The fact that this didn't devolve into cannibalism or hunting rich people(okay, for a minute maybe), yet still ended up so intriguing and funny is really impressive. These folks are a joy to watch as well, Anya really has that charisma down and seems to understand the movie well along with Nicholas
That scene you are talking about did feel out of place.
I totally expected people fillets!
That ending though....LOL cannot even ....
Personally that’s where the film lost me a bit, and it never quite got me back sadly. Felt like it shoehorned in some typical horror elements when it should have stayed more focused on its unique appeal
I feel like the chef did that to pacify the customers. He knew the men would have the feeling to run, so he let them run only to be caught. This would make them less likely to try to run again. The chef also knew that the women would need to be reasoned with by another woman. He gave them a chance to save themselves socially only to find that it was hopeless.
This movie was wayyyyyy better than I thought it was going to be.
I've been looking forward to it for awhile and it still exceeded my expectations
Same!
@@RoyaltonDrummer922 I thought it was fantastic
and way funnier!
Really? I thought the beginning was great. But after about halfway through, when it was outright stated that they were killing everyone, I felt it just kind of faded with no climax.
This movie felt like a play. Loved it!
Yeah, like theatre of the absurd.
To me it felt like a short story, almost like something Poe would write
What is the movie name?
@@user-hn5cy1vs5r The Menu
I am betting eventually someone attempts to adapt this to an environmental experience. Or something like it. It's got such a good premise for a creepy dinner theater experience.
I want to eat the cheeseburger at the end. That was the best dish in the film.
Right! I love watching cooking shows and everything, but watching the preparation of this classic, my mouth watered! It looked really good!
Exactly. It brought the chef's all the long lost feeling of what fun and good cooking is. Nothing complicated bs just good old hamburger.
One theory is the burger was poisoned
@@deadlynightshade4108 She lived to the end of the film. Why would it be poisoned?
@@deadlynightshade4108 slowik need someone to retell the message, so he wouldn't mind to let Margot leaved
Anya taylor-joy's accent is so fascinating to hear, so rare to find that kind of accent. Such an amazing actress
she's American and British at the same time so it's definitely special
@@sigmasawayama And raised in Buenos Aires and London. She's fluent in Spanish and English.
@@sigmasawayama and Argentinian I’m pretty sure
Not her fault, obviously, but although I like her as an actor I find her accent a bit annoying. I think that's because it's inconsistent - it doesn't seem to settle anywhere, not even at a fixed transatlantic point. In some interviews she's sounded wholly American and in others wholly English.
@@miked1869 no I get you. It's quite common for people who have grown up in 2 places and it's very hard for me to listen to certain combinations. American and English being one of them.
That choice to show her back to Chef was soo good
We often see Ralph Fiennes as side character over the years, I was ready to see him in a supporting manner but THANK YOU for allowing him to dominate the entire movie! I been to theaters 18 times this year & his performance is up there! At the top even!
he's absolutely amazing in "The grand Budapest hotel" and he's the main character there
@@cantspellARMYwithoutRM it’s been awhile since I watched it & it goes right back & forth to other characters but then again when is he not amazing
@@angelotrinidad6888 If I have to be picky his 'M' character in the 007 films was quite plain, especially compared to his predecessor. but in general he's definitely brilliant in different kinds of roles
He was a leading man in the 90s, I think has done more character-acting in the last decade or so
Please watch "A Constant Gardener".
Ralph Fiennes was really giving dark lord of gastronomy in this movie. The casting was 10/10
I watched this movie at this old arthouse cinema close to me (that's been used as a cinema since 1911) and the reaction I had after it was over was just saying "What a movie!". And I wasn't the only one. People laughed, people gasped. It really is a great movie. I wish I could see it again but that was the only screening they had.
what theater is that I love old theaters.
Small theater experiences are my favorite. I watched Everything Everywhere all at Once in a small theater and I loved every minute.
Wished I could’ve watched this in that same theater.
@@brettmastema7056 Just some random old little theater close to where I live so I don't really wanna publicly write on the internet where it is.
@@currykingwurst6393 Ahh i don't blame u. I totally understand. Wasnt really thinking about that. its cool.
@@johnk5896 When I saw the movie Grindhouse, my friend and I saw it in a great run down theatre in the downtown area where i was living. Sometimes the theatre a movies in can make the film. Although some of the new theatres which have the big comfy chairs tend to be so nice i fall asleep
I love how they all spend equal time discussing their personal choices and how they approached their performances and direction (respectively) and also praising each other and all the other talented people who worked on it. You can tell they all have so much passion and respect for one another and that make for such a great set dynamic and makes for an all the better end product of a film
I actually remember thinking what a good choice it was to have anya having her back turned to slowik- and it stuck out to me that she had to turn herself around if she wanted to participate in any speech he was giving, she was actively having to make a choice to be addressed by him- I love the little details like that in this movie
Anya is being iconically otherworldly as always... Such amazing charisma and that pure "radio quality" voice so full of confidence.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to Mylod explain his philosophy behind how he structured the scenes. And quite the nice additions from Hoult and Taylor-Joy with how they envisioned the scene and their characters within it.
Mylod is a genius, he's a big part of why Succession is so brilliant.
This movie looks absolutely fantastic and I love Nicolas Hoult and Anya Taylor Joy.
it was a great movie.
It was a really fun flick
It was maybe the funniest movie I saw in 2022, though very dark obviously
I’ve never seen another movie like it, truly a masterpiece
Ralph Fienes was great in here as well.
Anya Taylor-Joy can literally pull off every hair color, low key pretty impressive
Great movie. A lot funnier than I anticipated based on the trailer.
Even my mum was laughing. It was so theatrical and beautifully done!
Saw this film at a festival. Wonderfully entertaining. If you haven't already seen a trailer DON'T! Just go into it with an open mind and let yourself be surprised
Anya and Ralph were absolutely fantastic but Nicolas also deserves more recognition. He was so so good.
"I called it bread gate" god I love her way too much 😭
I like Anya's outfit. If I was 40 years younger I’d love to wear it.
Wear it anyway :)
You don't habe to be young to wear a piece of clothing you like! I bet you'd look amazing in it!
Well maybe bring a jacket with it, it looks veeeeery chilly
Dare to! 😉🥰
I loved “The Menu”-brilliant!
Reminded me of the time when I attended a wine & oysters night at a very posh restaurant and the highlight of my night was spotting a local celebrity, huddled in a dark corner of the bar.
He had an entire cheese platter he was guarding and was gorging on and I’d always wondered what he’d be like in person soooo…I approached and asked if I could have a piece of cheese. He responded quite grumpily “no, this cheese plate is the only real food in this ocean of pretentiousness”. He was deadly seriously (and quite drunk), but he wasn’t wrong 🤣.
2:27 I love this bit. If you're an editor you know exactly the feeling his talking about. Creating storybeats with stuff you had no intention of capturing when capturing it, just side material that fits perfectly.
Anya's accent is, like, oscillating between British and American. Sort of a Gillian Anderson thing going on.
Look up her lineage and where she lived growing up. It all makes sense
The actors who were playing the chefs were one of the little gems of this movie.
This is one of those movies that will be hailed as a classic down the line 👌🏼
I kinda doubt it tbh
@@jtaco4101 yeah it was good but not groundbreaking in any way tbh
For me, yes. But for the wider audience it's definitely a bit of an oddity. Dark humour is not as popular as I'd like it to be sadly.
I’m interested in seeing how it ages since there are a couple of things that are a bit specific to this time period, like foodie culture and chef’s table presentation
@@SeniorDankyKang it’s not about the dark humour it’s about the same old “elitism is bad” rich vs poor bs with service industry toxicity thrown in between there are thousands of movies like this out there
I never thought about it like that, but everyone was on set all the time. There were no "extras", but when other characters are highlighted the others are more like extras in the background. It was very intriguing, fun and unexpected. I think it's one that will grow on you even more with multiple viewings.
anya: “sass lvl 1,000”
also anya: writes 10,000
Which means: “ITS OVER 9000”
I love how she takes charge of the conversation. Could listen to her for hours…
It was such a good movie. The ending is perfection. I would love to know what food critics thought of this movie.
They are like, breathtakingly gorgeous human beings. I know we're used to seeing beautiful people constantly in entertainment but imagine seeing these people in person lmao
but seriously for me the atmosphere of this movie just get intense by only the dialogue especially margo and the chef (iykwim) and yeah like Mark said the eye contact was really on point.
She was absolutely stunning in the film! My goodness I love her. And them!
Love hearing about directors that are collaborative with the actors, that let them improvise and bring something of their own to the characters they play, instead of forcing them to stick to a script. Great interview!
saw it yesterday, this kind of movie is exactly my cup of tea, loved it !!
Same I saw it the other day and it was very good.
Such a wonderful surprise of a movie. I love almost everything Feinnes does (Grand Budapest Hotel is one of my very favorite movies). That this character is so radically different, and equally amazing, is just such a testament to his range and ability. Anya and Nicholas were also just amazing in this. Nick's last scene is so tough to watch. Anya and Ralph's last scene together is so shockingly touching and beautiful. Just an amazing, quirky, unique film. I completely loved all of it!
It's amazing to see the improv of these actors that are so into character and made it into the final cut. It feels so natural.
Anya is so witty and eloquent. Her scene breakdowns are so interesting.
I love this woman! ❤
i went in expecting it to be a bit cheesy but this movie was so much more interesting than i thought
I mean the ending is literally a bit “cheesy” lol (I loved it)
Just got out the theaters. It was so good. Highly recommend!!
sorry, but I didn't like it...and I was fortunate enough NOT to see it in a movie theater...and the only reason I saw this film was in fact Anya Taylor-Joy, but she was wasted in this film, the whole cast was wasted, and it was a good cast...
@@panoskarliotis382 what did u not like about the movie?
@@jacinthadang2085 well, I am sure that I am not the only one who didn't like this movie...and I didn't like it because of the script...the plot was awful...
@@panoskarliotis382 Great 6th grade book report you got there. Check plus.
Anya Taylor-Joy is so intelligent and well spoken and so passionate about acting. Such an amazing actress.
Everything Nicholas did in this film was pure gold! Being super snobby, a know it all, even the cheeky photos had me in stitches
The director did a really great job and I love that he is constantly giving credit to everyone else involved.
I hope this movie gets more love, I was very surprised how good it was has a very midsommar feel to it.
It does feel like midsommar when your watching
God what an amazing movie, just saw today and it’s delightful! Really loved listening to the three of them sharing there experience and passion for the film and also great to see how much fun they had.
If you’ve ever seen The Duchess with Kiera Knightly, you know just how perfect Ralph Fiennes is for Chef. Brooding, rigid and intellectually calculated but with an emotionally colic behavior that comes off so chilling it makes you afraid. I was trained as a professional chef and worked with MANY of these kinds of men; and yes, shockingly, they’re all the same. The actor brings his own character in this film however and brings such a uniqueness to chef. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Excellent movie.
Ralph Fiennes was absolutely sympathetic and intimidating. Brilliant.
Nicholas is gorgeous. he kinda reminds me of Sam Claflin (of course it's a compliment)
i thought he was sam claflin when the video started!
@@lyddig me too!!
I loved the contrast between Margo, who is entirely free, and Chef, who is extremely constrained.
The Menu is absolutely 10/10. The cast is brilliant. It took me a while to get on the AT-J train, but now I never want to get off.
My god. Anya Joy Taylor is just so stunningly beautiful and classy looking!
I Hope Anya directs someday, she had some good ideas throughout filming that worked really well.

I love this interview. Everyone seems so comfortable and proud and I love the technical details. Feels very down to earth.
I had no idea what this movie was about because i didn’t watch any trailers and just wanted to see it since Anya was in it, but oh boy it was such a great movie everyone in the theatre was saying such good things about it after the movie ended
This is one of the most beautifully connected cast I love that.
“There’s no food” was one of the funniest line😂
20 years after playing opposite him in About a Boy, Nicholas Hoult has basically become as dashing and charming as a young Hugh Grant.
I did not love the movie that much but I adore listening their creators break it down
Fair.
May i ask why you didnt love it?
Just curious, no judgment.😊
Great movie. Both of these actors killed it.
The details of the mise en scene is just crazy
This is so great. And I need more information for my film class
Watched this without watching any trailer whatsoever. I was shook. Best film of 2022 for me. It was amazing
I love these directorial and actor insights. Thank you.
I love seeing actors talk about their scenes, the thoughts going on behind it and how they personally felt with their characters. It's interesting.
You know it's a good show/movie when Anya Taylor-Joy is in it, especially paired up with Nicholas Hoult.
Congratulations to everyone involved in this movie. Bravoooo
ATJ needs to direct! She's so full of ideas and personality, I'd love to see what she'd make
Now, I know that Anya was born in Argentina and raised between the uk AND the us but doesn't her accent sound just a tad bit irish in this interview or is that just me?
Yes, I was thinking that too! She has a very similar voice to me!!
It’s opposite actually. She was born in the US but raised in Buenos Aires And London!
I’ve always thought that her mongrel accent landed on Irish.
I see this get brought up all the time, but what people fail to pick up on that Anya keeps repeatedly explaining is, she was born in the US (Florida) while her family was on vacation there. So it's like trivia rather than identity. After she was born they returned to Argentina at the end of their vacation. So she wasn't raised American, at all. She only came back here when she was older while pursuing her career.
And she identifies as Argentine because she didn't even want to move to the UK. I think she said the first year there she refused to speak English hoping it would have her parents send her back cuz she still has family in Argentina.
Also... I'm getting a sense that some people find it hard to believe she's Argentine cuz she's white and Argentina is a Latin American country. But if you take a minute to think of the famous Argentine celebrities: Manu Ginobli, Lionel Messi, Juan Martin del Potro, Nadia Podoroska, Diego Schwartzman (sorry, I'm a tennis fan); surprise! Argentina is a predominantly caucasian country. Chile is somewhat similar.
I thought she sounded Bristolian 😂
This is why it's important to pay attention to anything you watch like not looking away not talking while it's playing not missing anything and apparently it's so hard for every CZcamsr to do it
Succession type beat what a legend Mylod
omg iconic acting in this film.....thirsty, mystery, scarey and delish movie. omg. (loved mr hoult and ms joy) bravo mr director.
I love their dynamic
I love that they are dissecting the scene like they dissect the food
Nick is probably the most underrated actor in Hollywood rn.
The very beginning of the movie reminded me of another movie called "Would you Rather?", similar to how it sets up stages or courses of a dish and its underlying theme, and beneath the dish is a representation or darker elment of the human soul, or something to that effect. This movie was an enjoyable watch and watching the deconstruction made me appreciate it more.
this was incredible!!!!
This is an absolutely amazing film. It was very neat to see their take on some of the scenes because everything they were going for worked on me
one of my new favorite movies with some amazing actors!!!
A lot of actually fascinating insight in this!

@@goback3spaces603 What a pretentious thing to say. Plenty of good movies are being released every year.
By the way, I find it ironic how you're acting exactly like Nicolas Hoult's character was in the movie. And Ralph Fines' character hated how pretentious he was. He literally told him to kill himself lol.
@@SuperFrederik112 chef hated the dude for ruining the enigma of his craft by interfering with it without the sacrifice it is required. being pretentious might be a fault but that doesnt make me a judgemental fellow rather a bored one.
@@goback3spaces603 you clearly don’t watch many movies at all if you assume the only popular/ well liked movies that have been released over the past decade are marvel movies. What an amazing movie. For those who have not seen it, don't read or watch the trailer. Take my word for it, please. Absolutely fantastic.

I really like how Leguizamo plays a character here, also being in the Chef.. another classic movie for people in the culinary industry. On top of that, the fact that he plays a movie star criticized for a poor movie earlier in his career, it's funny as it feels like he did appear in every hollywood movie there was for quite some time.
Finally saw it and it was great. Recommend seeing it.
It was good. Not great
