  • Dostoevsky sees it all coming. The culmination of his political teaching on liberals is that they are incapable of seeing and stopping the violence of the revolutionary Left. This is seen above all in the burning down of the one-horse town in Part 3 of Demons. We delve into the acts and try to make a final statement about the excuses liberals use to dismiss revolutionary leftism in this video.

Thank you for these vids. Great summary. Very helpful. The irony is that revolutions, as history has shown, are sometimes necessary against oppressive, tyrannical, encroached or stifling regimes. I can sense Dostoevsky objectivity in this matter in Demons. He’s not trying to warn us against revolutions. Instead it just illustrates that revolutions are lead by humans anyway, flawed, egocentrics, and haunted by own our demons, like everyone else, no matter how noble the original intentions may be.

Fedka didn't die during the fires. He was responsible for the lebyadkins death. He stood up to Pyotor Stepanovich in fillipovs house a day later. Soon after this it's rumored (and likely) that Fedka's death was on Pyotor Stepanovich's hands due to his obstinacy.
Great vids, I've been loving watching them as I read Demons. Fantastic analysis and synopsis.
