  • A light rain was falling, but that didn't stop me from getting out that day back in 1991. And there was plenty to be seen at Bostic, NC that day, as the yard was clogged with traffic. The video starts out with a local crew taking a loaded coal train out of the yard to clear up the Back Lead, with an all SD50 consist. A hi-rail comes in off the Charlotte Sub and stops at the new yard office, I was standing beside the old yard office shooting this which was in the process of being demolished. Then, 3 Seaboard System SD50's bring a loaded coal train down the Back Lead, that had just been made clear by the yard crew. And the hi rail begins to back towards the road crossing outside the yard to get off the track. A short time later the local crew returns to with the power off the 1st coal train and a local freight that had been tied down in a siding outside the yard, where they left the loaded coal hoppers they took off the Back Lead. Then an empty coal train arrives from Spartanburg, SC on the Blue Ridge Sub with some SD40-2's and a C30-7 leading the way. Another loaded coal train can be seen in the distance with a Chessie System SD50 leading that was tied down on the main line. And finally another empty hopper train arrives with 3 Seaboard System SD50's for power coming off the Charlotte Subdivision. Bostic Yard was really a pretty cool place to visit back in those days.
