Found out I am autistic this year. Explains everything about me honestly. Instead of being like “oh no, I am defunct and broken” it has been eye opening. I stick to my daily routine, I hate loud/complex/unmanaged sounds (loud and complex can be okay if I’m the one controlling it, like music or TV in the background). And yes, I did collect dinosaurs :)
Someone had a good analogy I’ve seen elsewhere. It’s great to learn that you are a normal zebra and not a strange horse. I’m a normal autist and not a broken “normie.”

Nadav's deeply penetrative laugh adds years to my life expectancy. It reminds me of Tom's pain yell in old Tom and Jerry cartoons.
The interesting thing is that I had many ear infections as a kid, & unknowingly spoke very loudly throughout my childhood, even though I'm highly sensitive to certain sounds. I was diagnosed with Autism last year at 24 years old.
Did you have to see a specialist? I don’t know how to find out
@@doctadrey3000 Yes, I found a psychologist that specializes in Autism. You're likely going to need to find one as well because they need to be certified to administer a ADOS-2 test.
Similar here, I had many ear infections and operations as a kid/teen. I wasn't diagnosed with autism until I was 32
I’m afraid if I went to one they’d just tell me I was dumb. I genuinely wish I had some sort of autism. Particularly the kind where there is slight O.C.D. cause my ADD is extremely off the charts bad. I make music for a living and if I don’t sit down and write a complete progression/melody/complete song in one sitting then it can take months for me to focus to be able to finish it. It’s a pain in the ass.

My ears are insanely sensitive. Im someone who has to cover their ears every time when an ambulance, fire truck, or cop car is going by. Even while in my car. Works out well to have super sensitive ears bc Im a full time musician and I need really good hearing for writing and recording, and also for finding pitch while singing and audio engineering all my recorded material.

I’ve always wondered if I was slightly autistic. One weird thing I do is count how many letters are in words/sentences. It’s not even that I want to, it’s like my brain HAS to know. I’ve done it since I was a child and some days it gets so bad it starts genuinely annoying me because I can’t focus 😅 I can count the number of letters incredibly fast in my head by using a ‘beat’ as I count.
I know what you mean by gettin into a “beat” or rhythm when thinking. Look up “stimming” see if that makes sense for you

I often count my steps when walking. Like I’ll count how many steps fit in each square on the sidewalk. “1,2,1,2,1,2,3,1…” my mind does this without even actively thinking about it. Been doing it since I was a little kid. Little things like counting random things make me wonder if I’m on the spectrum too haha
I have adhd and do the same thing. My therapist said it’s an obsessive compulsive trait.
