1955 Ford Thunderbird 6.0L V8 Twin Turbo 1150 HP Build Project
Dwayne was wanting to build a car that could compete for the Ridler award in Detroit. His sons designed and started the car. They then contracted Greening Auto Company to take the car and finish. It has a banks twin turbo small lock Chevy. All the bright work is machined or hand made by GAC. It secured the 2012 Ridler.

Obviously no expense was sparred here, so why not just build it with a Ford under the hood?

When I was a teen, my father restored a 1956 candy apple red Thunderbird. They had to have the upholstery customized to get the correct stitching. It was preceeded by a blue '64 and a tan '65. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
What a gorgeous car. The lines are great and the execution is masterful.
It is a SPECTACULARLY bad decision to put a non Ford engine in it. It really ruins the concept.
Outstanding fab and body and paint, then a chev eng.? WHY? You must talk to a man named JACK ROUSH, He will put you on the right path. What a shame to the build.

BUT, despite the fact that the motor is a Gale Banks tweaked unit it is still a SB Chev. Talk about wrapping a pig in gorgeous lipstick! Wrong, wrong, wrong.

I seen a Bird build on Fantomworks like this and put a late model GTO. Motor in it, very sad...
It's a 55 T-bird that may never be surpassed. That said, with that kind of talent he could have easily integrated the engine, tranny and running gear from a 2018 or newer Mustang GT ..allowing the car to retain its soul.

Mind-bogglingly impressive. I occasionally drove the 56 T-Bird of a high school girlfriend of mine in the early 1960s. Never could have imagined back then the automotive technology to come, and how masterfully a T-Bird could be customized--beyond belief.

I love reading the comments of the would be if they could be ,and their fellow haters. They should stick to their 98 Taurus and be happy cause they sure miss the point of builds like this. I know I could never build something of this level but I can dream and admire the skill.

I bought a '56 driver back in '89. Preserved it as mostly original .Kept the 312 and ford-0-matic ( NAPA) rebuilds,,but went with a super red/super white porthole top, and 10 spoke 14" mags and black walls. I drove it like I stole it for 25 years. Last car show in 2014 we took 2nd place, and looked as good as it did in 93 when the drive train and paint went on. I love your super lil hummin' bird man. Thanks for the great video on the build. I would love to FLY that machine.
