man, that thing still rips today
80s had the best looking dirt bikes to me all the new stuff is graphics
Yup they looked tuff the newer ones look to tribal.
The white and red Yamahas with the radiator on the handlebars were my favorite looking.
@@ChaNnArD-mD I had an 87 KX 125 that was my favorite looking.
@@577buttfan I remember back in the 90's I had a 1985 CR125 amazing bike, but some guy in a 90's KX250 would always pass me on 1 wheel 😂😱
@@ChaNnArD-mD The 250s are badass!! My friend has an 84 cr250 awesome bike!
Anyone else liking on the rear fender and number plates. Obviously not a great look by today’s standards but unique for the early 80s
Always loved that setup
I love that look it’s edgy
Always went perfectly with that particular bike! Definitely unusual.
must say love the 80s dirt bike look
Me and my friends, some were a little older than me when I was 15 and we all learned to jump on a 1980 KX 125 in 1980 and we will never forget it.
Love the old Kawasaki exhaust note.........just delicious ❤
Brings back memories with the number plate rear fender looks cool af.Who ever done this massive respect sir
I wish they would keep that look
@@rossilake218
A lot of people hate it. It’s funny, either people love it or they hate it, there is no in between.
Can't believe how fast that thing is for a 82 model, love it.
what a badass bike!
Hats off to Christy on the graphics work on this and ALL of the other ones I've seen her do too! Nice!!!
I always loved the look of those kx’s with the integrated number plate in the rear mudguard / fender.
You can see the rear suspension lever and it just looks so tough.
Great job guys 👍
My childhood. I want one so bad. Saving and coming to you soon.
I raced that exact bike in 1983 in NESC in the amateur class, great job brings back sooo many memories. thank you.... regards Dan
My most similar bike was a 82 KX 250. Air cooled two stroke reed valve with standard porting.
It was a very nice machine first year for production KX to have disc brake equipped.
The number plates were kind of unique and functional not really popular.
The uni-trac was in it’s third year and getting better but still room for improvement.
Plenty of power across the power band and would rip hill climbs.
Bike sure brings back memories.😊
My buddy had one back in the day… Sooo crazy that lil Scoot… BEAUTIFUL!!!
A friend had this bike. It was an iconic looking bike back in the day and it still is today . Always reminds me of Brad Lackey.
im buying my next bike from you just because of how American you are I love supporting hard working Americans
The 1982 Kx front plate was so cool they used it on the 1983 works bikes!!
!n 1983 I had a 1983 KX 125. Maximum Horsepower was achieved at 10,500 RPM. quite a punch at mid-range revs. But, overrevving did not yield much. You would have to be a very good rider to take advantage of the power band that the '83 kx-125 had to offer. I also had a 1981 KX-125. That bike produced maximum Horsepower at 12,500 RPM. Was a non liquid cooled engine that was a real screamer. Pulled a many hole-shots with the '81 KX-125. Nothing could ever beat it in a drag race.
One of my favourite kx of all time just looks stunning with gold rims and swingarm ❤
I Absolutely love that 1983 Kawasaki KX125!!! Sweet Sound too.
Absolutely stunning ken ,had one in the uk 82-83 great times, love your channel
Kx 125 ripper light weight rocket bet that was a blast riding out of the shop I really enjoyed your video awesome rebuild Kap
80s dirtbikes..True Americana..RAD
I had the same model and loved the look! Very durable bike.
That bike brings back .memories I had the exact same bike. Awesome job ken.
Best sound and power old school rules
Salut Kaplan America elle est magnifique David le français et vive les usa ❤
I Love This Channel. Always Great Bikes. Especially 2 Strokers!
That's when motocross bikes had some soul to them and you could tell instantly what brand bike was coming from far away. I am a Yamaha guy but always considered this model KX as being on of the best looking bikes of all time.
19 83 Kawasaki KX125 Factory tuned you make me feel like a kid watching this video a lot of my friends had that bike absolutely gorgeous Kaplan Cycles God Bless America❤
Absolutely perfect 😍 That’s exactly how I would’ve built it except I would’ve put a full DG exhaust on it and modern Footpegs 😉
thats a little beauty ken kawasaki were always known for there awesome power
This is such a beautiful bike!!!
I love the champagne rims and swing arm
This Video is Proof That All Boys Need Fathers. My Father Helped Me learn to ride, helped Me with anything I had to do with rebuilding top ends and so forth. He's 83 and I'm 58. Long live Masculinity. The Absence of This is Everything that's Wrong With Our Country today. We had some interesting times. We didn't have CZcams. We had to dig through manuals to find things out. Calling shops etc.
Me and Jimmi scraped up the money to buy (RM100)our bikes. Our Fathers were never involved (in Racing) after buying our first bike: XR75 for all 3 of us. We would beg, borrow and steal to go racing. Never realized it then, but now i know. Racing has become this GIANT Family Business.
Sounds really good nice and crisp the wizard knows his stuff, I enjoy your channel
I had one like that , well not nearly that clean . I remember that ridiculous looking rear fender/number plate. The thing was an absolute flying machine and tough as hell.
Sooo cool..Im from Sweden..raced one of these back in the days😎
Stunning ! Look forward to the gas tank restoration video. 👍
Great looking bike takes me back I had a kx60 , kx80 and kx125 back in the 80's end up getting a cr500 in the 90's still in the garage
That is one truly Sick vintage 1983 2 stroke MX Dirtbike. Love those blue handlebars and that Green Sprocket. Devin must be a guy with rare talent like Justin. All your employees have over the top skills. The fact that Wizard was blown away by Devin's work quality speaks in large volumes. Even more impressive is the fact that Devin was actually able to teach all of y'all something really blew me away the most. Since I don't know what Devin looks like, I have no clue if I ever saw him in any of yall's videos or not. His work on that gas tank, with him rebuilding it, is something I didn't even know could be done. Your Mom was a very wise woman with offering you that dirtbike as incentive, to get you to wanna go back to school! She did save your life! ❤
I raced that same bike back in 1983. Was a GREAT bike.
AWESOME JOB DEVON! Always stay on top your game brother!
Excellent job!! Loved the 83 &82 Kawies. Used to have to practice lap with them, on race days. Thought they were the coolest thing on the planet!!
I forgot about the gawd aweful looking rear number plate fender. A sweet looking resto on that model though, thumbs up!!
I have the exact same Rear Chain Wheel. Green RENTHAL.
I am a 110% TOTALLY straight man ...but WOW ..i think i would still marry Devon 😅 just for his AMAZING skills of restoring these old motocross bikes ...ESPECIALLY this 1983 KX 125 💚💙🖤..Devon you hit this one right out of the ball park ...my fav vintage mx bike / year of ALL times . ..so 😎 ...CONGRATS Devon on a job beyond well done !!
P.S sorry Devon ...the marriage is off 😅 I need to find myself a woman who looks like Tayler Kaplan ❤
Would be awesome if you could include before and after pics …..Could appreciate it even more beautiful bike ❤❤❤❤
10000 seems very fair as opposed to the price of a new one
Man I hated that bike compared to my 83 CR125. And that rear fender number plate was horrible BUT I love the history and ground breaking era of the 80’s. Def a golden age
My dream bike😊
When the boy said he has to do that for some other kid 1 day. That's how you know he's a good man
Would like to see a head to head with this KX vs new yz 125 keep up the work man another dime peace 🇦🇺
I want to see how he restored that tank. Beautiful
We're going to do a video documenting a restoration
When those power bands kicked in you better have been hanging on
I had the kx125 both motor cross and flat track on a viper frame back in the 80’s
Bikes were cooler then... Not sure why ?
I remember these at Unidilla
If you don't love the sound of a screaming 125 two stroke you are not alive.
i got one of these for free and as a 15 year old it rips the powerband is crazy i love it
Beautiful 😊
Just frkn sweet! I had one in '93 and thought it was the ugliest thing ever. Wish I had it now!
Beautiful
Y'all need to ad in the before pics or quick before video. They tech did an amazing job on it.
The video was up several times with the Virginia 33 bike pickup including a 60 second short just on this bike it's all online here
@@KaplanCycles I'm sure I've seen it but it was a while back. I got hit in the head a lot as a kid and I don't remember the bikes condition when you got it.
Wholly Crap!!!! Sooo nice!! That KX is a beauty and colors that are still beyond cool! Timeless look
Nice and sounds crisp as hell🤘🏻💚 how did I miss this video 😮
Great year for bikes. Did it originally come with the mudflap on the dog bone linkage?
yes
I wish I worked Here.
Love butikken 🇩🇰
Wizard approved 💪
Beautiful looks brand spanking new wow
💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
Nice.
Wizard trained.........says it all!
How much?
I had one of those. Brapp!
Dang bro... that thang HAULED your 220lbs. frame up that hill like it was shot out of a 12 gauge!!
Senior, I would love to know which of the two 125s is faster, the KX 125 or RM 125❓ and which one was better out of the 250s the KX or the RM back in the day I owned both. And I would like to know, could they be factory bikes ❓
Damn what a beautiful machine. I remember when it came out. Had the gold swingarm and linkages and the number plate rear fender. I was riding an 82 kx80 at the time. Been looking for one to restore ever since.
Damn! She RRRIPPPSSS!
Beautiful!?????
Thank you! Cheers!
Not trying to nick pick, but why is the rear sprocket bolts not coming thru the nylon lock nuts? At least that what it looked like in the video
I've got the 1987. 125 6:01
40 yrs old
How much are you asking
I don’t know how you can sell it😂 I would keep it, regardless of money lost.
Na čem jezdil ❤mladý Conor v Terminátoru ?
How much??
Another bad machine we rode the 💩 out of in the day 🛎️ call me happy. I’m sure Ken sr knows the feeling. We had the pits and trails !
Your mom did did good for you.
I like to hear these bikes rip but I can't stand to see you running around on the pavement. That's just Wrong.
I guess you have no clue how much work it would take if I took this thing ripping through the dirt and mud because that's all there is right now it's really wet this time of year this bike would be destroyed in short order it needs to be preserved so the next owner can decide what the hell he wants to do so that's why I write them on the car you should have known
@@KaplanCycles As everyone probably knows, I am a Retired Pro and current Industry Insider, but really don't like to talk about it. So, I think that I know a little about what's going on here. I am prepared to give you my Final Decision concerning this subject. This decision does not come lightly and is based on my Pro Racing Career with all the Glamour, Money, and Hot Chicks and everything. An Old Geeze ripping a fully restored dirt bike on the pavement is Wrong ! This is my Final Word on this subject. Also, I prefer to remain quiet and otherwise humble concerning my Pro Career and all the Hot Chicks and everything. As I have mentioned, I don't really like to talk about it or anything.
I need help. Great vid. You sir have the best job ever.
Love that backlash crackle!
Way too nice of a bike to ride as it was meant to ( just my opinion ) ...perhaps just a show piece to PROUDLY put on display in a big home or shop .
If I bought this time capsule .. .think that's what I would do ...or just ride it on a big grass in area on a sunny sunday just in case I put it down on it's side 😢
Then I would buy a new GasGas mc 250 ❤️🤍 to fully enjoy as my daily rider !!
Fair enough!
KX always got a bad rap and i dont understand. They kicked big ass!!!I had an 87'125 with Fatboy it was a little slower than my buddys CR but handled WAY better.
Whoever buys this is going to be happy.
How much???
The work order is over $9,000 plus the cost of shipping it from Virginia plus what we paid for
The 1983-1984 rear fender/number plate combo. People either love it or hate it😂.
I Learned Everything from People older than Myself. That's What's missing today.
60 here, Kids nowadays don't want to repair anything. They just live through their Iphones.
Sounds faster than a modern bike wow!!!!!
Looks absolutely beautiful!!!
UNI-TRAK!!! ADVANCED REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM LINKAGES PUSH THE SHOCK DOWN!!!!!
