Women Carry Water | Amikaeyla Gaston, World Trust | Edge Prize 2023 Submission

World Trust is excited to announce that we are beginning work on a new media project! “Women Carry Water” is an immersive docuseries that lifts the voices, experiences, and work of female-identifying people championing vital, healing, sustainable, spiritual practices as Water-Bearers. The series features interviews from Indigenous healers, folk artists, carbon sequestration scientists, a musician who sings with whales, and stories of women like Thandekile, who carry water to her home and family in Sub-Saharan Africa. We are concurrently building an app that highlights multi-faceted opportunities for each person who interacts with them to “walk a mile in her shoes” and visualize the different paths these Water-Bearers walk. This video (created as a part of a submission to “The Edge Prize” 2023 cohort) features World Trust Co-Executive Director, Amikaeyla Gaston, talking about her relationship to water and our new film project.
The Edge Prize is a bioregional community, accelerator, and prize challenge focused on Salmon Nation, a bioregion defined by the historic range of wild Pacific salmon, from the Salinas River in California, north to the Yukon River in Alaska.
