I fully agree with your attitude. Depending on how people want to work and what they want to build, I'd also generally agree with your list. Some people, however, want to work on smaller projects and do it with hand tools. Some have only a tiny amount of space - inside a small apartment. In these kinds of situations the recommendations start to fall apart and people should go in an entirely different direction. Also, in my area it is really difficult to find used tools that are worth the price you have to pay. So about the only things I could buy used around here have been a benchtop jointer and a lathe. Some other suggestions if I may?: Experienced woodworkers often ignore the difficulty of sharpening chisels and hand planes. Not cheap, but Rali sells them with replaceable sharp stuff. Not the greatest stuff but pretty good. Consider a circular saw if you don't have the space for the table saw. You can make or buy saw guides and do good stuff. If you are getting plywood for projects? Yup, good stuff. You want that circular saw to break it down into manageable pieces. To do that you can get some of the firm 4x8' insulation sheets and do the cutting on that. Use a saw guide or get a skateplate. Speed square. Combination square. Carpenter's square. And yeah, you can get pretty inexpensive ones. Not a tool. But if you are starting out you should consider a hard wax oil. It's a good finish, low-VOC (so you could safely use it in your kitchen), easy to apply and to repair - with pretty good protection. Rubio Monocoat is kinda the big name out there but I think Natura is probably the best overall value.
I remember when I was first starting out. I could make some pretty nice stuff w/ a table saw and pocket holes, but when I picked up a dowel jig, the quality really stepped up a notch. It was tricky at first getting things to line up properly, but once I got the hang of it, I was able to make stuff that I was truly proud of.

I like the video, I bought a couple used table saws & the design of the fence caused inaccurate cuts. In turn it discouraged me a little. I since bought a rack and pinion fence system, huge improvement.

I bought a Ridgid table saw new from HD and a few months later got a new spiral planer from Wen. Almost every other woodworking tool I have (random, hand planes, jigsaw, router and bits, etc) came from either a pawn shop, estate sale or garage sale. Another couple of good places to look are HiBid and Proxibid. I've picked up a couple of Kreg jigs from there also. As for clamps, so far I've gotten along pretty well with Harbor Freight stuff. As you said, the price point on clamps can be prohibitive for a newbie like me just starting out. Thanks for the video and looking forward to what you have coming up.
I regret getting rid of my rigid table saw. Ride it out as long as ya can, I bought the Laguna f2 thinking the grass was greener on the other side. I'm very disappointed

It depends on quite a few factors. I've never had an issue with pocket holes. It could be attributed to moisture content, species (pine sucks with pocket holes if you hit it wrong, etc.)
I am definitely into watching any videos you want to do. But if it's too much to do or ups your stress or burnout, would rather you do whatever is sustainable for you.

How is the vibration on your Makita sander? Matt with 731 Woodworks done a video on sanders. I can't remember if he had the Makita in that or not. I know he didn't like the Bosch. It put his hand to sleep really fast, and it was under powered. Thanks for the list! Haha, if I don't win the domino from you I'm going to have to invest in a doweling jig. I bought a Grizzly doweling jointer, but it doesn't drill straight. The holes don't line up on both boards.
My Makita sander is the best one I've owned over the course of 12 years. The only thing I would change would be to make the vac hose connection more suitable to a regular vac hose attachment without needing 3 different adapters
I work outside so no need for the air cleaner, don't have a shop but it's very little clean up. But I have way more tools than these in fact I've bought tools I may never use but I bought one tool at a time and some I had to wait a year to get but your absolutely right it just takes patience but everyone can get there and once you get there just upgrade when you can.
I live in western Colorado, don't got a lot of species of wood here so I have to special order or up recycle but love the area it's kinda dry here which makes it a little easier to work outside but it gets a little hot sometimes.
🤣🤣🤣Sorry, I don't think I'll be able to grow a beard. I guess it's a good thing I'm not looking to start a woodworking business. 😂 Most of my tools I inherited from my father. I have purchased some, like my Ryobi cordless tools. Good thing we moved to an area where Home Depot is an hour and a half away, I'd be more broke than I am! I do have a table saw that I bought soon after our move. Actually, it's my second one. The first one caught fire the first day I used it. Replaced it with a different brand, same price point. (9 months after I got a letter from the manufacturer of the first saw warning me to stop using the saw immediately, no explanation.) I am building a homestead, almost from scratch. Most of the work I am doing myself (a 65 yr. old woman on SS). My "shop" is a 10x8 metal garden shed that came in a box and I put together 95% by myself. (Been fighting leaks.) But, it's better than no shop at all! Had my table saw stored in the barn, the mice made a mess and it was seized up, I got it cleaned up and freed up. It's working great now! Love your style, enjoying your projects. Looking forward to future videos!

A quality drill/driver and impact driver are key tools to my woodworking, and while a table saw is nice to have, there are many projects that can be done with a circular saw and jigsaw in addition to the drill and impact. This is not scalable though and a table saw changes that equation.

I liked the fact that mine came with the spiral cutter head not helical but spiral so at least my 26 blades had four sides on them, so when I hit something it's easy to change. Debating on putting one of those sleds straight through the whole machine to see if it helps with my snipe issue. I thought this brand was possibly some kind of a hack and maybe by chance it would be better than DeWalt or something like that that cost more but as of now not so much
In my limited experience what you are calling bar clamps are known as pipe clamps in other areas. The others that sounded like you were saying “S” clamps must have been “F” style clamps
@@burnstockwoodworking makes sense. I guess a router is considered more of the tool to refine your work and make it better after you go. You could use a sander to do the same thing I suppose… when I built my desk I wish I had a router… but that didn’t mean I couldn’t build the desk with sanding.
I still work for the man as well lol. These are just to get started woodworking. I kinda like keeping it as extra income anyway rather than the main source.
Disagree with you about 3/4 inch plywood, in my experience, you would be better off getting raw lumber to learn from. Free stuff is always better than spending money on plywood, osb, and other things. Yes different tools are needed to start from scratch especially when you have walnut stumps that given to you for free.

Going on my 3rd year of semi self employed, definitely not easy when working out of a 1 bedroom apt. I do various novelty stuff and have been having some good experience with it.
You really should stop making commitments to things you’re not going to finish. You haven’t finished a single series you’ve started. Then you market your channel to beginners, and you were going to show us all how to start from scratch, but instead you’re going to open a bigger shop. Make up your mind.
I agree with you to a point that I didn't finish the zero to 1500 series, mainly due to space and time. I've already owned up to that, however, I haven't started a beginner series on starting from scratch nor did I make the commitment. It was a concept. That was a series I was planning and scrapped. I am still going to produce beginner style projects/content while growing in my new shop. Thanks for bearing with me!

Yep, I started out with a small kobalt bench top table saw. Those were good (butt puckering) times 😆😆
