- Hey everyone Rho here! Today we're discussing the aura of Vulkan He'stan. And the man within the Forgefather title...
Spoiler Warning to begin as today we will be referencing events from the Warhammer 40,000 novel "Firedrake" by author Nick Kyme. As always I really recommend you read the stories for yourself first Without Spoilers! Because that's the best way to enjoy the lore for yourself!

Being an IF/Black Templars fanboy, I have to admit I would love to see more Salamanders lore. Vulkan in particular would be great as a returning Primarch. Think of the contrast: you have the Imperium as it is now, little care or regard for the citizen. Then you have the compassion of Vulkan and his Salamanders.
Vulkan acting in Guilliman's current position running the perim would be so good to read. He has the capacity to rally the entire Imperium around him and forge ahead!

Apparently he's named after the footballer Stan Collymore. One of the GW studio managers at the time was a massive fan and demanded a Stan Collymore tribute in the GW lore from the studio writers lol.
Not sure if this is true but it's a story I heard while working for GW in the early 2000's and I always thought it was pretty funny :)
Not a fan of N. Kyme, but He'Stan's entrance to fighting DarkEldar is pretty awesome. Just chucks himself off the ship turning himself and his spear into a Drukhari seeking missile.

@@domc9801 it's in Firedrake, after some Dark Eldar kidnap Chaplain Elysius and a few other Salamanders. Vulkan He'Stan gets their location from a Haemonculi by threatening to lock him in a metal box deprived of all senses and forgetting about him. He'Stan and some Firedrakes then hijack a Drukhari ship to rescue a relic the Chaplain was wearing, rescuing the Chaplain is a bonus.
The book also Introduces Zartath, the slightly crazy and berserk but loyal Black Dragon that becomes a Salamander and is basically Warhammer 40k Wolverine

Saw it’s not on audible. Shame I’ll get the book at a later date.
Yeah, Kyme writes lots of Salamanders characters that show like zero salamander characteristics, the whole time you are reading it you are thinking ‘how the hell dod these people ever get past the trials to become a space marine?’

Would love to see Malkaan Feirros (Forgefather of the Iron Hands) meet with Vulkan He'Stan. Two icons of their chapters.
Considering how the two chapters are practically polar opposites in their legion culture and personality, I think the two would not be able to stand each other.
@@patrickmcginty3234 You would be surprised. I wished I had saved the reddit post but it showed two different dialogues between Salamanders and Iron Hands. The Salamanders got the Iron Hands to laugh.

I was an engineer in an elite of the elite specialisation in the military ... I feel apart from everyone else ..and that makes it difficult for me to relate to others ..it's lonely ..but just one cost of service
He'Stan sounds like the cutest Space Marine name.
