Southern understood the assignment
I like both versions. In JSU I love the more melodic blend and SU I like the accents and power. You can’t go wrong with either. I’m just glad they don’t sound the same which to me speaks to their writing style and sound.

After really listening to analyze both arrangement. Im feeling the dark message JSU arrangement has more.
Yeah JSU’s version is melodic & teleports you, SU is more on the nose & forceful
That's the key to good arrangements. That song doesn't have that much to it so, you don't want to drag it out or add too much to it. Power, get in and out, finish. As a writer you need really good decrement when attacking a song such as that one. Good stuff by both bands.
southern version sounded like a score for a movie jsu version felt more like a song
I believe JSU at times tries too hard to be loud & different at it takes away from the song. They can be too Bass hornish( of thats a word) or too trying for power with hole notes and not the melody of the song. Not bad but, they tend to not write the actual song at times and that's where they lose the core of the artist. Or, at times some of their arrangements are too long in a way and the writer finds himself elongated in some of their work. Both bands had nice power. Nice film for both bands. I did like SU version. Sounded more of the 🎵

Love the diverse arrangements. Bands should put their own style and brand on the music they play. SU is going to hammer you with their trumpets and mellos and use the btones for emphasis. Jackson relies more heavily on their btones for a darker sound. It’s all on personal preference. Good job by both.
