    Video Content:
    The positions in this video help to keep the energy in your vault created through your run and take off. Snap, Crackle, Pop are great cues for vaulters who are getting their plant up late. The C, Cord, L, J, I, dotting the i, and U can also be exchanged with words like: plant, swing, extension, turn, pike, etc. The letters we use mimic the positions and are also used by many pole vault programs around the world.

    I’ve been trying to explain this to my vaulters I have different terminology but this VISUALLY explains what I’m talking about. This video is a great staple for my vaulters! Thank you!

      @@WinderUp Hello! Just watched your bud, and I loved it. I’m a former vaulter of four years and I’m on my second year coaching high school pole vault. I’d love to learn some things from you!

    Great video. It would really help my vault to get all of these positions
    down better. Just out of curiosity what is your height and weight?

      I am 6'1.5" tall. When I am competing I am about 168. In this video I was about 170. I am currently 195 pounds haha!

      Check out Rise Pole Vault, they are doing more videos frequently - I will ask them to cover that!

  • @LunaRealtra-TheSecretSound

    I can easily make it over 8 foot with a bungee, but when they switch to a bar, I freak out and can only PR 6'6"

    How do I get my step I hav big problem with my consistency in my running as well

    • @WinderUp
      @WinderUp  Před 6 lety

      There are several ways to get your step but I suggest running it back and have your coach or someone else catch your step. Check out my video " 3 Best Vault Drills". It shows how to run it back and get your step.

    Have trouble transitioning from I to J anyone has advice (stuck in the “bucket”)

      Most often this is a strength issue. Work on pullovers on a highbar! If you can't get your hips over hands on a pull-up bar, you won't do it on a bent pole. Also gotta get feet overhead before the pole unloads, or it will throw you "out" rather than up. Also can't forget to bend that left arm at the start of the invert... or you'll "flag off" the pole.

    I am a vaulter at a small liberal arts college. I’ve recently found that I can correctly bend a 15 foot pole but it ejects me right above the box, where I nearly pee my pants. I see that I don’t have the strong, fast swing up that many pro vaulters have. I had just recently accomplished a tall take off thinking it would be enough to solve all my problems. Far from it, I feel like I have more now. May I get some advice on a drill or two (from anyone) that will help me learn this snappy trail leg the pro’s seem to have?

      @WinderUp  Před 4 měsíci

      I’d check with your coach and see what they have to say about it. If you don’t have a coach, I’d advise moving down to a shorter pole. If a 15’ pole isn’t moving through into the pit, the pole is either too long, too stiff, or both. When on the right size pole, the Running Plant Drill (demo’d in this video) will help you move into the pit more easily. Best of luck.
