- While most know about what happened in Appomattox on April 9, 1865, the preceding week is crucial in understanding why General Robert E. Lee surrendered to General Ulysses Grant. David Lintern, a volunteer from James A. Garfield National Historic Site, explains the series of losses and calamities that influenced Lee's decision.
Fantastic presentation…thanks for sharing
Very informative talk. Thank you for sharing your research with us.
One of the most informative hour I have spent in my life. I’m inspired to go to Google and purchase an audio book on the subject.
Thanks. I enjoyed this very much.
Thanks.
I read a very good book told from Travelers point of view during the war. Traveler was Lees favorite horse. Poor Traveler doesn't understand Lee's funeral. It turns out Traveler lived longer than Lee
Awesome info!
Thank you for this video.
Thank you for watching!
I was stunned to hear how long the wagon trains were. After Gettysburg battle the Unions wagon train with dead dying and wounded would be 17 Miles long
I believe that was CSA not union.
Somebody, I think it was LTC Marshal. Lee had two officers on his staff for the most part. Marshal mostly arms and ammo. LTC Taylor was food etc. That said, he was on leave, to get married in Richmond I think. I also not sure if he went to Norfolk after the war or after he was married.
Easy for Davis to say he wasn't in the trenches starving taking bullets
Thank you for not ruining it with juvenile computer music. Otherwise, I wouldn't have watched.
Agree.
Must have been a great 7 days to be alive
get rekt, traitors
whatgood it did for black people when they put that same trash back in control through out the south they lost any it went and its shows today
What? Idk what you’re saying but it’s incoherent and idiotic I’m sure
Great!
