In this part, I’m Explaining how to choose storage devices for your computer. There are several types of storage devices in the market. The oldest and most popular technology is HDD which means Hard Disk Drive. It is cheaper than other devices when we compare the cost for gigabyte ratio. But it has the lowest read and write speeds. And also because of the mechanical parts in it, the lifetime of an HDD is less than other devices. While HDD using a Magnetic Platter, SSD using integrated circuits to store data. Because of that SDD has a faster read and write than HDD. And also more reliable than HDD as there are no mechanical parts in SSD.
There are two types of SSDs as M.2 and SATA when considering the interface of connectivity. While the SATA port is using cables the M.2 SSD s are connecting directly to the Motherboard by M.2 interface. So it is neater and space-saving than SATA interface SSDs. When we considering M.2 Interface SSD there are two types of them. One is M.2 SATA and the other one is M.2 NVMe. M.2 SATA has the same speeds as normal SATA interface SSDs. the only difference is this thing is connected directly to the motherboard while normal connecting by the SATA cable. The long term of NVMe is “Non-Volatile Memory Express” which is more advanced technology than SATA technology. It is using PCI-E technology to transfer data so it is very fast and reliable. But NVMe SSDs are a bit expensive at the present.
When you building a computer it is a must to have an SSD. Because it not only reduce your boot time but also smoothes every software installed on it. The most appropriate thing is to use an SSD as a boot drive and software installation drive and use an HDD to save your projects, images, and other things.
