  • sadly price and forced redundancy is everything with the cheaper washer makers and they use die cast aluminum drive plates (spiders) which eventually fail due to corrosion.
    this stainless steel one has seen years of normal washing use, and several severe fires, and it still runs true!.

    The other makers already know about the miracle of stainless steel. They work very hard to make it so their washers are as cheap as possible and will fail just out of warranty. Then they have the opportunity to sell repairs that are slightly less expensive than buying a new washer. That's their formula.

    very good video. I agree. all front load washers should have stainless spider arm. aluminum will get corroded and break. just a matter of time.

    its a bit thin to weld but I riveted some in with stainless rivets, just need a few small paddles around the outer edge to start the vortex :D

    I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE BUT I WILL NOT BUY A FRONT LOAD WASHER UNLESS IT HAS A STAINLESS STEEL SPIDER, SO BUYING A USED TOP LOAD WASHER MAKES MY WALLET AND I HAPPY.

    My parents had an LG stove (now mine) and still have an LG fridge/freezer. Both are crap and both are poorly engineered. The stove smokes all your food and the freezer drawer guides cracked and crumbled away in a couple years because the molded plastic guides were so thin at the corners and a very sloppy fit. Electrically both have been reliable though.

    I have a kitchenaid from 93 and it still works fine to this day. It's had 3 or so ice makers but it keeps on goin without any problems. It's all that electronic crap they put in them...

    Mmmm, flaming good quality! :-D
    Yes, this looks like it can spin a few more piles of flamin' logs. Seeing as the spider on this isn't going to melt in a hurry, it'd be interesting to see a 'FlameSpin' with some kind of forced-air input on it to get it upto blast-furnace tempertures...Yesss, look at that baby glowin'! :-D
    Get it spun-up, fired bright red hot, & then melt down a few more CRTs into funky shapes, just like the one that came out of that microwave! :-D
    Thanx for showing, :-)

    I should have mentioned that we have a Samsung fridge, no problems with it so far other then it's a little too small. The plastic parts also seem to be alright. I don't know why the old Kenmore (Coldspot) had to go, it worked perfectly, but we had to go with stainless for some reason.

  • @OlegKostoglatov

    Well we have a Samsung unit, and no problems with it so far, the plastic parts seem to be holding up, I don't think that there are any electronics in the doors so we are safe there. Kenmore doesn't make anything they just farm it out to other companies, our last fridge was a Kenmore (made by Coldspot) and it ran perfectly for years, the only problem was that it wasn't stainless. That being said I trust the Samsung fridge over the stainless Kenmore stove, the stove feels flimsy and tinny.

    They all wear out eventually, even if they are made properly, but it would take 20+ years to wear out instead of breaking in 5.

    Oh. Yeah, same here... I'll take a Whirlpool or a G.E over and LG/Samsung appliance any day.. lol. I know someone that has a Samsung refrigerator, the electronics in the door was failing so he had to get the entire front door replaced. I know someone else that has Kenmore, they have already replaced the main controller in it had failed. I know another with Jenn-air fridge, had to get her door replaced cause the ice-maker failed. It's almost like "Who do you go with!?".. lol

    I cant agree with that i just diagnosed an Asko front loader washer machine and the spider was broken in three pieces requires part 361A300600 of the model wl6532xxl. In which the spider is made cast iron it gets corrode and it brittle. That might of been true ten years ago but this machine was only 5 years old and it didn't last it long. now i cant find any parts replacement for this washer...que asco..(in Spanish to be disgusting)

    • @Wasmachineman
      @Wasmachineman Před 8 lety

      +Mario Lanz Those Askos aren't real Askos, they were made by -Samsung- Daewoo. The real ones (like my 12003 and 16004) are extremely reliable. Cast iron doesn't corrode btw, it's the Alu spiders that break.

    No experience with their fridge quality but I'm working on an LG dehumidifier where the fan motor gets hot enough to boil water and trips a thermal cutout every couple hours. I'm sure that does wonders for the health of the compressor, which keeps running with no airflow for cooling and no air through the coils. There's a reason LG are known for phones, not high quality appliances...

    I have never ever heard in my 33 years on this earth that washing machine spiders are the cause of breakdowns. In the UK especially. one is more likely to get a fault with the electronics or bearing than the spider, so completely disagree with this video.

    • @Aussie50
      @Aussie50  Před 7 lety +5

      I wonder if the chemistry of local water and washing detergents is different over here, I have found loads of machines with die-cast ally spiders that had rotten out and broken. I would bet its people using some "earth friendly" strong alkaline soaps that just LOVE eating non-ferrous metals.

    Well both are Korean companies so I'm not sure if they have moved their cell phone production to China. I know a fellow that shares that theory though, buy appliances from appliance makers not ones made by an electronics company, though Samsung and LG make fridges and they seem to be alright, obviously their washers are crap. I would still prefer a Whirlpool, or a G.E washer and dryer though.
