  • All the information you need to know before flying WOW air.
    Iceland based WOW air started flights from the US and Canada to Europe in 2015. This summer, I flew on WOW air from San Francisco to Paris. This is my review of the airline and stopover in Keflavik, Reykjavik's airport.
    !!!Since I posted this video, it looks like WOW has changed its policy on carry-ons and charges for them!!!!
    Please thumb up if you find this video helpful. Thanks!

    Thanks for this video. I was super excited when they launched in San Francisco but am now based more so in the Detroit area. I just learned on Upgraded Point's website that they have expanded to Detroit recently!! This is such great news. I was surprised to learn on Upgraded Points how many cities they are now in. I haven't yet taken them but look forward to - I've always dreamed of going to Iceland!

    I flew several times with Wow Air and was never disappointed. Once I missed my connective flight and the airline was well-organised and provided a nice hotel for one night upon arrival in Iceland; service I missed with other higher-cost airlines! It's logical from the low fare you pay that extra services cost extra. The staff is usually very friendly and although there is no distinction in seat-classes, one can pay for better seats on the plane.

    Its good if you want to save some money and ride it as it is. I how ever always prefer to pay a little more and go with Icelandair which has more to offer. But, everyone had the choice. WoW Air is a great airline anyway and I'm sure you will be happy with what you pay for.

    True to my experience. Thanks for listing the things which cost extra, budget carriers vary. I do like that boarding is fast and organized, partly due to enforced luggage rules. Come on, just cause you call it a purse doesn't mean it's not the size of luggage.

    Glad I visited Iceland in the 80s and 90s, well before the tourist boom. I hear that Iceland is now having a lot of issues of handling the throngs of tourists from N. America and Europe.

    • @MoulfritProd
      @MoulfritProd  Před 5 lety

      The 80's is when I went for the first time. It seemed quite isolated and far away from everything. As I always do when visiting a new place, I went to a supermarket and noticed the poor selection of items and the wilted vegetable! I haven't had a chance to make a proper visit since, but as you say, it must be very different today.
      I was really happy to get a good Illy cappuccino at Keflavik airport, not Starbuck crap!

    Minimalist airline I loved it flew from toronto to Iceland to shoot an extreme weather sock ad. Round trip was under 400 Canadian per person. It is similar to Easy Jet or Ryan air in europe but with a cleaner more stylish look.

    • @MoulfritProd
      @MoulfritProd  Před 7 lety

      I agree about the more stylish look. I had a good experience with Easy Jet in Europe but Ryan Air is a bit of a nightmare. Yet, the most important is to be able to fly for a decent price, or even a bargain, and Ryan Air certainly gives you that opportunity. Hope your socks are keeping you warm!

    Some lies: You stated there was no business or first, and that it was all just one economy class. WOW Air features a "BigSeat" on some of their aircraft, which is similar to a US domestic first class. They also have several classes below that, in which I will mention in a CZcams video about WOW's seating.

    • @MoulfritProd
      @MoulfritProd  Před 7 lety

      I was looking at prices for tickets to Europe this summer and, quite frankly, WOW is not a good choice anymore. The base prices are expensive and if I add all the extras such as luggage, it's borderline expensive. Making people pay for carry-ons is outrageous! So much for low cost airline! Of course, getting your ticket early is key to getting a good price.

    • @ChiefKandiyohi
      @ChiefKandiyohi Před 7 lety

      A checked bag from the US to Europe with one layover would cost you a minimum of $240 ($70/leg). I was astounded when I discovered this. Seems I will be packing light!

  • @tomaskarlg9490
    @tomaskarlg9490 Před 7 lety +4

    wowair is not much cheaper than icelandair. in wowair after you have baught everything you need for the flight you have paid 44,000ISK and in icelandair after everything u need is 47,000ISK. WoW-Air is not that cheaper

    • @MoulfritProd
      @MoulfritProd  Před 7 lety +4

      The goal with low-cost airlines is not to match what other airlines offer per say, but rather to offer the affordability to fly for people who are ready to accept the bare minimum comfort. Yet, if you are willing to pay more on a low-cost airline, you will get more. I agree that if you are willing to pay more for the extra comfort, there is no reason to choose a low-cost airline over a regular airline. But if your intent is to fly for the lowest price, and that means sacrificing comfort, low-cost airlines are the way to go. It's that flexibility that gives low-cost airlines the advantage for thrifty travelers.

      +MoulfritProd Of course they do, now they have about 8-12 US destinations flying in from both Oslo, London, Paris CDG, Copenhagen, Stockholm and also Spain is right around the corner to become an international hub for Norwegian.
      Regarding Asia, the only route of the year is Bangkok. Routes to Hong Kong, India, South Africa and even Washington will begin later this year.
      In addition to this, (as you probably know) only new Dreamliners are used on long-haul. With entertainment systems, of course. (787-8, and soon to be 30 787-9)

      When you need to save money, low-cost airlines are a great alternative.Some people would not be able to travel without them. It's especially great for younger people. This said, regular airlines have been fighting back recently, and you can get some pretty decent prices on them too.
