As if the creativity isn't enough, they had a week between when they were invited in and they had to turn in the finished product. And they had to work remotely with Alessia Cara. Their preferred producer (David Bendeth) wasn't able to travel to Mexico, so they asked Matt Squire if he would be willing to come to Monterrey for a week to work on it, which he did.
James Hetfield apparently originally wrote the song as a lullaby for his son. Dany (guitar), Pau (drums), and Ale (pronounced AH-leh, bass) were aware of it, so they recast it as such. They arranged it as a pop song for Alessia, and then added rock elements back in. This really shows how skilled they are as musicians, to be able to not merely record (and hopefully perform) out of their preferred genre, but write and arrange such.. They also did a behind the scenes video set to the music, with scenes from them working in the studio that really show how focused they were.
They are extremely proud of this, as they recounted in a vlog (they do a lot of vlogs for their Patreon supporters, of which I'm one). Justifiably so.
I've listened to the other 5 versions of Enter Sandman on the Blacklist; they are all stylistic adaptations of the original. This is the only one that recast the song, and as such I consider it head and shoulders above the others.
These ladies were called up to bat for Metallica's Blacklist album and got a walk off Grand Slam. Total re-imagining of the song and paid homage to Metallica obviously one of The Warnings inspirations. I have to say Metallica did a great job signing off on this collaboration thinking outside the box. Alessia Cara sounded great in the first half working with The Warnings producers to get this solid mix. Great Reaction Cody !

This is a fantastic deconstruction of this this song. Take it down to it's component parts, shake them up, and re-arrange them into this haunting creepy lullaby. They lead you through never never land, down the stairs, past the creepy lady mocking you with the prayer, and beat your head in with the original riff. #NumberlyGarfs
Well that is the point of the Metallica Blacklist. The artists were told by Metallica to remake each song as they wanted! I think they’ve really done a great job between new chords, shifting tempos and still the original lyrics! 🔥🤘#NumberlyGarfs
They did this in a week with Alessia in Canada and The Warning in Mexico over Zoom calls.
My favorite part is the breakdown with Dany/Alessia harmonizing the lead vocal and Pau/Ale harmonizing a background melody. Second favorite part, the closeout paying homage to the original. Just a killer reworking of this classic.
The buildup of Hush Little Baby is truly wonderful, isn't it? In the original it's a bit of an afterthought. Here it really does bridge from the breakdown to the climax of the song.

How do you pay homage to an anthem as you completely break it down and recreate it? How do you do all that while keeping the integrity of the original intact? How do you do all that knowing that you either succeed or fail based upon the reception of the millions upon millions who know that original composition? How do you do all that in a week...collaborating with an artist living in Canada who has their own fan base of millions...during a pandemic? This is an absolute masterpiece of dark story telling inspired by the original backstory that inspired Enter Sandman.
TW already covered the original that has 24 million views on it's own. No need to do what they had already done. They may well have risked everything on this composition and they nailed it. Pure genius.
I'll be happy with what ever The Warning Army suggests. There are no bad songs in their catalog but it is always fun to go back to the beginning and just experience the growth of these humble, talented young women. It allows for a real appreciation of why they create and it's refreshing to understand that their reasons are atypical to normal expectations.

Great reversion of a classic, one week to make it, the producer Matt Squire traveling from Washington to Monterrey to meet with The Warning, The Warning doing all the restructuring and arrangements of the new version, Alessia Cara recording her parts in Canada, after taking the songs. David Bendeth taped to New Jersey for mixing. Great job from everyone and great final result
Yeah, it does seem a little odd at first. A pop singer plus a hard rock group plus a metal song? Gotta say it was awesome.
They were given 8 days notice to complete this in time to make it on to the Blacklist Album. Producer Matt Squire flew overnight from LA to Monterrey, MX, and Alessia Cara was in Toronto. They deconstructed the original song and rewrote it as a pop song, then Rockified it. They wrote, arranged, recorded and mixed this in ONE WEEK! Absolutely Astonishing!
Great reaction! What makes this so amazing is that it was all developed, arranged, and recorded in 1 week! The video came later but still unbelievable! Alessia was in Canada while The Warning was in Mexico and they had to do it remotely. Metallica told the 53 artists for The Black List album to do what they wanted with the songs- The Warning and Alessia Cara certainly did! This was shot in an abandoned textile mill outside of Monterrey, Mexico and, since Alessia wasn't there, she was projected on the walls to effect.

This was an epic transformation of an all-time classic into such a unique version to be a new classic, I know I love it. Haunting vocals, cool cinematics, awesome riffs, man this one is just so good. The Warning & Alessia Cara did this song right.

HOW? Only The Warning know how! Their vision of music is beyond many. Just look at the other 5 songs on the Blacklist album. A few tweaks here and there. The Warning. Not a chance. If they do something, they put their heart and soul into a project. No half assed attempt just to put a song out for the prestige of being on The Blacklist album. They wanted to be different and stand out. They were nervous about changing so much to the original but hey, What a rendition. To me, this is song writing at its best and to do the job in 1 week. Amazing.

Metallica Only Gave Alessia Cara and The Warning a Week to record the Song and get it to them, and Alessia Lives in Canada and The Warning in Mexico and they couldn't get together because of Covid 19, The Warning were talking with Record Producer/Song Writer Matthew Squire he helped them record the song Alessia recorded her part in Canada and The Warning record their part in Mexico and The Warning asked David Bendeth the Producer of their Mayday EP to Mix the Song he agreed and then they got it to Metallica in a week for the Blacklist Album, and it was the same thing for the Video Alessia recorded her part in Canada sent it The Warning in Mexico that's why they are not together in the Video.
I remember Pau saying that they were talking with Matt about something totally different but then asking him “hey Matt, you want to come to Mexico to help us with this Enter Sandman song we’re working on?” And Matt was like “Sure, I’ll be there tomorrow.” 🤘🏼😁

Great reaction Cody Lam! I love everything about this. James Hatfield said this song was written to be a lullaby for his son. So The Warning rearranged the original song to have more of a lullaby vibe; to be featured on Metallica's recently released "Blacklist" album. Their voices blend really well with Alessia's. Their harmonies are spectacular. Their arrangement of this timeless classic is off the charts. Their video is amazing. Legendary work here. I appreciate all of their HARD WORK!
Grammy Award winning artist Alessia Cara is more of a sultry soulful Pop singer/songwriter. She and The Warning share the same international agent who suggested that she collaborate with TW. So with very little time, TW jumped at the opportunity; rearranging the song and recording the music and vocals in less than a week!

Great reaction, although this was call for a double reaction, Enter sandman cover of 7 years ago when they were 9, 12 and 14....they rock it them they blew it out now
This is the difference between a cover, as they did in 2014 when they were 14, 12 and 9, and a remake as is this when they deconstructed the song and rebuilt it in a different way keeping the key elements of it.
Metallica asked them to do this and they put it on the on the 30th anniversary remake of the Black Album Box Set.

This cover is the REAL star of The Blacklist. They changed it around just enough to make it their own versus the ones that are basically carbon copies of the original.
Everyone keeps drooling over the Miley Cyrus one cuz that's what the label wants but forget it, THIS is absolute best of the entire collection.
They did to this what Metallica should have IF they weren't a heavy metal band. They did a great job of pulling Alessia into the rock genre. Because I've heard the original sooo many times i actually prefer this version lol like a breath of fresh air.

Here is one of the groups which keep rock in good health with NEMOPHILA and LOVEBITES. And a little below BAND MAID. But that's only my humble opinion!
For me Alessia plays the mum putting the child down. As the child easies into sleep The Warning then takes over the child's sleep (the Sandman) and leads them deeper into their dreams. Then as they enter the final riff they transfer the child off too Metallica and off too never never land (crib death)
