Every decade there are a handful of songs which are successful because they are so different from everything else around at the time. This is one such song.
Playing this through a pair of speakers with 15 inch bass, and horn-loaded mid and treble drivers. 102 decibels output for 1 Watt of power. In my living room 🎉
Though, just to be safe it's important not to allow just anybody to have access to a banjo. There need to be licences and mental and criminal history checks...
I honestly havent heard this tune since 1994. Listening to 2fm in my bedroom at night as a 12 year old. This tune has stayed with me and has often popped into my head over the years but I did not have a clue who played it or what it was even called so could never find it again. Low and behold by chance today I turned on 2fm while driving and this tune was playing. I had to pull over the car and scramble to turn on Shazam. I finally had it after 29 years waiting 😂 this brings back some fond memories.
Very much the same situation as yourself. I randomly heard it on the radio on the way from work a couple of weeks ago, the tune was familiar and I had to Shazam it. I was 11 in 1994. I hope you have a fantastic remainder of 2024!
I used to live in Abu Dhabi at time. Saw this video for the first time in MTV and was completely blown out....such a rhythm, such a beat.....too good and too ahead of its time.....still listening to it in 2024....30 years on and it rules...
I love the 90's computer animations. Reminiscent of The Prodigy's "One Love" (RIP Keith) video and really any animation from the movie Hackers (which is great for a 90s dance/techno soundtrack).
This is one of those 'takes me back' tracks. I can totally see it's hardly music mastership but it connects me to great memories of my adolescence, so for me I love it, regardless of its quality. I think that's a lovely thing that music can do.
As a huge 90’s music fan, I can’t believe I’d never heard this song before. Swamp Thing by Pegboard Nerds (which is basically just a remix of this song) is one of my favorite songs, but I had no idea this song existed until I heard it on Letterkenny.
The toddler featured in this video will be at least twenty seven now. Anyone else feeling old? Totally brilliant track by the way. It hasn't aged at all.
I was up in the Forest of Dean 2 weeks ago on a Sunday morning and heard a rave still going. So I walked towards it and eventually found it, it finished at about 12.30pm with an extended version of this track. Fucking hilarious to see all the families walking around with this music blasting out for miles around 😃
Damn I remember this song! I've been looking for this for so long and I didn't bother to check dance hits of '94. I remember dancing to this in the clubs. What memories...
P.s. God bless England & from Australia huge big country so much to do in life dudes? Farmers & Farming etc. Go the Farmers & Farming cool dudes!? All over the world too cool?
94 first year of high school this was the biggest song at the blue light disco and I smoked my first joint outside then this song played and I was gone lol got my first kiss and got to 3rd base with the local bike had to wait until the next day to finally get to home plate lol
I don't give a single shit what anybody says. this is seriously brilliant.. original..and extremely ballsy at the time.
+Benjamin Upton At the time.
+Benjamin Upton It is brilliant. Forever my fave song in the clubbin' days.
My clubbin' days too.
This was awesome. This was all over the clubs back in the day.
Benjamin Upton Ooooh yes brings back some great memories , brilliant.
1994 feels like yesterday when I listen to this track...
best comment ever!
Here also😁
1994 is the future. Its 1983 at the moment, so its 11 years in the future. 1983 is my favourite year for pop music, incidentally.
Yet this song still as the kids say these day, slaps.... do they even say lit anymore?
En realidad es de 1998
Thank you Beatstar for introducing me to this wonderful song
here from BS too
I will buy the tour pass today

Yeah thank you, BeatStar🎉
@MONKE1224 Me too
Banjo and techno..... Just YES
TRUE THAT
Totally
10 years ago today the very talented banjo player in this took his own life. RIP Roger Dinsdale Epic Banjo player! He totally made this choon!
sad but true.
That's so sad. What an incredible talent he was ❤
Very sad. At least his music lives on. I was 14 when this came out in 1994. Still listening at 41!!
I heard the banjo player was screwed over the money he deserved by the rest o
Still cool in 2024....
30 yrays on....stil good

Also Doop
Just listen Sandstorm by Darude in 2000
I always wanted a set of those speakers

Do you play them with single ended valve amp?
This proves that, like every other dangerous tool invented by humankind, the banjo can also be used for good, as well as evil.
Though, just to be safe it's important not to allow just anybody to have access to a banjo. There need to be licences and mental and criminal history checks...
***** Perhaps, but it's not in bagpipe territory.
BHALT0S I can laugh at that because I'm not French.
Ian Weeks like summoning a demon
Je Suis Ce Que Je Suis banjos for all.

The guy who did the banjo part was apparently screwed out of royalites and ended up hanging himself.

Oh my word I'm so happy for you! This was my favorite clubbing song in 94
Love Shazam!
Very much the same situation as yourself. I randomly heard it on the radio on the way from work a couple of weeks ago, the tune was familiar and I had to Shazam it. I was 11 in 1994. I hope you have a fantastic remainder of 2024!
This track came out in 1994 and absolutely dominated instrumental charts for weeks to come. Good times.
It dominated the normal chart in the UK for many weeks.
I remember playing this in Sydney Australia back in 1994 as well 👍🇦🇺🎵
I used to live in Abu Dhabi at time. Saw this video for the first time in MTV and was completely blown out....such a rhythm, such a beat.....too good and too ahead of its time.....still listening to it in 2024....30 years on and it rules...
That guy was the Slash of the banjo genre!
Love it 😂😂😂😂 yes mate 👍
I am 41 today , still using it to do my workout - this track dominated the dance stages way back in golden 90s’
Good work sir !
I miss those days
Another 90’s gold
1901 notes combined in Beatstar's standard and deluxe editions, this is insane!
RIP to the amazing banjo player, who took his own life. 😢
Even sadder is the reason why...
@@lshep9728I can't believe they did that to him, poor man.
How the f*** did I miss this this song for the past 20 years? I remember it rocking during my student years in my 90's. Damn it's good!
In 2021 I am still Listening this track. It’s absolutely amazing music.
2022 here - jee they were some crappy CGI graphics back then!
Isn't it!!!!!!
Genius
New Year’s Eve 2022-still love it
2023 now.
This was a very cool line dance back in the early 90’s. Man good times! I was 30 now I’m 54 😭
Same here ❤️
15 then 41 now
We still line dance to it at my local country club!
@@shelbysullinger7976 really?? Love this song
Love the tune and the album but also makes me sad as I miss those days so much more fun and carefree.
Awesome 90s nostalgia trip, this sounds as good in 2021 as it did in the day .💖
I am 44.I was 14 when this came out.
For no obvious reason today this popped out in my head.
Again... Out of nowhere.
June 10th 2024
90s music .....the best....
Brilliant music, good old days, childhood memories of 90's golden Era.❤️❤️❤️❤️
I had no idea that there was a music video for this song.
And it's flawless.
Thx god I got to experience the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s music, Gotta say this is still bad ass for 2022 compared to the shit today.
Welcome to Beatstar!
Simple dance track.Beautifully produced and executed. And some brilliant banjo playing.
June 2020, I've just mopped my flat whilst listening to this on CD 👍.
Clean flat, mop dancing 🤣
The Country Bar I used to frequent always played this song. Those were the good old days. It sucks that Bar no longer exists.
July 2021, where’s me mop 🎶🤘🎶
I feel like a 12 year old boy again, so excited from listening to such a great track.
This. 😊
I was 11 when this came out. For some reason it popped into my head today after having not heard it in years but I'm glad that it did!
I was 11 too! I got this album on cassette and would spend hours sat on the floor, listening to it on my cheap Walkman.
I remember this tune maddd Nostalgia
It randomly popped into my noggin today too haha
me too - I was 14
Same here 😀
A primary school I parked near today blasted this out instead of using an alarm to let the kids know the days over.
Pure class.
Some banjo player God bless you for the good times May they be a bed in heaven for you ❤❤❤
I love the 90's computer animations. Reminiscent of The Prodigy's "One Love" (RIP Keith) video and really any animation from the movie Hackers (which is great for a 90s dance/techno soundtrack).
takes me back....they were the days of the retro tunes lol
Beatstar
thing is with tracks like these, NOBODY CAN EVER DO THE SAME AGAIN. Not even come close. This is why they are soooo good
Well yes they can, there's at least 2 updated versions of the track.
....and a couple of months later Rednex released "Cotton Eye Joe". Country+Euro dance in the same type of style.
90’s house techno with a banjo thrown in- brilliant! ❤❤❤
This is one of those 'takes me back' tracks. I can totally see it's hardly music mastership but it connects me to great memories of my adolescence, so for me I love it, regardless of its quality. I think that's a lovely thing that music can do.
It reminds me of rollerblading
You are still right on, buddy
Riiight...
It reminds me of racing the police in my 84 Nova Sr (1996)
The dude from Soft Cell - hardly music mastership?! 🤔
Jamming to 90s Spotify and this song came on and I immediately went, “Letterkenny!”
A fine place 🇮🇪
Yes! Letterkenny! I had to find this song, and, I thought it was Gangstagrass!
When your friends in hole - you get right down there with them …
Someday I’m gonna get 15 other people to line-dance with me in a parking lot, Dary Style to this song, playing over the car speakers
The Letterkenny Talent Show
This song is the sole reason I want to learn to play the banjo.
Same, ExDee
You go!!!
Did you learn??
I'm in...
Yeah, how'd that work out? Easier that it sounds, eh? ;^)
As a huge 90’s music fan, I can’t believe I’d never heard this song before. Swamp Thing by Pegboard Nerds (which is basically just a remix of this song) is one of my favorite songs, but I had no idea this song existed until I heard it on Letterkenny.
Same with me until a couple of years ago. I don't think I was listening to the charts in 1994. I was in 1992 and 1995.
Probably one of if not the BEST videos of the '90's music eras.....ah the memories. ......😎😎😎😎😎
Absolute control over the instrument my God it's superb
So 90's
The toddler featured in this video will be at least twenty seven now.
Anyone else feeling old?
Totally brilliant track by the way.
It hasn't aged at all.
Absolute banger!! And still sounds great in 2021
*head bops up & down during whole song*
The coolest/only BANJO rift ever!!! Take me away back to 1994!!!!
Forgotten all about this before hearing it again on the TOTP Hits of 1994 show tonight. Great tune.

+Sherbet_Bomb You ain't lyin'. I was of clubbing age, it was INSANE on the dance floor when this tune started.
Sherbet_Bomb so much!!

So true , this song is highly underrated. .

Country-influenced dance and pop was so huge between 94 and 97. But this and Cotton Eye Joe nailed that genre
Cotton Eye Joe was awful. Catchy, but so cheesy.
And "Everybody Gonfi-Gon" by Two Cowboys
that tune will never get old... NEVA!
Absolutely magic for its time.. enjoy
This baby would have to be about 30 now!
Wow, I haven't heard this song in years! Takes me back to my 14 year old self in 94. ❤❤❤
Damn I remember this song! I've been looking for this for so long and I didn't bother to check dance hits of '94. I remember dancing to this in the clubs. What memories...
I remember the feeling I had that day in Budapest 25 years ago when I bought this tape!!!
Still gives me goosebumps :D
How could I have completely forgotten about this....
One of the best song ever 👊🏻
These guys definitely hold the record for most rocking use of a banjo.
Takes me back 💙
Me too, way back.
Legendary song
The grid samples and mixed banjo but behind it's DJ..❤ they open doors for acts like Greece 2000 or BT or grace .. without 2024% doubt..thats fsct🎉
1994 my mum was training as a nurse she told me about dancing like a lunatic to this in a club called knights in Northampton 🤪🤪🤪🤪 wild times
That was me too
Turns out the search '90s dance song with banjo' was enough :)
⭐ Swamp Thing ⭐

wanted to learn banjo because of this song. still want to learn 30 years later.
Popped into my head today the banjo part. So damn catchy.
When you realise the baby is like 31 now
Cutting edge graphics in the 90's.. 8D
Very cutting edge.
Genuinely not heard this song since primary school and then it randomly appears on Letterkenny 😅
First single I ever bought back in 1994. It was on cassette. Those were the days... before the internet ruined everything.
Evolver -- one of the most played discs in my 90-s youth
In those days I used to hear on Channel V and M Tv now you tube to recreate the nostalgia 😂😢❤
They certainly don't make them like this anymore 👍🏻👌🏻
Sooo great. I like dancing to it when I am drunk haha it's a great tune to dance to 👍🏻👍🏻
Love this music half country & techno beautiful!
P.s. God bless England & from Australia huge big country so much to do in life dudes? Farmers & Farming etc. Go the Farmers & Farming cool dudes!? All over the world too cool?
I just discovered this song in 2024 and I'm in LOVE!! Oh God in heaven yes!
I'd memoryholed this track for some reason. Weird feeling hearing it and seeing the video after all these years. It was massive back then!
Back in the early 90s when I was a teenager I bought this CD to be shipped in to me. I still have it to this day. I loved the CD.
THIS IS THE SONG I WAS LOOKING FOR! Not the pegboard nerds one that ripped it off... this classic can never be replaced 😍
I'm still playing on my Walkman (yes!!!) the longer version of this tune.
Came here googling "1994 club hit song with banjo". Best years in life are clubbing years!
94 first year of high school this was the biggest song at the blue light disco and I smoked my first joint outside then this song played and I was gone lol got my first kiss and got to 3rd base with the local bike had to wait until the next day to finally get to home plate lol
Great dance song! I loved it back in the 90s and I still love it today!
Stay cool 🙏 rip
Takes me back to my final year at uni. Happy, carefree times. Perfect soundtrack.
