- Moderatorin Sol Gabetta ist diesmal unterwegs in Paris. Hier spielte sie zum ersten Mal mit der amerikanischen Geigerin Hilary Hahn das Doppelkonzert von Johannes Brahms. Im Gespräch verrät uns Hilary Hahn, wie ihr Leben als moderne Solistin aussieht. Außerdem in der Sendung: der Filmemacher Benedict Mirow, der Hilary Hahn über fast 20 Jahre begleitet und zwei Dokumentarfilme über sie gedreht hat.

Diese beiden Frauen empfinde ich als sehr großes Geschenk. Ich hatte das Glück, beide schon live zu hören und zu sehen. Es waren ganz besondere Minuten, in denen ich alles um mich herum vergessen habe, außer der Musik war nichts mehr von Bedeutung. Wie schön, sie in diesem Video zusammen zu erleben.

Fantastisch! I don't speak German; I listen ein bisschen. :) Matters little. I love Hilary and Sol in any language. Yes, yes, they are great instrumentalists. No doubt. Technique to spare and envy. For me, they are great musicians, great performers, and great artists. Everything I hope for in the human spirit. To see them together, the look in their eyes as they play, listening to each other, to the orchestra, the audience - listening deeply and intently, is the joy of music making and the joy in the heart of this listener. This video clip is an elixir for the spirit, poiesis at its finest, an exiler for the healing of the world-spirit. Brava! (PS - take a look in the orchestra member's eyes when performing with them, when they play solo encores. Very special. They know what goes into that level of performance, mastery, dedication and joy taken in their passionate embrace of their vocation.)

moment - sie schließt nicht einfach die augen und spielt. diese frau ist eine harte arbeiterin. sie erarbeitet jede noch so kleine nuance im ton und ausdruck ... wie ein tänzer. wir sehen nur das ergebnis. aber dahinter stehen ungezählte stunden harter arbeit und auch schmerz und tränen.

I consider Hilary the GOAT among classical violinists after listening to every major fiddler of the 20th and 21st c. However, her escapade into folk confirms something that I noticed a long time ago. Non-classical musicians can play or even compose classical, jazz, or other genres outside of their chief area of focus in an authentic way. Chic Corea and his beautiful Children's Songs come to mind. Classical musicians occasionally try to do that but mostly fall on their face because they don't have enough preparation for those other genres. If Hilary really wants to sound legit in folk, she should get together with some bluegrass musicians for a few lessons. I'm sure Allison Krauss or someone else would be honored to show her a few stylistic tricks.

How can I find the footage for the 1995 concert with this quality? I have searched everywhere on the internet to find it for purchasing or streaming. But there are no options except a few fragmented low-quality clips on youtube. I really can't understand why BR hasn't published it.

wo ist hilary hahns ling ling workout bei twoset violins. die holen soooo viel leute in die klassik und sind selbst gute musiker, auch wenn dort viel gealbert wird. sie haben 500.000 abonennten, nicht nur 50.000... nehmt sowas rein und ihr tut euch und der klassik nen dienst.
