I've been flying with Turkish Airlines for the past 4 years.
It's a very good airline.
I also flew from the new Istanbul airport last month and all I can say is that it's an incredible airport.

I flew them from London Heathrow to Lagos and back. It was one of the best flight I have ever taken.
The service was excellent and the crew did look after the passengers. Kudos to them

Hi Sassy, enjoyed your review very much. Though ive not flown Turkish this reminded me very much of my experience flying Brussels airlines Brussels to Accra, a similar distance, same aircraft. These A330-200s are at least 20 years old which explains the ‘tiredness’ you described, Brussels airlines aircraft were the same, though i couldnt fault their excellent service having done it three times. Your map describing istanbul made me laugh! - you are several hundred miles out, even on the wrong continent LOL - nice review 👍🏾

That's the only problem with turkish airlines. It's a different story when you arrive in Istanbul Airport and request for ur hotel.
@@gordonowusu-ansah2628 we had a stopover last week on arrival we requested for a hotel and they checked my husband passport, Ghana pp they said it wasn't possible. Stayed for 14 hrs very disappointing with pregnant me.
It's good though to see flights to Africa improving and being enjoyable

Mayowa Oladosu it was outside the airport closer to the city center. The new airport is in a remote area so there isn’t any hotels close by. The hotel was a simple 3 star hotel.
Do u only show ur passport when traveling to ur African country or u have to also show the resident permit of the European country u are traveling from at the check in?

Sassy, thank you so much for making this video. I can now see that you listen to your viewers. I am the one who asked you to do a vlog on TA Lagos bound. I have now based on your response, subscribed to your channel. I did a return to Istanbul from London, 5 years ago. I was very impressed with their service, but in particular their catering attention to customers. I asked for this vlog, because I have been told that a lot of the Western airlines downgrade their standard of service for flights to Africa. I wanted to see if TA does the same. Maybe they relaxed their standard of cleanliness for the toilet, because they were Africa bound. First impression matters always. I am glad you said you got into it first. But must you always film the toilets? That's the only part of your vlog that I dont like. I always have to look away when you are showing the toilet. I think Turkey has the best Duty Free area in the world. Your vlog has encouraged me to strongly consider taking TA to Nigeria. I normally do direct from London. Turkish Airlines keep it up. Sassy once again thank you.
Some airlines hate the lagos route but some airlines love it. But i have to say that they are improving

Fabulous Preview again but I wanted to ask you as we both have the dual citizenship can I use my Nigerian Passport to book to travel to other African countries where visa is not needed from the UK or do I need to use my British Passport to travel from the UK and when I get to that country present my Nigerian Passport . X
RACHAELPAGAYETV Yes you can use your Nigerian passport to book to African countries where a visa is not required for Nigerian citizens. Just carry your British passport for your return to the UK 🇬🇧

I flew IAD to IST 5 years ago in Economy in the same 2-4-2 layout...it was the best economy flight i ever had..they kept the Raki,wine,beer flowing throughout the flight...they handed out menus for you to choose from also..I will be flying Business class next year back to Istanbul on their new plane..
Used them twice from Manchester England to Bankgok with no issues

Flew Turkish Airlines last week. In its category, still it is the best, but it was way better (especially the food/catering) back in the day.

I just flew Turkish airlines from JFK to Lagos Two weeks ago the flight and Istanbul airport are awesome. The people who work in the airport are somewhat rude imo but it was a good flight

Someone here said that Emirates is the best. That might not really be the case. Someone vlogged her experience of Emirates for almost 3 hours on CZcams, about 3 years ago. I would not wish what she went through on anybody. She also ended up having to buy another ticket, because she was frustrated/tricked into missing her flight from the Nigerian end.

Maybe you could organize a petition against those airlines that provide subpar service to African countries. Do you submit a complaint via their website or email the CEO when you experience this disparities in place service? There are a number of websites that publish CEO email addresses for large corporations. Just google the CEO name and email address as search words and at least 2-3 reliable sites with the current contact information will usually come up.
The seats are big compare to AA airlines ... better than I thought .. that’s bonus ... like Saudi Air .. food I cannot say Turkish dont eat rice usually .. I love rice but in domestic airlines they served prawns ..meat etc .. on my trip to Cappadocia business class .. it was delicious .. and for the toilet even it is cleaner than standard airlines ..she probably used it after someone else . It ‘ normal . They cannot clean every time passenger used it .

You dont know nothing about Turks and Turkiye foods.. best rice products from Turkiye.. and we like too much rice..

Sassy Funke that is good to know, they have alwAys provided me with a hotel except one time. Hopefully they will build some hotels round the new airport soon.

The Ancients Ancients that is true but it is very expensive compared to the prices of hotels in downtown Istanbul or those near the old airport.

You can choose airlines which you want to fly. Its your own will. But pls dont forget Turkish Airlines was flying to many destination in Africa where other airlines fear to fly because of danger. Even now, you can fly some cities in Africa with only Turkish Airlines. If you have any complain about airline, send feedback to them before send negative comments on youtube.

Hi Sassy, have flown TK severally to and from Kenya the service is good, however the ground personnel and airport staff are horrendous.

One thing I notice about Turkish Airlines the Turkish passengers were disciplined and they didnt make lot of noise like passenggers in Qantas .. drunkard Australians singing like hell and they smelled boost was terrible ( I was in A380 Airbus Qantas from Sydney to LA ) and Cathay Pacific from Vancouver to Hong Kong flight the Chinese passengers behind me burping continuously with the smell of beer .. and farting 🤬🤮in aeroplanes .. air con .. not more Cathay Pacific .

Royal Air Maroc is awful and also Air Algerie. Turkish is pretty good! El Al is very good too and Alitalia is not bad, BA is very reliable as is KLM.

Been to Istanbul about a month ago, but I find the new Istanbul airport too big(the bigger it is means it takes far longer for you to reach your gate!) and a little sterile tbh; I much prefer Heathrow's new Queen's terminal which is smaller but with more character and the shops better and classier (it has a mini Harrods there for starters! Lol😂 )
Eyeofthetiger haha I know that mini Harrods at the queens terminal. The airport is very big but has to be to accommodate the passengers they have to pass through yearly. I do agree it will take much longer to reach ones gate.
@@SassyFunke I just wonder if Turkey has overestimated the future passengers growth to build such a huge airport as Istanbul airport is currently only the world's 17th busiest airport in terms of passenger numbers while Heathrow is ranked 7th and is already at almost 98% capacity and bursting at the seams! That third runway is sorely needed along with terminal 6!
@@eyeofthetiger6002 The previous airport at one point was the world most busy international airport and Turkish Airlines could not grow further and buy more wide body aircraft.. then came the 2016 coup which reduced visitor numbers.. now numbers are recovering and Turkish Airlines has lots of wide body aircrafts on order that it can facilitate in its new hub which will allow it to surpass Heathrow in the next 3 years ✌

For me their buisness class seats aren’t the beat and once we had an incident on board with one luggage and had to wait 2-3 hours for the flight to take off
