Dude, Imaginary roots are not even in our syllabus.. This trick is for one markers, if it asks direct roots and we use quadratic formula when we don't know the middle term splitting.

IT DOES WORK ON SOME EQUATIONS BUT IT DOES NOT WORK FOR EVERY EQUATION FOR EXAMPLE :
4x^2+4x-15=0
Check again it works for this equation

That's true it works only for some equation
I tried x^2 -8x - 1280=0
The roots are 3/2 and -5/2
