How to not have your root not lighter than other parts of your hair: Section your hair in 4 parts, start from the back of your head, apply the color 1 inch away from your scalp, do this until you’re done applying the back of your head, now move on to the front make sure you are still applying an inch away from the scalp, do this until you’re done with the front. Now, you want to go back to the back of your head apply the rest of the color to the root, once you’re done with the back of your root, start with the front of your root until you’re done.
The reason why your root comes out lighter is because it’s the closest part to your scalp so the color will process faster. The reason why you would want to start coloring from the back to the front is because the back of your head have less sun exposure therefore it’s less damaging and the color will need more time to process vs the front of your head.
When you’re about to wash your hair out before letting your hair touch water use shampoo to remove any stain on your forehead or around your ears. Make sure you rub the shampoo in the area that’s stained and then you can start washing your hair. If you let water touches the area that’s stained it will be harder for you to remove the color since water allows color to settle into your skin. Good luck.

If you want a color closer to the light strips at the front of your face, try the same product in the shade ‘sizzling copper’! I been dying my hair that color every Fall for the past three years now and I love it!
The sample hair at Sally’s looks WAAAY too light, but hair our natural color is never gonna get that light without real bleach, so don’t worry. It’ll turn out like this, but more copper, not red.
This still looks so cute on you though ❤
