When she was young, her hair had a few Auburn strands.
When she went to black beauty shops, for dyeing, itd come out WRONG, so, she either did it herself or went to white beauty shops (she lived in CA, no jim crow)
@@kathleenking47 You see. I know and my mother knows melanated people can naturally have all kinds of hair colors. She just insisted it didn’t look good. Now she thinks it all looks great 🙄 Where was that energy 10 years ago.
Edit: does your aunt still wear her auburn strands? Just curious. I once had dirty blonde strands in the front of my hair from having relaxer and swimming at the beach all summer (my mom later dyed it dark brown)

Try a 10 vol dev and powder bleach for brown hair. It will lift you one to two shades safely with curls in tack. Always bleach on dirty hair. I only use 10. Sometimes I bleach 10 twice 1 week apart if I'm not light enough to achieve the color I want. Once dry, I follow up with a vegan hair dye like manic panic (it's a rgreat conditioner! Leaves your hair soft and smells great.) sometimes I sleep in it over night, Depends. My curls are still the same. I am 3c, 4a. Cheers 🍻
