@@sweiland75 Tends to happen to people that grew up/lived in different places. Or learned languages through different mediums. I learned English from shows and movies so the way I speak certain words or sentences sound strange.
@@angelajoywaugh__ She is also American by birth. Alhough she did not grow up there, she's spent much of her adult life in the US and seems to have picked up a bit of an American accent. She's said she picks up the accent of those around her.

Yeah same. I generally don't like talk shows but Graham Norton is different. It's genuinely funny and Graham is an excellent host/interviewer.
My little brothers shoe lace got stuck to an escalator. He started screaming like madness and I thought the stairs would eat him up. If I ever see a kid playing in escalators I feel despair.

@@ForteTHv2 his feet got red real bad because we kept pushinh his feet off the shoes.Had to put some creams and all.He behaves really well from that day on. But 20 years later as an older sister I still feel the urge to hold his hands if we go to the mall

Legitimate fear on Anya's part, but my favourite is Mo's bit about the brush on the side of escalators. Glad I'm not the only one who uses them to brush my shoes off.

I used to have a fear that my hand would get blown off opening a biscuits container. The tube is pressurized and when it opens it basically explodes in your hand! Oddly enough I've actually met other people with this fear.

I also dislike revolving doors. It is not a phobia but they always make me nervous because I have a fear of being stuck or closed in (I hate standing in a very long que and being in a crowd of people because of that). But I think being stuck in an elevator must be even more worse than revolving doors there are usually people close and people would see if it got stuck which makes me less nervous but I still don't like them. I avoid going on an elevator alone, it is easier with someone.

I have a phobia of baked beans. No idea why, I just feel horror and dread when I see them, I don’t even like being in the same room as them.
Could be a trauma that imprinted during youth.
This is hilarious, my buddy has the exact same fear.. says it's because he was forced to eat them when he was small.. we used to prank him the whole time by leaving baked beans in random places and he would genuinely freak out

Escalators are the stuff of nightmares. Always scared my shoe would get stuck and it'd drag me inside the meat grinder inside it. Foot first, slowly, as i'm trying to untie my laces but to no avail as the fear turns my fingers into noodles and i am swallowed by this metallic monster and turned into ground meat.

Someone once told me a story about a girl having her hair caught in an escalator and getting scalped when I was little. Don't have the slightest idea if it's true, but I still get fussy about my hair when I'm near an escalator.

I still remember as a kid in the 90s watching an episode of like Rescue 911 where someone got their hoodie string stuck in an escalator and suffocated from it and yeah I fear the possibility.

my older brother has this with food on plates he cant eat curtain foods if they are touching other foods( i.e. mashed potatoes/plain white rice), but if they are mixed in a dish as part of it then its ok(shepherds pie.. ok rice and beans.. ok) plus he is a weirdo to start off anyway!
A lot of people have that. I don’t know why. I knew a girl who’s foods couldn’t be touching and she had to eat each food item entirely before moving on to the next item. Like thanksgiving. All the turkey, then mash potatoes, then vegetable, etc.
The cause is often autism

The fruit thing seems to be a phobia. She gets so upset just looking at it that she can't say the word "fruit" or describe it. The escalator thing is just a fear.
Are you some self-taught video-game psychologist? I wouldn't be so dismissive; she seemed genuinely distraught, and fearful, when discussing fruit. I'm certainly no professional, but it seems logical that there are "levels" to the severity of most mental conditions--from mildly apprehensive to full-blown panic attack.
@@kenc2257 No, I'm not a professional but I did start my doctorate specialising in psychology and body language, however, I regrettably did not complete it due to thinking I was in love.
The reason I mention it, as someone that has dealt with a true phobia since I can remember, It is a very different thing… She showed visible disgust/dislike and was uncomfortable but was still laughing and joking about it at the same time. A phobia is parallelizing, your brain is screaming at you to do anything to get away, it makes people hurt themselves or their loved ones because the brain goes into total uncontrollable panic, It can often lead to people having violent episodes or passing out and even cardiac arrest.
Akin to when people that like things to be even or neat calling it OCD, when in actuality people that suffer with OCD find that incredibly Infuriating because true OCD is a horrific psychological disorder that consumes people's lives.
However, addressing it in the CZcams comments is probably about the worst place I could have mentioned it, it's just very very very frustrating.
I have a fear of heights on screen. When I see someone on tv who is on the gallery of the eighth floor it makes me literally feel sick. In real life I have no fear of heights at all. (I live on the eighth floor of a gallery apartment)
I frequently get something like my backpack, luggage, or bottom of my coat stuck passing a revolving door or turnstile.
So, I guess I've only seen her in the Queen's Gambit ... she is strikingly attractive.
