Ride and Hike - Johnsonville State Park

This video is not so much of a ride and hike.
I wanted to visit the location of the town of Johnsonville Tennessee which was flooded by the TVA to make a dam. The town of Johnsonville sprung up in 1864 at the place of a Union Army supply depot. That depot was built so that supplies could be brought by the Tennessee River to a rail line specifically built to run into Nashville and then moved out to Union troops fighting the enemy troops of the Confederate States of America.
On November 4, 1864 enemy troops moved into position across the Tennessee river from the depot. CSA Gen. Forrest had his artillery well positioned. The cannons let loose and when the battle was over the depot was in ruins although it would recover.
There is little known of the town of Johnsonville from 1864 to 1944 although the Tennessee State Park Service is trying to obtain more information.

Glad you enjoyed it. It was fascinating to read how the fortification came to be. I was really hoping to learn more about the town. Hopefully more its history will come out.
