What wonderful memories you have rekindled for me. A trip to Idora in the 1960’s was a major event and the park never disappointed. It was a simpler time where a hot Summer day was just perfect for a trip to Youngstown’s Million Dollar Playground. Those wonderful times were becoming foggy memories but you brought it all back. Many thanks for putting a smile on my face today!

This was so interesting. When I tapped on the title, I was thinking “Why do I know the name Idora Park?” I was born in Youngstown, in 1951 in 1953 my parents moved to Lorain Ohio. My baby sister was born in 1954. I do not think I ever went to the park, but I certainly recalled the name.
You did a terrific job putting together this film. So much history good thing you made this composition when you did. Nature reclaims what man cuts out. Thank You again for this bit of Ohio history.

I grew up about 40 miles south of Youngstown and got to go to the park several times over different summers. Thank you for your video and all the great memories.

    Thanks for the video!
I was born and raised in Akron, but would sometimes stay weekends at my aunt’s in Youngstown; she had a house on the corner of Sherwood and Colfax, which wasn’t far from Idora.
This was back in the 60’s, and on hot summer nights, I can remember laying in bed, and through the open window, hearing the not-so-distant sounds of the park; the carousel, the bells of the games, and particularly, the coasters (Jackrabbit or Wildcat), and the chinking sound of the chains pulling the cars up to the top of the first drop…then a pause of silence, and then the joyous laughter and screams of the riders as the coaster cars plummeted down the drop.
    Fond memories, indeed.
Thanks again for posting this video.
    😊❤️

LOTS of memories there as Wean had a family day every year while growing up. Still remember my first ride on the Wildcat, scared the heck our of me. I have been to janescarousel in NY and wow what an awesome restoration job. There on a Halloween night and talking with the operator we mentioned we rode it in Yo. and they let us ride it free for as long as we wanted. Great memories... thanks!

I was born and raised in Y-town. Oh, how I enjoyed going to Idora Park...such wonderful memories. I left Youngstown in 1988, to move to Hawaii, and have not been back since 1999 ( my mom passed away). Take care and thank you.

10:39 is actually a different Jack Rabbit, one that still operates today at Kennywood in Pittsburgh. Great video overall and every one of these online helps keep memories of great small parks alive. We lost many especially in this area of the country.

Thank you; this was well done. I was born in 1956 and grew up in Boardman, OH. I remember Idora Park, but I think it was on its way out when I was there last. The funhouse shown in your video simply rattled my memory! I remember, there was a man working in an elevated booth, and he controlled air blast from the floor designed to blow-off your hat... LOL. Until I watched your video, I had forgotten all those treasured moments. Thank you and God bless.
