    There are videos on youtube which show how you can sharpen your drill bits on your bench grinder. Something like sharpening a pencil. There is a sharpening tool available, but it doesn't work so well, because the drill bits are different sizes and they sharpen at different angles, which isn't ideal. I would put a 'wheelie bar' on the front of the cart so that it can't tip over forwards. Of course it has to be shorter than the front two, otherwise you won't be able to push it.

    The handle bar is on the wrong side. Remove the handle bar and weld it at the back of the wheels side. That way you can push the trolley much easier

      That way i would pull it not push it. It also works

    I think I would have switched the handle and feet around so that you could move the cart around by tipping it backward toward you like a two wheel hand truck for moving boxes. Another upgrade might be a cup holder! Nice video!

    You said it, T.i.G. welding is for thinner metals & also for strong welds for roll cages and other racing related welding. Or hotrod or custom vehicle builds where the weld beed is meant to be seen. It is easy to pass a M.IG. welding as looking good, when it may not be. So, in racing or fabrication, a T.I.G. weld is easier to know you get good peniteation and & a strong quality weld, without xraying. T.I.G. is also a lot harder to do right. More art & skill envolved vs. M.I.G. where a good travel speed & the right settings, most people could do it. T.I.G. is also very frustrating because the tungsten welding tip has to always be clean. But even the best T.I.G. welders touch & contaminate the tungsten accidentally, no matter how good they are. Then, each time, that tip has to be reground or replaced with backup ones. Back & forth it goes. Anyway, for what we see you doing with heavy vehicles, thick metal, and mostly outdoor all weather welding, T.i.G. would not be practical at all. Stick welding, clean rust & dirt removed welding areas is. So M.I.G. can be too, but for the weld to be hot enough & penitrate completely, the travel speed must be consistent. Use tack welds only for tacking! Be careful NOT to stitch weld with M.I.G. it will not be hot enough for thick metal, especially in cold weather. Those showing that on CZcams know nothing about metallurgy & how hot welding some metal has to be. Some people do that & then just grind off the surface of their stitch welds (or bad welds) to make it look nice. That doesn't make the weld itself penetrate both metal parts & fuse them, making a strong weld. That is why no good welders do stitch welds or continuous tack welds. Except on thin automotive sheet metal, where way less heat is needed to fuse them & too much heat will warp the panels. With practice, you will come to love M.I.G.

    Flux and CO polarities are different. Also flux has nozzle that has holes in it or no nozzle at all. If you want tig buy an ac/dc welder so you can di some light aluminium work. I am not an salesman but buy spartus machine w.o. the "handle". Buy kemppi handle and convert that to the spartus. In Estonia that spartus is too expensive and i found out that it is cheapest by alot to order from Poland.

    Love your content!! In the crappy state of affairs that this world is in today , it is very refreshing to have your kind of HUMOR !!! Even working without plans , you came up with an ingenious design and created a much better solution ,, from what some folks would have considered garbage. Here in America, back during the 2nd world war , military engineers were told to make sure that when you design something, it should be able to do at least 7 more things if possible.
    You recycled and turned a somewhat useless three wheeled cart into an excellent caddy. You incorporated areas for additional equipment , thus improving it's usefulness. Gave adequate space for 2 tanks of compressed gases. Built in theft deterence. And finally gave it a great finish coat of paint. 4 out of 5 ain't bad bro !! Unless you want to say that paint is solution, so then 5 out of 5 !!
    Matching colors is good design . Scott in Farmers Branch. Just out of curiosity, what is the best insulator In your neck of the woods ?? Building underground maybe?

    Push the torch with normal wire MIG and TIG, drag when you are laying slag, ie stick (MMA) and flux core MIG.👍 Also, if you have a scrap grinder, you can take out the mandrel and turn it down on a lathe until you can chuck it in your drill or even a die grinder. Then you can use the worn out cutting discs until they are even more worn out. But it is a bit flaky as the mandrels probably aren't meant to be turned down that thin.... But I haven't died yet so probably ok.

I went to school for welding and fabrication and I learned all 3 , and when I ran my first MIG pass ever, I was in love. That was 20 years ago and today I still use my MIG (with shielding gas) for all my projects. From very thick steel , to very thin steel. Thanks for sharing.

At work, they use 7 & 9 inch grinders and real Metabo blades. They leave them all over when they are worn down, I asked my supervisor if I picked them up if I could take them home and he said yes. 👍🏼They work great on 4 1/2” grinders.

  • @mikehunt3222
    @mikehunt3222 Před rokem +9

    That seems to be a pretty good machine. You might want to reconfigure the cart because you’re going to need easy access to open the door on the side of the mig so you can change the wire. I use 75% argon, 25% carbon dioxide to weld regular steel and you can also use stargon gas but that’s mostly for stainless. You will also want to get some anti spatter spray or gel to put on your mig tip so spatter doesn’t stick to it as much.

    • @deankdx
      @deankdx Před rokem +1

      yes, the gel you dip the torch tip into made a massive difference to a friends mig, it was getting spatter build up in the tip pretty bad until that was used.

    Neat welder, I got one pretty much identical from a different brand. They are all Chinese anyways and they actually work really well for how little they cost. (toss the manual away as it's usually not correct.) The big brand machines like Miller for example have a longer duty cycle and "better" components. For home use and hobby welding there is no need for that

    *"TIG"* (Tungsten Inert Gas) is best for stainless steel, cast aluminum,
    and even (preheated) cast iron. Acceptable Inert shielding gasses are Argon and Helium.
    Helium is the far superior choice, but also higher priced. It's best for headers and fancy stuff.
    TIG requires an extremely clean surface, and use only *dedicated stainless steel brushes*
    with acetone to clean all surfaces prior to TIG welding.

I screw it down in a few places inside the cover! Making legs to the base shelf about 6 inches wider on all sides for stability and casters on the bottom! Ants, you will learn something new every single day. Tig is simple, it works exactly like the oxy-acetilene except you have electric spark instead of gas flame. The rest is the same. Grind the tungsten to a nice point, grind only lengthwise, get some argon or technical argon 4.6 (a bit cheaper) and you will be working in no time. Mig is the fastest with least penetration, flux core is made to save your day while welding something heavier outside while windy or to spare some gas money.. It's more or less similar to stick welding, except it's continuous and produces slag though.... The better option is low carbon wire with gas, where you can do also thin stuff. Sticks are ok, in your case you used the 7018, which is excelent, but it starts harder if you stop in between, because of the hard coating. Pinch the tip coating crater of to expose the wire and it will restart easily, but it needs a constant flow to run.
    Good thing though, it's a thrill to test some new thingies around.. 😏Just remember to avoid working in some flammable environment. Fire can really ruin your day... Keep on, cheers and I wish you a lot of successful project builds.

    I have two MIG welders (Hobart and Lincoln) a stick welder (Lincoln) and two TIG welders ( A A/C Yeswelder for aluminum and a D/C Lincoln for stainless etc) TIG welding is a whole other world. For me anyway. For MIG shielding gas is the only way to go, flux core sucks seems I get less penetration and lots of splatter. Now you need a plasma cutter, I have one and love it.

    Main thing is the metal has to be cleaned of mill scale and that’s by grinding it with a grinding wheel! Just buffing it won’t take mill scale off but that’s if you’re welding something for strength and to hold 100%!

    You might be tempted to fix a box on the top of the trolley for the mask, welding clamps, a hammer or two, steel brushes, a grinder and discs etc. You might not use it outside but something to keep dust and everything else off the top could help keep the equipment clean. If you could bolt a box to the central cross-member it could be easy enough to remove for maintenance.

    Welding with fluxcore and gas is called dual shield welding. You can do some amazing welding with that setup. I'm sure you're familiar with "welding tips and tricks", Jody Collier's channel. Another Vevor tool you might want to consider is the 14" cold cut chop saw. It's the closest thing to a religious experience for the price. The blades last a long time, but I recommend ordering a backup blade at the same time.

    I am adding a link to a young but great teacher of this trade. I think of him as a guru for teaching. Sure, he is still learning, its just what we all do, the more we teach others then the more we also learn as well. Mr. Ants in the britches or as I refer to you, a "Dang good friend" in another country for which I would so enjoy meeting in person! I do not shoot the s**t when something is as important as mentioning a friend. Your a person who can draw laughs at ones self meaning you do not try to take life so serious as so you can not enjoy this only life we are given. Maybe this will make you understand just how serious I too can be.... I would much rather have one good friend than a dozen acquaintances!!! A person who qualifies as a friend would jump into danger without a second thought to help you if you are in some bad troubles. An acquaintance would stop, think of a good many reasons to not place themselves into trouble and just say "Sorry buddy" I don't wish to get hurt today or any other day for that matter. Truthfully we are not that close yet because of distances we just can't change. It is afterall, a large swimming hole between us called the Pacific Ocean. Since I haven't been to your lovely country yet, I really can not say but that there may just be a few more puddles in between our separated lands. I am a person whom thinks of what is around me and why its there or who made it all possible to make these surroundings possible as well. Your not a lazy person... more a person who weighs out some good reasons to do or place as better done tomorrow. I guess I had best stop with the praise before your head bursts from too much hot air hu???/LOL. Any time that you or yours as in wife or children are near, feel free to stop for meals or lodging. I may not have a lot but we can always make it work.
