is I want to try to come up with a way to slide it out and have it tip down (thought it would make loading heavy e-bikes a bit easier). Then load my ebike and tip up and slide in. But then again, I may not. And actually if I make it like you did I don't really need to do a tip down version. Giving thanks this Thanksgiving week for your video. 😀

    Great build! But, have you considered doing this with PVC pipe instead? The issue I see with using wood is A) heavy, so moving it in and out of the bed would be cumbersome, and B) storage. Unless you use PT lumber (even heavier), you'll have to find a dry place to store the thing so it doesn't rot. With PVC, you can just toss it anywhere, and literally toss it because it won't weigh near as much!

    • @SpecificLove7
      @SpecificLove7  Před rokem

      PVC could work but it can become brittle after long exposure to the sun

    Hi; I'm 5'-2" and haul a heavy 65lb ebike. Hard for me to lift. Would your design be strong enough to attach an 8-10lb hand winch on the top 2x4 (where you sat) and load with a ramp? My Ram has a 6' bed, and the tailgate closes behind my bike.

  • @487joe

      On some bikes the front wheel does come on easily, but on others, it's more of a hassle.
