Will this PS5 hdmi repair make me finally lose my sanity !?

  • This PS5 was dropped in by a customer that said they had opened up the console to replace the hdmi port and then thought better of it.
This info didn’t exactly bring me much optimism, as usually people break stuff when taking things apart. I was hoping they hadn’t tried to remove the port themselves, as I’ve seen some serious destruction when this happens.
Luckily after lots of swearing and countless hurdles to jump we got there in the end !.

It makes it way more expensive to fix when people have been meddling first, at least this wasn’t too bad 🤦🏻‍♂️

Well spotted !, I got like an E in English, so it’s not great. Ironically I can speak several other languages 🤣🤷

Why are so many people killing the HDMI ports on every kind of console? What are they doing? A little respect to your hardware and everything should go well 🙂

From all the scratches around the hdmi port I would say that the console is getting plugged and unplugged a lot. Probably taking it from house to house constantly I imagine. I see quite a lot like this with lots of scratches around the port.

It’s just flux from soldering, obviously it’s all removed once the port is soldered into place.

If you look at 4:51 all the flux is removed then. You can’t solder without flux though, so it’s a must.
