"Oh, that's nothing -- it's just my brain can't stop bleeding from the accident"
Simon, that sounds pretty fucking serious.
To have worked on such a masterpiece. What an incredible honor. Every dev should be proud of bringing such a piece of art to life.
You worked to make SOMA sir i am almost ending it. I want to congratulate you it is amazing story and game play thank you all for making it
It's funny to see the old initial CZcams reviews. They don't seem to understand it or like it. Now it's known as a quintessential horror masterpiece praised by all players. Reminds me how 1982's The Thing got bad reviews, now it's known as possibly the greatest horror movie ever, praised by all.
I have great respect and admiration for all devs.
the way this game made me feel, your right
I consider commenting into a SOMA dev comment as a total honor. You and your pals made my top favourite and most loved horror game ever. You are like a blacksmith of a Golden Armor. Its a honro for us to receive your great game, and to this day im still waiting another one!
I heard a great quote about this ending.
"There is no happy ending. They merely traded one abyss for another."
Sounds like the Black Mirror episode
@@user-fm6rn7fb9k the game itself looks like a Black Mirror’s episode
Or a Black Mirror movie
4:55:25 - that moment when you had a quarrel with one of your loved ones and you realize it's too late to say "I am sorry"...
They just had a nice moment too😥they were both just celebrating after it all happened
I was honestly expecting Simon to understand what was going to happen with the ARC after what happened with his previous body. The story is sad because only another copy of him survived and not him. All this time he was struggling to save someone else, hoping that he would be the one to be saved. Then again...what is "saved" in this game? Simon was already dead 1 century before. Those were just soulless computer scripts imitating human behavior based on the memories and experiences of real human beings. Biologically speaking, nothing was saved.
I am not so certain that your perfect copy would be "soulless". You would have just created new being which will developer separately from that day. And that clone would be self aware (eg have soul) just the same way you are.
@@desther That's what i like about this game. It makes you wonder what is a soul. I don't really know if being self aware is the definition of having a soul as you put it. My personal opinion is that anything that is directly or indirectly created by an intelligent mortal being does not have a soul. It is just a smart construction which can imitate a human being based on the "feedback" it receives (the memories). I am not absolute about it though. I could be wrong. The only thing that is certain is that noone alive knows that. We only find out after we die and unfortunately that's too late.
@Sostrat
A lot of that is really interesting because a lot of what counts as consciousness has been debated for a very long time! (There's some Issac Asimov books that have postulated this too).
@@stratvar The brain is made up of billions of neurons that interconnect. Somehow that makes us conscious. If we made a computer with billions of "neurons" that functioned in the same way, arranged in exactly the same way as the "scanned" brain, would that be conscious too? So there's a chance that there is a genuine self awareness on the ARC.
Personally, I'd rather just die than exist as a consciousness orbiting the Sun for (potentially) billions of years. What could possibly go wrong? Remember the Star Trek Voyager episode with the clown?
@@mikesully110 But there is self awareness. I do not doubt that. What i have said is that those things do not have what we would call a "soul". I believe one thing is different from the other. As for what you said in the end, i would probably have chosen to die as well than to live for billions of years in that state.
It's a scary thought to live inside a satellite that can be victimized by solar winds, radiation and other obstacles. Nowhere is safe and if anything happens, no one can materialize outside of the Ark to address.
But one cool idea to think of is time dilation, you could live 1,000 years in the Ark, and it would just be a minute in reality.
Cringey thumbnail
In this game, every corpse has it's own story. They're not just props. They are all important pieces of a fascinating puzzle.
they really put some thought into this story, really fresh take that I haven't seen replicated much since and this came out. This was all day a pc game for me and it was during an era for me of videogame heaven with torrenting.
I want to play and experience it firsthand but I’m too scared lol
@@benjaminburton2082 Don't forget this is a game, not a movie. You can progress at your own pace. As for the monsters, once you understand the game mechanic and their intelligence, you'll also figure out how to exploit them. I particularly enjoy trolling the 'proxies' for example. - they can't climb into vents or windows. If only we'd have a toy crossbow to shoot rubber bolts at them, to annoy them further....
@@benjaminburton2082As someone who emerges into a game too much, I think only the first experience with those monsters will make you uncomfortable. Like when you meet a proxy in this router room. After you beat him they will not be a problem for you. I'm not counting akers that motherfucker was scary as shit and i was stuck on his level for 1 hour.
is there a way to find out who is who? just like Return of the Obra Dinn
YES! No commentary, no video of a persons face distracting from the gameplay. So rare lol.
@sote ful dude me too!!
You must be new here. SHN does no commentary runs very well.
Actually just search no commentary. I like seeing people's reactions though.
@@swagnswift4281 yeah me tho, but some of them didn't really enjoy and feel the game, especially horror games. They keep talking much and faked their frighten.
I always search for no commentary versions when looking for play throughs / game play , ect. type videos. Using those key words helps a lot for those like me that usually hate it when people talk over the game's audio and / or way too loud. There are a couple of good ones but they are few and far between so I mostly stick to no commentary ones.
The ending made me cry. I feel bad that that particular Simon couldn't get on the Ark. But look at it this way: perhaps he can use more brain scans of those people and try to reclaim the surface. The WAU is dead, so no more threats, and robots are practically immune to the dangers of the surface. They could start from scratch on Earth. In my opinion, that's better than being in a virtual world and just hurtling through empty space for all of eternity.
i'd love to see that version of the story but i think the way you put it kinda misses the point, for all we know we may as well be 'in a virtual world, hurling through empty space for all of eternity' right now
Patrik Banek Well, their version of the Ark is supposed to be all happiness and sunshine, and I think after a while living like that, you'd realize how fake that is. Especially since they are aware.
@@UltraRik True. But we aren't living in a virtual world that would be utterly pointless.
@@jameswatsonatheistgamer or are we? 🤭
@@kumarpugazhenthi8742 No we're not. It's a nutters dream.
9:10 - The code to the door is 2501. This is a well placed Ghost in the Shell reference.
In the 1995 movie Project 2501 was an advanced spyware which became self aware - becoming the first AI ever. It went rogue, and now it is seeking asylum and recognition as a living being.
I noticed this on my own by my 2nd playthrough. It's perfect.
This game has so many details that just seem to be there for notice upon repeat play through.

@@kcio3erene307 Yes for sure. Might have been some inspiration there, since both are Computer Ladies deep under the sea.
Ok but is there ANY indication of what the code is in the GAME? Or do the devs assume we have to beat it using only the internet

The most underrated game of ALL TIME.
Story-wise, this is such a masterpiece, I don't even know where to begin... I have the original, played it time and time again, just to try and understand the deep meaning of the choices involved on his journey through the labs. For those of you who don't know what its about, for you sci fi fans, do watch this walkthrough, and pay attention on EACH WORD, each piece of information found. I trully Christopher Nolan will hear about this game and make it into a movie, because it has his vibes in it.
This game isn't underrated, it got great scores.
Really. Of all time? Wow
It’s not underrated, it’s just indie so it’s not well known. I mean hell, I didn’t know about it until like a year and a half ago.
This is actually my favorite game of all time. Maybe game is not the perfect word, but experience.
It is underrated. I read a bunch of good responses to SOMA, but also a lot of "I didn't like it because sci-fi". Yes, Amnesia was excellent, but SOMA is a true media masterpiece.
This game was just so incredibly depressing that it's impossible to describe in words. Just this ending, absolute masterpiece of storytelling
Just finished playing this game. As depressing as it is, it's a God damned masterpiece. It seriously needs to be made into a movie.
I wish it would come to consoles

I love ocean based stuff, in fact i think this is why i love it, the shear unknown factor of the bottom of the ocean, the dark waters of uncertainty, and the horrors that lie beneath.
Its unsettling yet beautiful.
yes! that's my favorite part of the game, when the climber descends to the ocean floor. and you're walking around this permanently dark, utterly alien environment. it instills a great sense of awe
On a positive note, with life surviving in the seas and oceans, it is likely that the surface will regenerate... in a hundred million years.
Then time and the possible existence of intelligent life begins anew. O_O Funny, I was actually thinking the something similiar if you consider the planets history.
Distant empires or unions will walk this planet finding ruins and plastic form our realm as they venture into the seas they find horrific creetures in mutated forms in a way representing them with legs, arms,...... even fingers. ( you continue the story)
just a few hundred or tens of thousands at most
@@helpiamstuckonthismanshead3385
So just like Subnautica's Pre-Cursor Story except we are the Pre-cursor and some Alien is the one who's gonna find what happened to our planet?
I don't think so. The sun gets blocked out with all the smoke from the fires on land. No sun means algea can't photosythesize and create oxygen. No oxygen means that even many fish can't survive. Those animals we saw shouldn't have been alive in the first place, the food chain would have been drastically disrupted. It's only 100 years but eventually they'll die out from lack of nutrients.
SOMA is a masterpiece but the kind of horror it touches... damn makes it hard to play. Existential dread is the worst thing
I've suffered with it since I was a child, desperate to know the meaning to existence
@@SamuelBlack84 Me too but it didn't last very long if i remember correctly. I think filling my brain with outside experiences kinda put a stop to it.

Yet so freakin scary
definitely - if you haven't been colliding with this possible perspective on life and consciousness, it can cause a nervous breakdown imho. But it might be a good thing - unlike what the game suggests, there are in real life things we can hold on to about ourselves, there is a difference between a simulation and real consciosness, even though only *you* have access to it.
I watched this walkthrough to see if it's too scary for me to play. It isn't. But the ending was SOOOO sad and depressing that I decided not to play it anyway. I appreciate the game being posted though. It saved me from having invested my own time and effort.
@@omgsolikevalleygirl not gonna lie this whole playthrough made me feel weird and uncomfortable, i had to pause every now and then and try to distract myself with something else... i feel like for me personally, it's the kind of game that could really mess up your state of mind and leave a scarring psychological impact to you. not to mention nightmare-inducing.
My brain can't stop bleeding... Yeah i would not be calm once i heard that xD

What an intriguing concept. Simon was basically given immortality via his scans but against his will.
Nobody wants to be around to see the sun swallow the earth

This game absolutely destroys philosophical beliefs, thoughts on the purpose of human existence, everything in its way.
There are no words to express how this game shattered all of my beliefs. Amazing. Seriously.
I didn't expect this game to be so thought provoking. It's absolutely amazing!
I mean it's fun to think about but it forgets to take into account that human beings have souls. A robotic simulation of a human mind is not the same thing as an actual living breathing human being.
@@jimjohnson6944 Well yes, but scientists dont really know what exactly souls are and where they are, if they even exist. A robotic scan of a brain that is aware of its existence may be all that is needed to create a soul. The interesting thing is part of what happened in the game, has happened in real life. I dont remember why, but once a newborn baby had to get a part of its brain cut off for whatever reason. It had one side removed and the remaining side functioned as both the left and right sides of the brain. Afterwards the baby grew up to be a normal person and their soul was not removed in the process of part of their brain getting removed. But what if we put that other piece of brain into some type of a brain sustaining jar? Would it develope an entirely different consciousness? There are many things we dont know yet
@@jimjohnson6944 sorry, "human beings have souls"? A: what is a soul?, B: why do you think we have one? C: are you religious?

Yeah, I don't get how someone would not get it 😅 there's just two (or more) sentient beings now with their own perception.
Exactly. It's just two divergent points of one person. They are equally the same as they are different. The only reason the idea of a coin toss exists is because wetsuit Simon was asleep and power suit Simon was awake. Both their consciousnesses were Simon. Over all Simon is just a big ass piss baby.
@@patricklukcy13 the idea of a coin toss is absolutely misleading and just overall wrong. Even if one is asleep and one is awake this has nothing to do with a toincoss
Im not usually the emotional type, but the ending made me cry seeing how they were so close to physically leaving.
That's the best thing about it, the whole game plays with the concept of "being human". Were just brains attached to fleshy mech suits.
They weren't though, the ARK was solely for their digital uploads.
I mean, they werent ever close to leaving. Their minds would never transfer on to the ark, just another version would be made there. I mean, if you really think about it you arent really even Simon at that point in the game. But i mean, if you think youre simon, you act like simon, and you had all the memories of Simpn till the point of the scan, are you still Simon?
I love you just walking away from Carl so easily even as they increase the volume of his cries lollll
man u checked all toilet cabins but skipped like half of the crew apartments?
I beat this game seven times. It‘s just so good.
Same here. I'm hoping to play a 5th time, just to see if I missed any hidden details around the world. Pure sci-fi gold here. Truly hope Christopher Nolan can find and adapt this into a movie, someday.
I'm eagerly waiting for the next Frictional masterpiece! :)
Soma came out several years ago already. I wonder when they'll actually do it?
Anyways, have you also seen "Inside"? Thats another game with an astounding story, with a chilling atmosphere. Also highly recommended, for those who liked Soma.
"Inside" as the successor to "Limbo"? Then yes!
Actually Frictional Games has two secret games in development right now. I check their website regular.
I love SOMA, it's easily one of the best sci-fi/horror games ever created. But it's too emotionally overwhelming for me, so I've only finished it once.
What a bone-chilling, emotional and depressing ending.
Reminds me of the film Threads
SOMA is amazing in a way that it scared me by making me feel like I am really all alone in a desolate world. The atmosphere and scare tactics in the game definitely helps build up the story and adds to the immersive nature. I love how the story just makes me think and then everything adds up in the end without being to cliche. Truly one of the best sci-fi games I've played. :) (I don't easily get scared by horror films and games... but I played SOMA mostly during morning when the Sun is up! XD)
Ah, right now I fully understand after watching this all again. It's basically all about copy paste, you copy the original and the original may not live on but the copy does. So, in the end, it's not the original you just the copied you. Your original "brain" may or may not carry over. So instead of there being one of you, there could be many of you but you also may not be able to carry onto the next section per se.
So the you that you know stays behind and the you that was copied lives on... It is scary and sad and crazy to think that a brain scan can even live on after your body dies. It is also a scary thought that we all could end up being computer programs someday.
SHN Survival Horror Network xD thank you SHN it was a lot to process but yeah I get it now.
Ty YuZekken tsk spoiler
That's actually scary
Actually, I find that very exciting lol. Like playing russian roulette with life extension.
Plus, if every me lives, that's insanely cool. The more mes out in the world, the better.
So THAT'S what the whole "continuity" thing meant...... Oh wow.
The emails at the beginning when Simon inspects the laptop seem a bit suspicious to me. Its like there were no proper tests done/could have used more testing before should have been used and main character was an unwilling participant in this unsafe 'experiment'
The way he says "please don't leave me alone" gets me every time. It might be one of the saddest lines of dialogue Ive ever heard.
watch past the credits
I like how unceremoniously you killed Omnicron Simon. Straight up whacked him upside the head a few times just be sure lmaoooo
Finished the game a few hours ago. Already miss it. Started out pretty slow but boy it hooks you. Great experience.
Yes there is some niggly things early to get by. Even the shuttle tunnel it's hard to see the path.
Even onetime I didn't play for 2 years I forgot the tool chips were actually right in front of my nose.
I love how friendly everyone seems to be.
I played the game, I used this walkthrough because I got stuck in a couple places for like 30 minutes. Playing it firsthand is amazing. The enemies themselves aren’t scary. The scary part of the game is the uncertainty, loneliness, atmosphere, not knowing what the ending is going to be like, seeing every piece of information unfold not knowing whether it’s real or fake. Tbh I thought the ending was Simon waking back up from his therapy or whatever in the beginning, but just seeing reality unfold before your eyes with voice logs and diaries. I liked this game, not because it isn’t hard, it because the story and the atmosphere and making the game make you think about what’s going on
I dunno man, Akers is pretty damn scary
Am I weird for watching this whole video in one sitting? I've never played this game but I loved watching it play out.
if you’re 18+ you need to get a life
@Outlaw_Med I guess I don't owe you any explanation but ill give you one anyways. I am way older than 18. I work construction turnarounds which is normally between 5-10 weeks of 7 days/week and 12 hours/day. When the turnarounds are done, I usually have @ 1-3 weeks off til the next one. Most of the time it's usually 2 weeks of down time until the next turnaround. I watched this video in between turnarounds. Just a little fyi.
Played SOMA some years ago, on my Mac. It scared the s***t out of me: as a matter of fact, I am the WORST “Survival Horror” player ever born on this planet. Although terribly touching and moving - expecially the end - I had never had the heart to play this game again. Too scary and all in all, too intense for my weak soul.
So I have found the way to remember it piece by piece by simply watching this awesome 5-hours gameplay on YT.
Come to think of it, will most likely do the same for AMNESIA.
Thank you for sharing, from the bottom of my heart. It's been a remarkable experience.
Cheers.
Wow. The storyline of this game was just so epic!!!!! Not gonna lie, I actually fell into the same line of thinking that Simon did. I literally felt like I was going to see the Simon who fired the gun transfer to the ARK. Even though I was told about the process being a COPY.
What a mind job this storyline was.
Ive always thought the games sets you up to think that in a disingenuous manner. You follow perspective of the next Simon every single time you copy/paste except for the one who doesnt get to the ark.

This game looks and sounds absolutely stunning. What a fascinating game, it's like watching a movie.
It looks a lot like Alien Isolation
Just finished the game today, what an absolute masterpiece. Got it with PS Plus a couple of years ago and did not pay it any attention, until now when I thought it would be nice to play a horror game. Boy was I wrong, this cannot be described only as a horror game, as it brings so many more topics to the table. The living in a simulation such as in Matrix, the duality and the soul debate covered in movies such as the Prestige or Oblivion, what a great experience
Same thing here... I got it from ps+ for free... Didn't expect anything from it but I was wrong...
It's one of the best games ever made by the team who worked with Amnesia also. It is on the level between Valiant Hearts or Command and Conquer.
Ending just broke me. I was crying knowing that Simon will stay forever under the ocean.
This game does a really good job when it comes to creeping out the player. It messes with your head in a way no other game I know does. Yes, Dead Space, Alien: Isolation, Amnesia, they are terrifying in their own way. But Soma is disturbing in a very unique way. There's something in the atmosphere that feels just wrong and at the same time familiar. I can't quite put my finger on it. At least every time I come back to it, I get adrenaline rushes and I feel very uneasy, to the point I almost feel sick. It reminds me of a recurring nightmare I used to have. The contents are unrelated but it has a very similar effect on me: a distinct feeling of heaviness and pressure inside my chest. Like I want to scream but I can't make a sound. Yet I keep coming back, as if my mind is trying to figure out why it happens. Does anyone else feel like that?
sounds like sleep paralysis, when you can't move or breathe deep but feel the need to, when the mind is awake but the body is asleep. I've had this a lot back in the day.
Yes
Aw man I loved this game. So heart wrenching.
Did you realise that you kept Brandon Wan in the simulation without shutting it down after the interogation. He will be trapped in this empty scanning room with no one forever. Cathrine asked you what you want to do an you just walked away!
Sometimes you just Gitta be ruthless
that ending... THAT ENDING! master piece
Working my way through the Amnesia games again, then I'll be playing this one for the second time. Can't wait really. It's pretty damn good
It's funny that you got damaged by the first enemy at the door, because it's intended to _not_ hurt you, but since you opened the door instead of waiting it did, then you didn't heal from the first heal thing, so poor Simon, heh.
SO GOOD. Worth replaying over and over again.
Yep
I'm watching this gameplay in 2023, years after the release, after finally having the courage to see it through to the end. What absurd quality in many ways (I'm suffering from an existential crisis right now lol). I'm grateful to have watched it. They should make a movie based on this game, honestly!~😭
I learned about this game from TikTok and knew I had to watch the whole play-through. The game has such great atmosphere and is a great concept. I'd really love if they made it a movie because I think it deserves to be seen by more people.
I wish we have more games like Soma, what a masterpiece this was.. i played and ended it years ago, but i’m still here. I loved it so much.
This is amazing. Not my type of a game, that is why I didn't play it for more, than an hour, but watching the story here was great! Thank you!

So the original Simon just got scanned and kept on living while his conscious transferred to the future Damn
Love it when you get copied and drain ‘diving suit Simon’s’ battery then hit him over the head with a box😂
I have just completed my second playthrough. I didn't deactivate Simon 1.0. I didn't turn off the life support and I didn't kill the wau. It can send people back in time and save humanity and bring back all of the technology with it and that includes itself.
1:58:10 him shaking his head “no” to the monster😂😂😂
As soon as he hit delta and they started hinting towards the introduction of the Proxies I noped the heck of full screen
IMO One of THE BEST story endings to a game I've ever played. Period
I have to admit, this game was a really good horror experience. Been a while since the enemies, while few, managed to make me feel such tension and uncomfortableness. The ending really hit me hard. In the end they were all copies of the consciousness whereas the real original people died and their souls have moved on. Still, the thought that you are still a copied consciousness with the memories, feelings of the original really hits home the whole theme of existence. As much as I want to see an epilogue on what happened to the Simon copy at the bottom of the ocean, I feel that would just bring even more sadness. Even if all the monstrosities created by WAU died when the core died, he is still alone at the bottom of the ocean as the last literal human consciousness left on Earth. The lonely existence on a dead world would drive anyone insane.
The voice acting is top class. Extremely believable.
This game is on par with Blade Runner in terms of landmark works of science fiction. Will Humanity be lost like Tears in Rain too? The ending fills me with so many complex and contrasting feelings. What a masterpiece.
Outlast: im the scariest game you'll ever play
Soma: hold my monsters
soma was so much scarier than outlast. i could play soma only on safe mode and i finished outlast. i remember one guy was saying that its not that scary after finishing it on safe mode i am glad that i tried at least that. i wouldnt be able to finish this without safe mode i ended at 1/3 of the game playing in normal mode.
@@stefanstarosta4413 I disagree full on. Soma had me laughing 99% of the time cause the monsters just weren't scary. I found myself literally throwing objects at them and just running around to get shit done. I didn't even notice the underwater monster till my friend pointed it out. The game is amazing, just not scary
@@memee3737 Soma is a Horror game but not a Terror one like Outlast is.
@Me Mee You’re not supposed to get scared at the monsters, but the themes.
For these games you need a good screen and even a powerful speekers for the detailed sound effects. Without that none of these games would be scary for me.
Oh no, the ending...it's so sad. He ended up being all alone in the entire ocean😢
Loved the game though
Starlight_Aditi DAMN SPOILER ALERT! 🚨
Muse ppl don't care sometimes... you shouldn’t read comments til you reach the end of the story😏
Best game ever, a lot of work and dedication from developers
I never finished the game because I often don't know where to go, thank you for uploading this :)
Woah, you missed Catherine's black box? That's a big plot point you missed, dude. Nice playthrough though.
Is it the one where she gets killed by her colleagues?
I actually would prefer an end like this; after the disconnection of Catherine in the end, developers should give a free roaming option to player for visiting back all sectors, just for make feel the deepest lonely in the fallen world. Then a "disconnect" button should be located anywhere on the screen and says "You're about the disconnect from this body. If there is no more copy (scan) of you, this process will lead you to your end. Are you sure?" when activated. Then, when player confirms, current beginning of the ARK world in the game would be more suitable i guess. Anyway, game is deserved awards, especially for the best sceneario.
SHN i never would've made it thru this game without u... Thanx so much for the walkthrough 🌷💐🌷
You seem to skip a lot of optional lore/content.. I would like to see more of it though, especially with so splendidly voiced games
That was the most depressing ending I think I have ever experienced from a game.....ever.
The funny thing is that's probably how humanity is going to end anyway. We either find a way to upload ourselves into a virtual world to live on or just die off when no resources capable of sustaining life are left on this galaxy.
Probably the best game I've played in a loooong time. That ending though.
you could datamined a body when you place the ark inside the shell and find out the death of catherine. and so many encounters were left unnoticed. this playthrough is kinda rushed.
Yeah I found this is the style of this channel... Very goal driven, and the goal being completing the main task, rather than fully exploring the story.
this is my favorite game all the time....me and my friends, we played it together so much, literally everyday we play SOMA on discord....truly masterpiece
I played it once by myself, didn't find it scary.
Played it with my friends, It was a comedy show. We just threw shit at monsters the whole time and ran to do shit, not giving a shit if they heard. I didn't even know in my solo playthrough that there was an underwater monster. The game Is great, just not scary
@Me Mee You have to admit though, the sound design is excellent.
Am i crazy or did it seem like he stayed injured most of the game? It felt like a lot of things would slip out of focus constantly. That and there were a few times events were happening and they were just... ignored. He would just stare at what he had been doing and not look around. Great game, good gameplay but that was honestly incredibly irritating, felt like you just wanted to rush through it as fast as possible.
Yep this one was too rushed.
Half of this game is the story and most of the story you get from data mining the various blackboxes, I was saddened that he didn't seem keen on listening to them.
Late to the party but I’m glad other people are mentioning it. It really killed me watching this. I’m happy he at least stayed for all of Sarah’s words. I’d have been crushed if he’d been as savage to her as he’d been to Amy and Carl
That's the best horror video i've seen in quite a while.
If you’re here late and still haven’t played the game; don’t watch this video. Not to spite the author of the video of course, but the game is worth being played. There is a significant difference between watching a story unfolding and immersing yourself in it. I’d do anything to forget all about it just so I could play it for the first time again. What a masterpiece.
Really wish the player would see through the dialog with NPCs, there's a lot getting missed
Late reply to late video but god same it killed me
Wonderful! Finally! ^^ what a RUN! I took 14hours or so (everybody who played it knows why.....hide and seek etc).....guess you used hints and so. I thank you, now i can watch it in a short....way. haha
Out of all that you forgot to buffer on Catherines body at the end. Lol 😂
This was honestly amazing. Such a great story, but it really messed with me.
3:09:25 bro t bagged the body 💀
i love he abyssal plain so much, it's probably left a lasting impression on me more than any other video game level. the juxtaposition between the mundane familiarity of doors, lights, little structures, etc., and the utterly alien environment of the pitch-black abyss is just so perfectly atmospheric. like walking through a cul-de-sac located at the firm edge of oblivion. i don't know why it leaves such an awestruck impression on me. it's just absolutely genius level design in every way
This game was doing so good at avoiding Deus Ex Machinas, until the very end...That Leviathan killing him at that exact moment was so "Ugh". Especially when you consider how it had to burrow through the ground to do so, but can't burrow through the tunnels Simon hides in when running from it. Excellent game, but man I wish they had made a better way to save Simon there.
That, and the all "You're the only one who can kill the WAU" thing felt super rushed and didn't blend well with the story.
@@SorenToKeiran-Murasaki Well, I think that was just a bi-product of the situation because there isn't anybody left. So, he basically IS the only one who can. It would be easier to deal with the WAU at this point because so much time has passed.
@@Lord_Poyo I think it was fine but it was executed way too fast
