    Bring on the Republic, the amount of money the new GG will get is insane for a predominantly ceremonial role .

    Note, the Roayal salute only came after the affirmation. It was a general salute before that. And surprised to see she uses such a smallish car. I thought they would change vehicles after she was sworn in.

    Yay, albo has wrecked the office of governor-general by installing a highly political woman to hold the position. Seriously, what next! H.M the King should sack Sam and bring back Sir David Hurley. The Governor-General should always be above politics, Sam is just too political to hold this position. God save this nation, God save our system on non-political constitutional monarchy, God save the King.

      You are aware serving ministers have been chosen to serve as GG before? Or is this just point scoring against albo because Sam Mostyn has indicated she cares about womens rights

      You know governors and governor general appointments are always made by the government and are often political lol, this is not the first time, just accept it lol, it’s no big deal anyway.

      @@mindi2050 Yes , I know about the Aus act which was passed in two parts, Australian parliament and the British parliament legally separating Australia's legal system from the Privy council in England.
      Irrelevant !! This makes Australia politically and legally independent from the UK , NOT fully sovereign. A country is not fully sovereign whilst it has another nation's HOS / Monarch as its head of state --- that is technically known as a client state , not a sovereign state.

    • @Bulldog-qo8ev
      @Bulldog-qo8ev Před 5 dny

      @@mindi2050 Actually Australia is not just a member of the Commonwealth , it is officially a British Commonwealth "Realm" because it has Britain's King as HOS as does NZ , Canada and some small Caribbean countries. Most regular members of the Commonwealth are republics eg South Africa , India , Samoa etc. or have their own Monarchs eg Tonga !

    As a Brit, who is also a republican here, it is sad to see your head of state have to swear allegiance to a King, a random bloke the other side of the world (he’s also random to Britain except he lives here), and that the PM gets the ultimate choice on who to choose as your Governor General rather than Parliament or the People, but still... congratulations on your new de facto Head of State.

      I’m a republican from Australia. It is annoying but our prime minister choosing the Governor General is better than the monarch or the British government choosing.

      I respect ur opinion but in modern world today, Constitutional monarchy is better option of government than a republic. the only problem UK has its politicians who r out of touch with the Public, on the other side the Royals r working towards various problems overlooked by the government and r more in touch with the public.....pls don't take it for granted....and btw those "Not My King" guys sucks.....
