    Being a Golden Retriever Owner I can tell that it's not as easy as it seems to raise a Goldie. Even though they are one of the most intelligent and gentle dogs, there are quite a few challenges that every new parent goes through. So I decided to share all the advice and tips for raising a Golden Retriever.

    10 weeks old now, hands and arms look like I fell in a briar patch! lol. Techniques work just have to stay with it and don't lose your patience. They're only a puppy once, enjoy the moment for it passes way too soon.

    This is good to know! I don't think im being consistent enough with my pup at all! Sometimes when he bites at me, I stop everything, othertimes when he bites, I just tell him no until he releases and then continue playing. He's 10 months old now and still bites at me pretty hard. Most of the time he just gets clothes but othertimes when hes not as careful he get me too and owwww! So yes! I think it's time to stop all biting even at clothes!

I really love this channel and Beagle Care, because it has given me so much information on Golden Retrievers and Beagles. Thank you so much! Also, your Golden Retriever is ADORABLE! Ugh, my golden puppy is 13 weeks on Saturday and the biting is RIDICULOUS! I had 2 golden puppies before this one that never did any of this so this behavior is really frustrating and overwhelming. I don’t really feel like I’m enjoying him at all. When he’s awake he just bites me, my clothes, shoes, he’s totally ruined one of my good coats, etc. he’s got tons of toys and chews and I try to redirect him but he literally cranes his head around the toy I’m holding to get around it and bite my hand. I stop playing with him and leave him in his gated area but he just shakes the gate, barks, howls I’m high pitched screams and tries everything he can think of to get over the gate. I really hope he grows out of this when he loses his baby teeth because so far I’m not enjoying him at all!

      @bakeraus Před 3 lety +7

      We were in the same issue and what helped us.
      - Schedule = Sleep, Eating, Toilet, Play...and stick to it.
      - Wear the puppy out they are high energy. Play a lot but only within the schedule.
      - Never let the puppy bite your hand. Move your hands out of the way and don't move they will get bored and find something else to bite which is hopefully a toy.
      - You have to keep it up and puppy dates work because they learn boundaries from other dogs.
      - Use treats to make the puppy sit and make them eat slowly out of your hand with you holding it in your thumb + palm. Make sure they are genty if not close your hand again.
      Good luck!

      @@keeplearning3000 All good :) they will test you.
      Depending on your lifestyle we run something like this
      The Buddy (Dog) Schedule.
      Moves forward an hour if we get up an hour early.
      6 am Potty break
      - Morning Play and Bonding Session
      7 am Meal then potty break
      9 am Potty break
      11 am Meal then potty break
      1 pm Potty break
      3 pm Meal then potty break
      5 pm Potty break
      7 pm Meal then potty break
      9 pm Take water up
      10pm Potty break
      Midnight Potty break then straight to bed
      Try when you get home to not pat or even call his name, just let him out or walk in don't make any fuss, don't even pat. Then once he has said hello and gotten his energy down they give him a pat. I found our puppy that once he was tired he would bite a heap more, you nearly need to treat him like a baby and put him to rest away from a lot of noise etc we have the bed in a bedroom away from us and even close the baby gate so he chills out and sleeps by himself.
      I think you will find something which works for him but just try a few different things and you have to be SUPER consistent.
      What breed is he?

      @@bakeraus golden retriever..he does not like to be in crate ..if i put him on crate and close then door he will become agressive try bite all the grill .I try to put him on play pan and he jump off from that pan ..I placed the baby to confine in one room he took he face out of gate .Whenever he come back from out he just want jump of the house ..But I think I will try your trick and wont say his name and let him calm down .Whenever he bite me I leave the room .

    • @bakeraus
      @bakeraus Před 3 lety +2

      @@keeplearning3000 hahah I have the same breed! Goldie, they hurt when they bite your hands and toes. Mines coming up to 12 weeks old now.
      They will calm down if you train them and show them that you are the boss. Try it out to make it boring for them, even try to have a toy close by and he bites you remove your hands straight away and you then put the toy in his mouth as a replacement. If he then grabs your hands again then repeat it.
      We don't use a crate and I think they are illegal where I am in Finland. We just have the bedroom with a child gate in the doorway.
      Get treats in your hands and make him work out which one it's in and hold it let him lick your hand and then reward. Might help to reinforce the idea that your hands aren't to be biten.
      I'm sure we will get there in the end, maybe when they are old and slow hahaah
