That first song played by JSU was Magic Mind by EWF, very complicated. I see that the Boom is doing a continuation of last season. That's it, just executing and enjoying it! And moving directly in front of SU was perfect. BTW - a lot of what's going on with a band is with the leadership, js.

Boom’s last song was like sending the B team out in the field cause the lead is insurmountable at that point. Never seen southern get punched in the face at home like that before.

I agree with you 100% regarding Southern song selections. Their band members didn’t want to play most of those songs selected. Kind of like in "Drumline" when Dr. Lee’s response to Mr. Wade’s top 40 song choice was to call for Flight of the Bumblebee, remember A&T Drum Major’s head hanging reaction? Deflated, LOL. Great job Dr. Little, moving the band was very strategic move and sent a strong and clear message to Southern that “Da Boom” was ready to handle business, and it also showed “Da Boom” members their Leader was all-in and committed and in return they bought in handed out the “L” to Southern. Luv Da Boom 78 (Zero 78).
I’m shocked at ppl being shocked at how clean Jackson was/is. They were clean in the beginning of last year too.
We've been clean since the 60's. 2015 band was sloppy at times but they were still clean to an extent.

Southern volume and power have been masking their deficiencies for as long as I can remember. Texas Southern was the better band when they battled them. Now Jackson got in they a** with equal power and volume.

Countless victories in my book for both of em and neither of em really just having any off years. I’m jsu made but I’m not biased I’m jus a musician and I listen to everything from arrangements to execution and balance. I jus love listening to dese bands showcase and perform every year cuz they’re always puttin out sum good quality consistently. I am thoroughly impressed with Jackson St. They handed out a L . When SU got pressed they tried to go to the power tunes but it didn't work. JSU sound quality has really improved

Figured JSU would be on demon time this year since that Day with the Boom they had at Edna Carr. They on a revenge tour because while they had the most lopsided wins last year they got caught off guard a few times. They getting their licks back this year

I'm a forever Jaguar fan, but we took a L in the stands and on the field. In our defense, we have season book holders, so the bands can't move until the 5th quarter. I love the honesty KB, keep up the good work!

Crazy part is I’ve been saying this. SU book is starting to plateau and other programs are coming with that fire.
This game and matchup happened way too early into the season. SBOTS MOPPPPPPED! That's it; that's all.
Jackson State is leaving no crumbs. They are consistently balanced and song selections are amazing. The ballot by SU was arranged and performed brilliantly though.
JSU sounds so good. Ive never really been a fan of theirs but whom ever is arranging their music these days needs to be acknowledged.

Su tried to out power jsu and it didn't work. Su played loud to try and cover up muddy arrangement, Tbone fumbles. Try again next year, but the season is still early. To say JSU was just okay, u r in denial just like u were with your thoughts on the football game.

People are finally figuring it out about SU. I've seen the close-up videos of the trumpets playing over the years, and it was bad notes all over the place. They've been masking those bad notes with numbers for years. They are definitely missing Simmons

@RicoPendergrass JSU doesn't have as many trumpets as SU so you would be able to hear their imperfections more, but there's a video of JSU trumpets playing on the field and the camera was right in front of them. They sounded good.
@@RicoPendergrassJSU has been rebuilding their trumpet section for a couple of years. They have a lot of freshmen and sophomores. They still need polish but they are headed in the right direction. Both these bands need to emphasize that everybody can't be screamers.

This was definitely a good battle. Is it mainly traveling budgets that keeps them from traveling with all their members? Big ups to JSU for handling with what they brought. I think I counted like 28 tubas at Thee Merge. Can't imagine having them all plus the additional members that didn't make it. Either way, all respect to both bands!!!
It’s not even that SU only had enough space in that corner for the amount we brought. It’s that simple. 25 tubas at the merge and only 10 upperclassmen. In every game this season we brought the amount that could fit.

I’m SU all day but I have to slightly agree. That song selection and execution goes JState way. SU had their moments like with funny valentine and the last song they played those were SU rounds. They just wasn’t consistent with that energy in both the 5th and Zero qtr. JState showed more consistency. This time around they get a slight W. Nothing in JStates book is better than funny valentine but overall they get a slight W.
