0:03 at the start of Southern, we see the NdeM E60 EA001 sound.

0:10 reminds me of FCCM 9418 horn

That NW 8521 sound horn reminds me of NdeM EA012 in 1985.

My father was a Southern Railway trainman. He said Southern ran the high hoods so they could draw a head from either end of the locomotive.

That’s back in the days before physics changed and 4 axle units were strong enough to pull mainline freight.

Back in those days and even as far back to the Southern in the 70’s it was a rare treat to see foreign power. Especially Conrail. I remember, as a kid, getting so excited seeing those blue engines.

I loved watching those Southern lash ups of 5-7 4 axle high-nose Geeps when I was a kid in the 70s. Back then, never thought it would end. Never thought cabooses would be anything of special interest either.

Growing up in the South, I never imagined it possible that high hoods would disappear. No variety any more.

This was back when it was the Norfolk *AND* Southern, not Norfolk Southern.

The sound P5 reminds me of NdeM E60 sound in 1983.....
